Mother of God, this restaurant is FANTASTIC. The Wife and I went to Pier 51 in Hannover for the…read morefirst time a couple weeks ago, and our taste buds have been ruined ever since. All food, everywhere else, now comes as a disappointment. The food we make in our own kitchen seems sad and lifeless in comparison to the hot magic they are making over at Pier 51. I cannot express to you how good our experience really was. The view over the Maschsee was stellar. The service was perfect. My wine glass was refilled as if by ghosts. My broken German was easily understood. The other customers were all relaxed and quiet -- probably because they were rich enough to afford Pier 51's prices without worrying about making rent. This place is not cheap. We had a gift certificate and we went positively apesh*t. We ordered 3-course meals, plus 2 appetizers, 1 bottle of wine and a dessert. It ran us €115 euros. That's just under $150 American dollars, or the price of approximately 32 half-liters of Beck's beer (if you decide not to go to Pier 51 and instead go to a German soccer bar to get hammered with your bros). This is their website: http://www.pier51.de/ (Use Google Chrome so you can translate it into English.) And here's our website: http://ohgodmywifeisgerman.com/ (Because we think it'll make you laugh before your dinner at Pier 51.) Sincerely, -- Oh God, My Wife Is German.
