I was transferred to one of the CPAs who made it clear from the beginning of the phone call that he had no interest in helping me. He was literally sighing into the phone after the first 15 seconds acting dismissive and annoyed that he might have to do some work. Before I was even able to finish explaining my simple situation he told me it would be at least $700 if he had any time which is probably didn't. I have never encountered this kind of rudeness to a potential customer. Fortunately, I just contacted a different firm who was exceptionally helpful.

Upon assuming this…read moreresponsibility, I discovered that she had failed to file federal or state income taxes for a period of six years. During this time, she sold her primary residence and moved her residence from California to Virginia. In attempting to resolve this tax problem, I contacted two CPAs. One absolutely refused to involve himself in the matter, and the second ghosted me after our initial consultation where I described my issue. Aris X. Hart, Esq., and Safeguard Law quickly and professionally untangled this very complex tax situation for me. In accomplishing this goal, Aris and his team contacted the Social Security Administration to obtain several SSA-1099s, and several other entities to secure 1099-Rs, 1099-INTs and 1099-DIVs issued during this six-year period to develop a complete picture of my mother's tax situation. Aris and his team also contacted county records in California to develop a complete picture of the sale of my mother's primary residence in California. At the end of the day, Aris prepared thirteen state and federal returns. Throughout this work, Aris was extremely professional and regularly updated me on his progress in untangling my mother's tax problems. He demonstrated compassion, painstaking attention to detail, and was clearly motivated to help me in any way possible. As a result, I can without hesitation provide Aris with my highest recommendation. I look forward to working with him in the future.

I have used multiple firms in the past and I have to say this firm makes the tax process as easy as it can possibly be. I got married in November 2017 and the transition to bring my wife on board and do our joint taxes was great. This was my wife's first time using an accounting firm and I have to say - I was even more impressed with how they handled it. One of the partners (managing partner) called and walked her through everything step by step. Who takes time to do this, especially when there are a ton of other clients (and probably more important ones). We are small potatoes compared to many other people and firms they represent, so I was very impressed that we were given this kind of time and treatment. Abod & Associates contacted me this week to send in our 2018 info to date so they can start a year-end review to ensure we are on the right track. This practice is one of the many reasons why I continue to use Abod & Associates to this day. I highly recommend this accounting firm to anyone.

You guessed it...resubmitted a corrected return and received $5,000+ reimbursement from the IRS. Don't do it folks...call someone else. It's unfortunate that this needs to be done...but it's well earned. I trusted the principle in this firm during a very difficult time...when I needed a neutral objective professional. Maybe it was the expression of empathy and understanding he expressed when agreeing to take us on that prompted my confidence in his ability to do so. My spouse & I are working our last set of taxes before finalizing divorce and to my dismay the neutrality and objectivity went out the door. Tax return drafts highly favored my spouse...mortgage interest, property tax for multiple properties...instead of dividing in a manner that resembled our circumstance...fair & equatable...were skewed to one side. And still worse he presented incomplete information in an attempt to get me to agree to a submission that favored...yet again...my spouse. If I took the bate & agreed, it would have cost me $ I cannot deal with a breach of trust and confidence...an inability to maintain an objective professional sense of loyalty to a client...whether under special circumstance or just processing a tax return. Highly disappointed...I would not recommend this firm.

After paying the initial deposit and submitting the required forms, I received no communication for several weeks. Furthermore, I was required to pay the final fee before having a consultation or seeing any documents. The materials I eventually received did not align with my intentions, but rather reflected a literal interpretation of the forms. A brief consultation prior to drafting would have been far more efficient. Additionally, the subsequent revisions took several weeks and resulted in documents containing both graphical and factual errors. The other firm lamented how complicated my taxes would be and quoted me a fee nearly three times what Nelson & Mudd charges. They also consistently think of everything without me having to point it out, e.g., depreciation for rental property, deductible expenses associated with a home purchase etc. Excellent all-around.
