the letter they gave me at my last appmt

I have been a loyal patient of Growing Up Pediatrics for 17 years -- until today. I am deeply disturbed by the direction this practice has taken, and I can no longer in good conscience recommend them. For nearly two decades, they had always respected parental choice when it came to vaccines. We followed an alternative vaccine schedule tailored to our children's individual needs, signing the necessary waivers and working collaboratively with Dr. Wendy, who brought a more holistic and thoughtful approach to care. She often offered natural alternatives for common childhood illnesses (like ear infections) and understood that health is not one-size-fits-all. Now, the practice has implemented a draconian new vaccine policy: either fully vaccinate your child according to the CDC schedule or be dismissed from the practice. Vaccinate or be fired. This is a betrayal of trust for long-standing families like mine who have navigated these choices thoughtfully and transparently for years. I am not "anti-vax." I am pro-choice and believe that vaccines can save lives. However, I also believe strongly -- based on both scientific research and personal experience -- that there is a subset of children who require a more cautious approach. My youngest child is an orchid child, with a sensitive nervous system, heightened immune reactivity, and detoxification vulnerabilities. For children like this: The blood-brain barrier (BBB) is not fully mature in infancy, increasing the risk of neurotoxic impacts from vaccine adjuvants such as aluminum (still present in several vaccines). Immune activation from stacked vaccines can disrupt neurodevelopment and synaptic pruning in sensitive children. Genetic and metabolic differences can impair detox pathways, further amplifying the risk. The "herd immunity" argument does not justify ignoring the medical uniqueness of vulnerable children. This policy ignores all nuance and science around individual susceptibility and dismisses families who thoughtfully approach vaccination with informed consent. I also strongly question the motivations behind this sudden policy shift. Whether the practice is being pressured by the medical establishment or making a financially motivated decision (aligned with insurance incentives tied to vaccine compliance rates), the result is the same: families are being forced into a corner. To make matters worse, during my daughter's recent well visit, the staff took her alone without my consent and proceeded to ask her personal questions about her sexual orientation, which made her extremely uncomfortable. This is entirely inappropriate and a violation of parental trust. Quality of care: F. Respect for parental choice: F. Understanding of individualized medicine: F. I am DONE with this practice and urge any parent who values informed consent, respectful dialogue, or holistic care to look elsewhere.

Loved this practice until the owner recently began threatening that if we didn't vaccinate with MMR exactly by 24 months, your child will be dismissed from their practice. They explicitly state that they do not care about personal or religious exemptions in their letter. This is exactly the opposite of open conversation and fighting the narrative if they are afraid people are under misconceptions. We will never return.

Great place to send your kids. Dr. Wendy is super nice and cares for her patients. All the nurses are really nice too.

Our first visit to Suburban Pediatrics was great. The receptionist was quick with the paperwork. They have two waiting areas for the little ones; one for sick patients and another for well patients. Each room has an activity table and a television pumping out kid-friendly shows. The fish tank that separates the rooms is my little guy's favorite feature! We were taken back to the rooms, all of which have different themes. Each room has a wall painted with old-school chalkboard paint for the kids to go crazy on while waiting to see the doctor. The wait wasn't long at all! We've seen 3 different doctors here so far, and each one was awesome. Their bedside manner with kids is superlative. My little one likes to squirm worse than a worm on hook, but the doctors were quite engaging and he actually stayed still enough for a complete check (...and the doctors won't share their secrets!!!) They are also part of the CMC network, so patient info can be accessed from other affiliates as needed. All around, one of the finest doctor's offices I've been to, and it's even better that it's for the important little people in our lives.

As a really bored and unburdened mother of three sons under the age of six, I figured I needed to…read moretake up a new hobby. Lobbying for my childrens' health and fighting with insurance companies peeked my interest, so I decided to visit South Lake Pediatrics for my kids' care. Prior to school starting, I took my ingoing kindergartner in for his mandated well-check. They took his height and weight, said he looked good, and apparently performed brain surgery while I changed his brother's diaper. Despite having insurance, we have received several bills in the mail, totaling upwards of $1400. For a well-check. Former President Obama must be shaking his head at this one. Two more well-checks, that for a three-year-old and for a baby, add another $1500 to our bill. Will SLP or Carolinas Health Care help? Nope. So, on I go. Now onto the lack of empathy and care... eh-hem. My (now) ten-month-old has been suffering from congestion, colds, green snot, and ear infections since he was just a few months old. He's always snored like a bulldog, and had an awful latch and suck (both nursing and bottle feeding). Dismissed as if this were my first rodeo and I was a complete clown, the doctorS (yes, I've seen at least three for these issues) sent me on to the pharmacy to bandaid the issue. Having half a brain and two older children, I came to my non-medical-degree-holding conclusion that maybe an ENT issue was involved. So I asked for a referral. Once. Twice. Three times. At the office, over the phone, via prayer, carrier pigeons, etc. Nothing happened. So, I call our insurance carrier and they approved our visit to an ENT. And, guess what. I am a flipping genius. My child has HUGE adenoids, another ear infection (the prescription no longer works on him) so he needs tubes put in, AND the ENT figured out that he has reflux. Now, we wait for almost a month to get surgery for our wee lad, who has been basically miserable for the better part of his life. So, as surgery approaches, I think I'll take up a new hobby like underwater basketweaving, as my time dealing with SLP and Carolinas is done. I left a message for the practice manager letting her know what happened, and I asked for a call back.... which never happened. Peace out.

We moved here last week and are currently having our records sent over. In the mean time my baby is very sick. Coughing, throwing up and just acting strange. I called to see if we could get in to see a Dr. The women on the phone was difficult to work with. She said you had to have their second which I totally understand. I told her I can print off the records until they receive them in the mail. She said she needed to check with her supervisor. She came back to be 2 minutes later and told me that would be fine, but she won't make an appointment over the phone and that I have to come in first give her my records then she could see what she has at that time and I could come back later. I reiterated I had 4 kids and that wouldn't be helpful and would be difficult for me to do. She said she would get her supervisor. I have been sitting on hold now for 19:54 second. If this is the way you guys treat you new customer you should be ashamed of the way you train your employees. We are coming from the Chicagoland area and the healthcare is spectacular. I'm totally shocked at this entire interactions. We will be canceling out record transfer to you guys and are heading to Growing up Peds. Not only were you going to get my 4 kids as clients, but my husband and myself as well. Still on hold 25 minutes later.
