Elegant Relic is both a home furnishing store, with a fair mix of redone antique items and modern equivalents. But they also have a cute clothing boutique that has some unusual items. There's a vintage vibe to everything. Maybe it's the subdued lighting, the scented candles and the hardwood floors, but everything is well displayed and draws you in. The clothing in the upstairs area (hen feathers) has a bohemian feel with mostly unstructured garments, but that might be owing more to the time of year than anything else. Although I didn't find anything I had to have, it was nice change of pace. The owner directed me to quite a few items on special and owing to her salesmanship skills, nearly had me buying it all. She wasn't pushy about it, though, and that itself was pretty remarkable. For the most part though, when I preferred to browse without a sales person following me around, the Elegant Relic staff let that happen. It's not a particularly inexpensive store, but they are consistent other stores of this kind. Elegant Relic does have something in nearly all price points though, and enough to let me find a nice gift without breaking the bank.

I bought a bracelet for $56 after tax at Saks Off Fifth online. The bracelet website listing said "Diameter, about 8'-8.5"." This indicates 8 feet to 8.5 inches, obviously a typo, but it seems to indicate 8-8.5 inches diameter. I measured the bracelet with a ruler, and it was only 2.5 inches in diameter. It stretches to 4 inches, but I think it would break beyond that. The item is the Jean Claude Turquoise, Hematite and Sterling Silver Beaded Bracelet. The beads are waxy and feel plasticky. The wire connecting the beads is a cheap plastic wire, which could be found in a kid's bracelet-making kit. The bead color is absolutely different from the listing image, much darker and more uniform in color, and not typical of other turquoise. I am not pursuing a return because Saks Off Fifth's return process is a nightmare and takes far longer than the 30 days they say it will take, requiring a BBB complaint and getting the run-around over and over before resolution (which I experienced with another purchase with them). I also visited the physical Mebane location, and there, the staff were helpful and the selection was OK. My review primarily reflects my online experience with the same company.

Now I am in telephone calls with them again to try and get my money. They steal money and I think they do it on purpose, hoping that customers won't notice that they did not get the money back. While it is not unusual to encounter the occasional sales representative who may come across as rude or pretentious, the treatment we received at this store was far from satisfactory. We felt constantly followed by 1 employee and then profiled by the rest. Customers should not be judged or treated differently based on assumptions or stereotypes. It was only after the cashier checked us out and requested my phone number to access my shopping history with Tory Burch (this includes boutiques, outlets & website) that their approach suddenly became much nicer. However, by that point, the damage had already been done. The inventory available was the same one from last years' 2022 outlet holiday collection spread around the store in different spots, so not that much variety at the end of the day... If you're looking for newer and more stylish items, it might be worth exploring other Tory Burch outlets like Houston, Miami, or Orlando and contacting their stores to get one of their friendly sales reps so they can even source items if they're not available at their outlet store and ship them to you.
