Two of those showed up late, provided quotes either late or not at all, and one of those didn't quote what we discussed. He fit me into his packed schedule (of course the units picked the first hot spell of the season to act up), diagnosed a refrigerant leak, and set about fixing it. If you're not familiar with mini-split systems, the difference between them and central air is that where central air cools air at the condenser unit then circulates it through your house, mini-splits circulate refrigerant, cooling the air at various "head units" throughout the house. The advantage is that mini-splits are easier and faster to retrofit into old buildings. The disadvantage is that there are many more places for a refrigerant leak to hide. Josh filled the system with UV dye and came back late in the evening to check for leaks. He found a couple of egregiously loose fittings---a sure sign of shoddy installation by the other company that had installed the system. At this point, he suspected there were probably loose fittings elsewhere. He's keenly aware of how expensive refrigerant is, and how bad it is for the environment when it leaks. With that in mind, along with the fact that the heat spell had broken, he suggested we hold off on refilling the system until he could come back and do a full system walkthrough. When he came back, he pressurized the system to its max with Nitrogen, so he could check for leaks without wasting refrigerant. It just so happened to be the hottest day of the year (so far), but that just made him more determined to get the system running for us. He worked thoroughly but quickly and got our system running better than I think it ever has. I'm profoundly grateful for his hard work and dedication. I cannot recommend him highly enough for any HVAC work you need done.

Called around to several HVAC companies and most were closing at 5pm or wanted to schedule me the following morning due to an incoming snow storm (2024 Winter really sucked this year). To my surprise, a friend of mine recommended Northside Mechanical, a local private company, who were there within an hour and resolving my issue shortly afterward. He came back on Tuesday with a permanent fix and we started talking about updating my HVAC system and hot water heater. Not only was the price reasonable for an emergency call, but I received a GREAT QUOTE for a more efficient HVAC system that includes Air Conditioning (my prior system was heat only), and an updated, more-efficient hot water heater (the old one was rusting and on its way out). A couple weeks later, Andrew was here with his partner working on my HVAC system and had it all done in a few hours. They came back a few days later to do the hot water heater, and they'll be back in a month to work on the Air Conditioning unit after the snow melts. They guys were kind and professional, very knowledgeable, and it's the first time I felt like I was getting real honest answers without unnecessary up-sells for things I don't need! They were responsive, quoted us fairly, on time, professional and lead with integrity. Last fall when we received the quote, we had some other repairs on the house that needed to be completed first. Davco told us what we could do in the meantime to tide us over, which they were under no obligation to do. Their suggestions worked AND when we reached out to them last month to say we were ready to start our chimney and foundation work, not only did they honor the quote, they had us booked on the calendar within a week. The masonry work they did on our house looks beautiful and they're even coming back to complete the last couple of spots after National Grid wraps our power lines. I can't say enough about this company. We will always use and recommend them.

On 4/24/25 I contracted with Davco to have a cement sidewalk connecting the existing east side…read moresidewalk around the back of the home to a existing patio then from the patio up the west side of the home connecting to the existing front sidewalk. The contract stated 98LF,5"wide, and 6" deep as discussed.the price of the job was 8,400.00 which was paid in cash 50% to start, 25% after removal of forms and 25% upon completion. The job was started approximately June 10th, by mid August the cement was pitting, a crack formed where the sidewalk meets the patio, no backfill was placed and cement on the garage and house.Dave was contacted and did send a worker to clean but nothing else was addressed. Two other workers stopped by and stated the job was not done correctly there is a heaved, and the crack was a combination of no rebar and excavation was not done properly. Fast forward to April 2026,after the winter there is a second crack on the east side connecting to the existing front sidewalk. My husband contacted Dave via email stated the job is not complete no backfill still and two cracks now. Dave set a worker to backfill and stopped himself where he had a conversation with my husband about the cracks and in his mind the job was completed and offered no reason for the cracks. I have left 2 voice messages May/June No response! The ironic piece of this story the supervisor of this job stopped by August 2025 on his own to make the necessary corrections to the job. Unbeknown to us he had been fired from Davco 2025 based on two botched jobs one being a garage as told to us by an employee. All I want is what I paid for and a little customer service goes a long way. The owner could care less if a customer is pleased. He tries to bully people by his attitude and belligerent manners. Made a complaint to the BBB which he has not responded to. I would not recommend him or his company to a dead man!

March 5th 2025 they came and did $5800.76 of what they claimed was repairs to bring our chimney up…read moreto code since the inspection did not pass. May 22nd 2026 we had a home inspector come and do a detailed inspection for an unrelated circumstance and at that time we weren't aware of any issues. Once we received the official report and photos from the home inspection, it seemed familiar to me. So I pulled the chimney inspection and looked at them side by side. It was alarmingly clear that the home inspectors STRONG suggestion to obtain necessary repairs from a licensed contractor for EXACTLY what this company claimed to have already repaired months prior. Ultimately, no repairs were ever done and both inspection photos looked exactly the same which would indicate that this company allowed our chimney to remain out of code, an active safety and fire hazard and we used this trusting that it was now in working order. I provided them with the documentation and request that they refund the work they never did. It's been over 2 weeks now and I still have yet to be acknowledged which I presumed is what they'd do since the alternative would be to take accountability and at the very least apologize for the unsafe conditions they put my family as risk for and rightfully return our $5800.76 back to us. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and have been instead given lack of professionalism.
