Avoid! Instructed Griffiths Ings to assist in the purchase of our first property. Thanks to them, we lost over ÂŁ4000 having to rectify all the issues with our lease when we came to sell. All simple basic conveyancing that should have been picked up by them, which then wouldn't have been up to us to pay to resolve. read more

My mortgage broker recommended I use Griffiths Ings for a property transaction I which started in October 2015. They were considerably more expensive than some other quotes I had sought, but I decided to use them to keep things as simple and streamlined possible. There was 'no chain' and I was as keen for a quick transaction as the seller was. This is the kind of deal that could have been completed in a month at the most. Things seemed to be progressing slowly and by January I was getting concerned. I chased them on many occasions to no avail. Then I saw all the reviews online saying how they were mega slow. I enquired with the seller who said they seemed to be sending pages of questions to the sellers solicitors, none of which I had asked and none of the answers were ever provided to me. Ridiculous questions that had no bearing on whether I wanted to buy the house. It was a buy to let and I wanted it. I didn't have any question. Yet, they pressed on with questions such as 'has the property ever been burgled'. The questions were not sent all at once, each time they received answers, they sent more. The seller even contacted me to tell me his solicitor had said this is all very odd. Then came March 2016 came and I was conscious that new budget changes meant that if we didn't complete by April 5th, (I think), we would have to pay an extra 3% of the purchase price on top, in tax. They kept sending 'enquiries'. The outcome was that I paid over the odds, to use a solicitor who dragged the matter out until 2 days after the deadline and cost me an extra ÂŁ2060 in tax. Then I read online (property forums) about people with committed and conscientious conveyancers who worked through the night to close deals before the deadline. I wouldn't use Griffiths Ings again if they were the last property solicitors on the planet. Don't take my word for it, read the other reviews online saying the same as mine. Slow and Expensive. read more

If I could leave a minus star rating, I would! Avoid using this firm at all costs. I am a business owner myself and If I treated my clients / customers with the same utter incompetence that Griffith Ings have shown towards me, I simply wouldn't be in business for long. I'm now entering the fourth month following completion and they still refuse to return a ÂŁ500 "retention fee" that they included in the fees deducted from me. Despite numerous phone calls and emails from me they still claim to be "chasing" it up and waiting for other people to confirm receipt of documents etc. This unacceptable customer service has forced me to contact the legal ombudsman to resolve. read more

I have used Griffiths Ings on a number of transactions both in my name and in the name of my company for the purchase of a number of buy-to-let properties as well as my own residential home. On every occasion the solicitor who has dealt with me, Michael Lawson, has been thoroughly professional. The charges have always been reasonable and competitive with the market-place. They are currently dealing with four purchases, as I write this, and I shall continue to use them in the future unless there is a dramatic change in the level of service for the worse. I have no hesitation in recommending them, especially Michael Lawson. read more

Absolutely awful solicitors! Would never recommend this solicitors, they keep you waiting for no reason and don't get anything done. They make a house sale unnecessarily stressful, when it should be an exciting thing to do. They make even the most simple things seem difficult. If you are in no rush whatsoever and don't mind waiting forever for your house sale or purchase and not really bothered about customer service then these are the right people for you. read more

Oh dear these guys are awful I used these guys as recommended by Peter Alan thinking we could buy the house quicker as the seller was using their Griffith ing Cardiff office. Oh no - the complete opposite. So slow, we bought an empty house with no chain We bought house in Nov 2016 and it competed in Feb. - agony slow The first alarm bell was over 2 weeks to receive first acknowledgement. I chased a number of times explaining my family needed a quick move as all our stuff was in storage. We were living out of a couple of boxes. The lady assured me they could move quickly These guys cannot, I wish I ditched them then. Everything they sent to me was turned around in one day and sent back registered delivery - I would call them a few day later checking they got it. They most always replied no. I would speak to Royal Mail and they would give the name and time one of Griffiths img staff received it next day. I'd give GI a call back with the details and they just say 'oh yeah' and that's it. I would call on a Thursday and they would say - just got your searches in, we just identifying issues and will send out today. Over a week later and nothing arrived yet was completely normal. And the full extent of their highlighted review was 2 x little pencil 'x's on whole property search Christian there is shocking I my final illustration was out by ÂŁ4k. I even Received another Nigerian couples final paperwork in the post to me Never use these guys - shockingly expensive, shockingly slow shocking mistakes !!!! Dale Irving read more

So slow, 5 months and still not a completed house sale. Other solicitors in the chain have been ready for 2 months and are Frustrated with the lack of communication and not returning emails or phone calls. The Solicitors are self-employed and work under the umbrella of Griffiths Ings and the one we are using has no boss's to answer too so therefore have no urgency to complete their tasks. I'm sure not all the solicitors working out of Griffiths Ings are incompetent but the one we are using is. So be careful when choosing this company. read more

Interested to read that others have had the same experience as me. DO NOT USE THESE SOLICITORS. If anyone from Griffiths Ings reads these reviews, please know that I am telling all and sundry how terrible you are based on my own personal experiences. EXPENSIVE. SLOW. POOR ATTENTION TO DETAIL. EVASIVE. POOR ADVICE. POOR COMMUNICATION. MISLEADING. UNTRUSTWORTHY. After accepting an offer on my property in August last year from a 'proceedable, cash buyer without a chain', by October Griffiths Ings started offering me completion dates on a weekly basis that kept falling through. It transpired the buyer was in fact neck deep in a chain, with no sign of a completion date and this had been a tactic? a scam? You tell me. The estate agents maintained that they had communicated the facts to Griffiths Ings and could prove it. The sale went through December/January, by which time I had lost loads of money on all sorts. Also Griffiths Ings failed to keep me informed or pay me before the buyer moved in. Communication was poor throughout, to the extent that I left the furniture for the buyer thinking it a clause, paying full council tax on an empty property when all the while he didn't even require it. Griffiths Ings are evasive and misleading when trying to communicate with them, with lots of over efficacious minions with scripted, standard answers, who won't let you speak to anyone relevant. Griffiths Ings by way of trying to uphold blame of estate agents actually advised me to withhold the estate agent fee at the end of the sale. By withhold, I mean Griffiths Ings kept it. When I got legal threats from the estate agent with regards to their fee and chased Griffiths Ings for it, I got no response, no answer, fobbed off and ignored. I had to beg for an extension or would have faced a legal challenge or had to cough up twice. I got the money out of Griffiths Ings eventually at final hour. After trying to extract an explanation for why I was misinformed and mislead for over four months, and after emails and phone calls ignored by relevant parties. GERALDINE. I had a placatory phone call from senior partner Julian Ings who assured me he would look into the matter, get to the bottom of it and reimburse me if he found his firm to be at fault. He never got back to me and ignored subsequent emails. This is not even the first time they have turned a property purchase into a farce. I should have known better. I have been using them for over 10 years and this apparently counts for nothing. Just avoid them, at best they are incompetent. read more

Absolutely terrible! Take ages to reply and cause unnecessary delays. If you want your purchase to go smoothly then do not touch with a barge pole. read more
