For nearly 40 years Daggett was the hub of the Mojave Desert. Historically, Daggett served as the transportation hub for the silver and borax mined out of Calico. It was the recognized commercial center, the outfitting point for mines in Death Valley, the Calicos, Vanderbilt and dozens of other locations. Now it is just a stop along RT 66. The cemetery is another must see on a Rt. 66 trip. There are about 300 graves dating from the 1880s to the present day on a desolate patch of land between highways 40 and 66.
