Been here a few times every now and again, including this past Monday. It has the potential to be a very decent hang-out, but a few issues really grate and hold it back from being a better place than what it currently is. It's not even the fact that it's an in-store coffee shop. It's actually a bit of an oasis of calm away from the sterile madness of the super Tesco that hosts it. It's just the fact that the staff generally seem half-bothered about attending you when you talk with them to place your order. They almost always have the same unimpressed look and their eyes barely make eye contact - they kinda start moving away as you're still talking and it feels to me like I'm a burden to them, or that it's some laborious chore having to interact. I don't really ask a lot from a coffee shop because they just sell coffee. Simple. But I really do wish that the people who choose to work the barrista gig treat their customers like they expect to be treated on either side of a counter. The coffee itself is fine, but I do feel a kinda relief when I get packed up and ready to leave this particular cafe and get on with the Tesco gauntlet. The other issue is that I almost always find the tables greasy or with obvious evidence that they aren't being cleaned properly in between uses: crumbs, grains of sugar, smudges. I really do hope that I've only had random bad luck and that this is not the norm for other people who frequent this spot way more than I do. But until I see that my experiences are really random off-days or flashes in the pan, I'm happy enough for now to keep my visits seldom. read more
