Small, friendly and they've got good coffee. The Nutella donuts are worth making a pit stop in Goulburn for alone.

Overpriced meals, shocking service and a hair…read more Went in today for the lunch service which there were not many patrons at the time. Had to wait a significant amount of time before the waitress (after being told by another member of staff) to come and take our order, which was an ordeal in itself. The food arrived promptly with one of the dishes missing which i was informed the waitress had forgot to place the order when asked if i still wanted the missing meal i declined, as the meal that we recieved was quite large enough to share. The incompetent waitress then went and told the kitchen staff and made it appear as though i had purposefully changed my mind about wanting the dish. She came back out and asked if i was sure i didnt want it, i assumed now the it had already been made so i gave in and said okay. To which i heard another remark from the kitchen staff, along the lines of "so he wants it now", followed by alot of unprofessional bitching. All up we spent the good part of $100 on 2 sub par dishes and 2 drinks and some very poor customer service. 10/10 would not recommend.

The menu is quite extensive from light snacks, main meals, desserts and alcoholic beverages. We had a pumpkin soup, crepe and hot chips. The food is okay, pretty ordinary really, and the prices quite high. It is nice to sit in an old fashion style booth though and the service is good. A bit of a family restaurant. Probably should have ordered an ice cream sundae! Roses Cafe across the road has better quality food.

One thing you can guarantee on a family road trip is that there will be a lot of pies consumed. The…read morepie is ideal road trip food - fast, portable and can be eaten one handed at the wheel if necessary (make sure it's not super hot inside before attempting this - a mouthful of lava while speeding down the highway can pose some challenges in staying on the road, especially when the lava leaking from the bitten pie starts to run down your arm and fall into your lap). A bad pie is pretty bad. The service station 4n20 is one of the worst eating experiences ever. Fortunately pretty much every country town you pass through will have a bakery that either makes pies on site or at the very least has something better in the pie warmer than the luke warm, soggy 4n20 in a plastic bag on offer at the servo. Today, the lunchtime hunger pangs struck just out of Goulburn. A quick search turned up Bryant's bakery. Apparently a local legend for quality pies. We pulled off the main drag, walked in and grabbed ourselves a few. And you know what? They are pretty good. I had pepper steak and an apple pie to finish. Others had steak and mushroom, apple and loganberry, sausage rolls and curried lamb. They were all good. The apple pie was a standout though. Really nice pastry. We washed them down with milkshakes. Best milkshakes I have had in a very long time. The sort you used to get as a kid - a huge metal cup filled to the brim with frothy milk and thickened with a huge quantity of ice-cream. Fantastic. If you are passing through Goulburn and need lunch on the run, this is the place to go.
