At first, I was so excited to find Montessori Achievement Centre, I was looking for a traditional…read moreMontessori preschool for my daughter. During the tour, I asked a few questions to confirm what they advertised on their website -- that they were a traditional Montessori school. I asked Patricia, the founder and director, if there were any ways in which they deviated from traditional Montessori practices and principles and she said, "no, we don't deviate at all from traditional Montessori practices." So, I was shocked when picking up my 2 year old a little early from "Montessori time" (830am-130pm) to find the entire school huddled around a TV watching Troll cartoons. This is a double whammy of violating the Montessori principles of not using technology/screen time and avoiding fantasy. After asking Patricia about it, she confirmed that they put the kids in front of the television when it was hot outside. (With the location in East County, it is hot a lot in the afternoons.) Given that they lied about staying true to traditional Montessori practices and principles, I didn't feel safe continuing to leave my toddler in their care, because I don't trust that they aren't misleading about other areas of their care. I understand if a preschool decides to use TV sometimes, but I don't feel that it's okay to mislead parents about it. Their communication has been terrible from day one, from not telling me everything I needed to bring with her on the first day of school even when I specifically asked, to not informing me of major milestones like the first time she went on the potty. Since I've pulled my daughter out, I have not been able to get a response from the school about getting my full refund (they only sent a check with a portion of the security deposit and no explanation on why they are not refunding me for the entire security deposit plus the days she will not be attending in July) nor a reply to any of my emails.

The location is conveniently located off the 54, accessible, safe, and there is plenty of parking. They offer various programs, from infant, toddler, and beyond. My family has utilized the summer program for the older kids and they kept the kids busy with supervised outgoings and fun-filled events/activities. My family and I toured the academy nearly 1 year ago. We were welcomed and the owner as well as staff answered all of our questions. We stopped in and they willingly invited us in and spent time with us. My family relied on my educational background/experience to help make an informed decision for placing their kids in preschool. I was quite impressed with HLA and most importantly, the loving and nurturing environment. They offer a curriculum and meet every standard imaginable. The facility is clean and kid friendly. We felt safe leaving our family members here. The staff is friendly and truly understands child development. Additionally, I want to applaud the staff for their knowledge and acceptance for those with special needs. I've seen first hand the way in which the staff/teachers support and accommodate kids with unique/varied needs. Their experience shows. Well done!

As a new mom leaving my son for the first time in the care of someone else, I was understandably anxious dropping my baby off that first day, but Ms. Tiffany's experience, knowledge and compassion immediately put me at ease. I always felt my son was safe and well taken care of. The preschool "Future Leaders" program also fully prepared my son for his entry into elementary school. His kindergarten teacher recently informed me that he went further in their mathematics assessment than any of the other children in his class. HLA offers extended hours and full day programs to accommodate the schedules of working parents and participates in numerous payment programs. They meet all academic and nutritional guidelines but more importantly, they focus on empowering children by developing their self confidence and independence while emphasizing respect, empathy and kindness. Dr. Agnes' passion and personal investment in her students makes her a truly inspirational role model in the community. We are sincerely grateful to HLA for their positive influence in our son's life.

My child was in the preschool class and they didnt really log if he ate or not. They just wrote down the menu for that day so I wonder if he ever really ate even though they said yes when I asked. My son was always big for his age and it seemed like there are too many kids here and they weren't able to give him the time and attention he needed. The ratio is 12:1. When I dropped my son off one morning, poor Ms.Kelcey was changing a diaper while 10 other kids were running around and one was crying in the corner. Nothing on Ms.Kelcey; shes great and she handled that like a champ. They just need more staff here. I noticed one of the teachers had quit when my son first started and the teachers here seem kind of burnt out. The director met with us and said my child wasn't meeting his milestones and that the teachers hadn't observed them. But, when we got our son evaluated by his pediatrician and a speech therapist, that was not the case. His outbursts at school didnt improve. From looking at the footage that they DID show us, it appeared it happened whenever teachers were looking away, so I do feel bad for the other kids. It seemed like he was always getting written up and they looked for any reason to write an incident report. Most times that we asked to see the footage, we wouldnt get it. The director would just say she watched it and tell us what happened. The director pushed for my son to get evaluated through the regional center and even after I went through the process of doing so to get him the help he needed, he was still terminated. After my sons occupational therapist went to the school (she went and observed him his last week there), she observed that our son was not the worse behaved one and that he was just copying other kids behaviors. Now that my son is in a different pre school with a smaller ratio, he is doing better. So, maybe this school isn't for neurodivergent kids or for shy kids or for kids that are big for their age. For the price, I would say you get what you pay for because the facility is beautiful, always clean, and the yard is nice. Food is good from what I've seen and super healthy. But, it is packed with kids (12:1 in prek) and they really need more staff!!

When we brought up anything to them their response was we can't watch all of our friends. I did see a bad review and it looks like it got deleted so my review may get deleted as well. A WARNING to all considering learning jungle. They pick their favorites, my child was eating sand (two days in a row) had marker all over her clothes (she could have had it in her mouth), had an ice cube they use for accidents in her mouth (choking hazard) because somehow it ended up in the classroom accessible to her, got sick on the third day when we withdrew her. Everytime we picked her up there was one teacher playing with the same group of kids and one just standing around, but not paying attention to what the kids are doing. Also they never answer their phone so if there is an emergency you have to go to the center to speak to them. They called me on the first day to ask me to come pick up my child because she wouldn't wake up from her nap and the other kids can't go outside and supposedly there is a rule stating that they can't wake her up even though it's past their nap time. This is unheard of and so inconvenient. I wasn't able to pick up my daughter because that day I already had to go back to the location twice before because of their lack of communication. Save yourself the headache, this Place may look like it's good for your child, but internally it's all messed up. My child has since been taken to a daycare facility near our home and she has been thriving. Learning jungle is the worst daycare I have ever dealt with.

The heart of this center is Miss Celia. She is an exceptional director.. She is warm, approachable, organized, and an incredible leader. She somehow knows every child and every family, and you can tell she genuinely cares about each one. It's rare to find someone who is so on top of everything while still making every parent feel seen and supported. Wendie started in the infant room and later transitioned into the toddler room before we moved. Throughout every stage, her teachers were loving, attentive, and truly knew her little personality. They celebrated her milestones, cared for her like she mattered, and made us feel completely comfortable leaving our baby in their hands each day. One of my favorite memories is a video of baby Wendie with her infant teacher, Miss Lashay. Even now, she still lights up when she watches it. It speaks volumes about the warmth and connection that was built during her time there. We've since relocated and Wendie is now at another KinderCare. I wish I could say all KinderCare centers are the same, but they aren't. Spring Valley set an incredibly high standard, and we've realized just how special that community truly was. If we had stayed in San Diego, there is no question Wendie would still be attending Spring Valley KinderCare. We miss our Spring Valley KinderCare family so much and often wish we could have packed them up and brought them with us. Thank you to Miss Celia and the entire team for giving our daughter such a loving, joyful, and safe start. We will always be grateful.

My two children both attended Kindercare from the age of three months through last Christmas…read morebreak... They are 6 and 8 now. To rate a child care center poorly because your "baby cried" is like condemning the state of Washington because it rained. It wasn't a perfect journey, because whose childhood is, but this place feels like home to both of my kids. From the desperate, sobbing mornings leaving my infants behind (Teacher Esae trying to convince me that if I leave quickly, it will hurt less for everyone), to the excitement of my daughter taking a cooking class at four years old, this center really spanned the gamut of positive experiences for both kids, and for two parents who both had to work to make ends meet in this outrageously expensive city. My son did get bullied. But the center can't prevent terrible parents from raising terrible children. Any incident was reported promptly and the staff did absolutely everything they could to keep my child (and several others) away from the bully. Eventually, the center reported that the child no longer attended Kindercare, and our gratitude for that resolution endeared the staff to us even more. The center also accommodated bus delivery of my son to a nearby elementary school to which they had never bussed before, though they certainly weren't obliged to. Through covid, they were an absolute godsend as both my husband and I were required to report to work as first responders. The center was helpful and understanding as we all navigated the new normal. Occasionally, during random school breaks, we will still need to call on the center for a week or two of care, and director Celia always leaves the door open for us. This year, she even went out of her way to fully understand the new, complicated care protocol for our son's diabetes diagnosis/treatment. At no point did we ever feel uncertain about leaving our children there. In particular, teacher Shonda and Miss Barbara have made our kids' lives so much better, and they will always have a special place in our family's memories. The cost of daycare is crippling. That's just a fact. But this center does not set their own rates, corporate obviously does, so throwing a fit about it on a review forum is absolute ignorance. The standards that this staff sets for their individual care and attention, as well as amicable and reassuring relationships with the parents, is exactly what we were looking for in a daycare, and it was delivered in spades. 10/10, very highly recommended.

I cannot recommend this daycare based on my family's experience…read more From the time my children were enrolled, I had ongoing issues with billing. I was quoted one monthly tuition amount during enrollment, but after my children started attending, I was charged significantly more than what had been discussed. In addition, I experienced repeated billing errors, and I often had to reach out to have charges corrected. It was frustrating to constantly question whether my bill was accurate. We did love Ms. Isis and Ms. Kelly they were so nice and compassionate with the kids. My biggest concern, however, was the daycare's handling of staff conduct. I learned that there were concerns about a teacher being rough with children, and I was disappointed by how the situation was handled. As a parent, I expect any concerns involving children's safety and well-being to be addressed promptly and communicated appropriately. Because of the ongoing billing problems and my concerns about how serious issues were managed, I made the decision to disenroll my children. I hope the daycare improves its billing practices, communication, and accountability so other families have a better experience.
