I had a new AC installed in 2023 with Grimes and since that time, I have had 4 service calls due to issues with the AC. The first issues was leaking and it was due to an issue which became my issue that I had to pay for. The following 3 times again leaking in the same place, they come out drain and in time it begins again. They do not cover labor after the first year but I paid for labor after the first incident which was less than a year, why because they installed it improperly which was my fault? The last 3 leaks are exactly what they said they fixed after less than a year that I paid for. After the first incident I called the manufacture and gave them the serial number of the unit, and it was not from 2023 but from 2021. I believe they sell used units and just rig the unit to get by. In the words of my dad, crooks! Side Note; I had already hired another company to continue with my maintenance since I was unhappy with them and they came out to service the AC November of 2025 and drained the unit, and here we are 5 months later with a leak. The only reason why I called Grimes again I assumed this issue would be under warranty, otherwise I would have called the new company to fix it. I am sure they would have charged me less than Grimes for "labor" cost. read more

Disappointed as of recently, found another company to handle future repairs. I had a new AC unit installed by this company in 2022 and have used them for service calls since. Their technicians have consistently been prompt when responding to issues. Recently, I was advised that my evaporator coil needs replacement. The part is under warranty, but I was quoted $1,050 for labor. While I understand that labor is typically not covered under warranty, I had questions given the relatively recent installation of the unit. I reached out to the office for clarification on the repair, warranty details, and whether there were any alternative options. I also requested documentation related to the service and the specific part involved. While the information was eventually provided, it required multiple follow-ups on my end to receive clear answers. I also asked whether the warranty part could be ordered through the company and installed by another provider. I was later informed that this is not something they are able to do, which is important information for customers to be aware of when considering their options. During email communication, references were made to internal discussions regarding my inquiries about pricing and service. As a customer, I found that type of information unnecessary and not relevant to resolving the issue. Overall, while technician response time was strong, the communication and support from the office made it more difficult than expected to make an informed decision. I would recommend that customers ask detailed questions upfront about warranty coverage, labor costs, and how parts are handled if exploring alternative service options. read more

Prices are through the roof paid $1500 to have a coil replaced and I wanted them to come back a couple weeks later cause it broke down on Labor Day weekend and they were gonna charge me $300 just to come out and look at it read more

I was charged $ 950.00 to replace my 3 year old a/c compressor.Grimes installed the air conditioner in late 2021.The part was under warranty, so the bill was for 2.5 hours of labor and was not itemized.This charge is at least double what it should have been . The repair technician was great, but Grimes has lost another customer.If you want to pay double go ahead ,I will not. read more

Horrible customer service. Grimes installed our A/C unit and we had nothing but problems with it. They had to come back several times to fix what their installers screwed up. Most recently, spent three days of my vacation waiting on them to fix my A/C: first day they were scheduled, they didn't show; third day waited most of the day and when they showed, they didn't have the part and had to order it; said they'd be back in the morning of a specific day, and when I called at NOON on that day to check the status, I was told we weren't on the schedule. I had to raise hell to get someone out. Used to have a maintenance agreement with them, not anymore. Will never use Grimes again. read more

Installed two new air conditioners in June 2019 and purchased annual maintenance program. Since then we have had two motor replacements in one of the units. 10 days ago had our service maintenance with a from the tech. We are now sitting in a home with no air conditioning and when we called Grimes at 8 am we were told we would be the first appt. When I called at 11 am to find out what had happened to the tech, was told no dispatcher would ever tell us we would be first. Great way to treat a "preferred customer" with a service contract. I'm hot and a liar and owner of obviously a sub standard unit with two, and possibly a third, motor replacement! read more

After being recommended by 2 friends I contacted Grimes to work on my mothers furnace A/C.I was told up front of the minimum charge. The serviceman was very professional, diagnosed the problem, replaced the part. All for less than $85 . The outfit that contacted her this summer charged over $300 for a "system check" and said she should really replace the system. Stick with the local family owned companies, and I'd have no problem recommending Grimes. read more

I had excellent service from Grimes AC! I bought a house that had a nasty old 5-ton AC that was extremely inefficient. I called Grimes AC to come take a look and see if they could make it work better. The owner himself came over and showed me that the unit was in poor shape. The intake was coated with layers of hair, dust, grease, and cigarette tar. The filters were missing and the unit was not wired up to code. Mr. Grimes recommended replacing that unit with two smaller units to increase efficiency. He was 100% correct. My utilities bill has decreased by 40%! That is almost $200 PER MONTH SAVINGS! They were very thorough and installed my air conditioner for maximum efficiency. They calculated the best possible duct and vent sizes and placement in each room. The overall price was very affordable on its own, but through the city utilities company, I was eligible for an energy savings credit. Grimes took care of all of the paperwork for that and provided it to me to deliver to FPUA. Between the energy credit and utilities bill savings, both units will pay for themselves in about 3 years! Grimes has a customer for life! read more

During the recent 95+ heat wave our A/C was slowly dying. I called for service and Grimes quickly sent a serviceman. After checking the unit he found that we had a slow leak and we could not get the temp below 85*. He fixed the system to allow us the next 2 days with relief until the new unit was installed by Louie and Calib. They were professional and completed the job in a timely manner. They made certain to clean up and put everything back in place so we were left with nothing to do but sit back and "chill". My 32 year old air handler started leaking in a beachfront rental unit I have owned for 8 years. Upon inspection, it had a Grimes AC sticker from the original installation . It always worked great . It just finally wore out and rusted out from the salt air. I figured I would use the same company and hope the next one lasts another 32 years! Grimes was able to come over the next day and was able to get it running until it was replaced a couple days later. The price was very fair and the work was excellent. I found out I had an issue with my A/C on a Sunday afternoon in Aug (Hot day), I called Grimes and to my surprise they were available and willing to send one of their guys out within several hours. He checked out my system and within 30 minutes my house was cooling down once again. Their prices were very reasonable I was not only cool again but very happy, being a Sunday I was not sure what to expect, thank you guys so very much. I've been a customer of this business for almost 4 years, since they installed a new A/C for me. I have had a maintenance agreement with them since then. This is by far the most disappointing experience I've had with them. I came home from work yesterday to a house that was 79°F. I went outside and discovered the fan was not operating, despite the fact that air was coming out of the A/C vents. Although they advertise "Whether it is for your home or business, you can depend on our service 24 hours a day! With experienced professionals and family values, we understand the importance of your business. That is why we have on-call, 24-hour dispatch service ready to help you with your AC needs.", this hasn't been my experience with them. I called their answering service 3 times last night, the first time being at 11:58 PM,the last time at 1:38 A.M. I remained awake for hours, waiting for a callback which never came. I could barely sleep due to the heat and humidity in the house. I paged the answering service again at 7:30 AM. I was told the office opened at 8:00 A.M., and they would leave a message for the office staff. I waited until 8:34 A.M., then finally called the office myself. They paged a service manager, who called me back 45 minutes later, apologizing for the fact that the on-call technician had failed to call me back. When I suggested my service call should be prioritized under the circumstances, I was told that " like all A/C businesses in the summertime, our schedule is completely filled. Let me see when I can fit you in." I have to work today and tomorrow, and do not have the time to stay awake waiting for someone to call me back, AGAIN. The service manager did call back within the hour, but was unwilling to negotiate the charge for labor and the service call to mitigate my multiple inconveniences. He said the service technician should be here by noon, 12 hours after my initial call. Not a happy camper read more

Horrible company! They do NOT care about their clients, only $$$. When I built my house in the earlier 80s they put my unit in. Since then I have given them continuous business as normal wear and tear happened. Six years ago I even had my unit fully replaced due to age. Sept 2012 I was having issues, and called the company I have trusted in for years. They told me that my unit was shot and had to be replaced?! After 6 years? At that time they did replace a part and let me with that news of a $5000 job. So I had another company come out to get a second opinion recently. $300 later, the unit was fixed and guess what? It didn't have to be replaced. The new company had to replace a part this company put in in Sept though! It's a part that was guaranteed for 3 years though so I called to get my money back. Oh that didn't happen, of course. Poor service, lying to repeat a customer who have them business for over 25 years. Do not trust them for your first job then! They obviously don't care about anything but their pay check. It's ashame a company like this has lasted this long. Pleas take my advice and stay far away from them. I know a lot of people in this town for I am also a small business owner....trust me I will spread some quality word of mouth negative advertising for them. read more
