It's also weird how they at times have a lot of TSA level fake security while a drug dealer is literally cattle calling that he is selling weed 20 feet away from them. Like why not just call the police & have them escorted off the premises? At times I've seen security act just as wild as the passengers. The station itself is nice. It looks like it was recently renovated. It's pretty much a bus depot with buses that go all over the southside coming here. As always KEEP YOUR HEAD ON A SWIVEL & CALL THE POLICE if you need help. There are a ton of shady characters. I've seen people before try to get a CTA employee to help them out with an issue & act surprised when the employee doesn't help them. Just like the "security theatre" that is TSA, CTA isn't law enforcement... they CAN'T enforce laws. They will only assist you by making a report & contacting the actual police.

Watch your back too especially getting on the Red Line or waiting for Pace Suburban Bus or CTA buses. This station smells like smoke, cheap beer. Don't risk on taking the elevator unless if you ever smelled a crackhead urine. I only go there if I gotta transfer different buses or going straight to Downtown Chicago on CTA Red Line. Don't trust anyone. Do not take the taxi. I had seen few fights there. I had gotten few starred. I had beggars asking me for money too. Just say no if any people asked you anything.

And I am not kidding about the number of times I traveled by Bus (and even more times than I listed above if you count the Trailways Bus Lines, plus Megabus, BoltBus, Lux Bus America, Vamoose, and RedCoach. Founded in 1914, Greyhound Lines, Inc. is the largest provider of intercity bus transportation, serving 2400 destinations across North America with a modern, environmentally friendly fleet. It has become an American icon, providing safe, enjoyable and affordable travel to nearly 16 million passengers each year in the United States and Canada. The Greyhound running dog is one of the most-recognized brands in the world. Greyhound is now the biggest bus company out of all of them, at least in the United States. They cover all states except Alaska and Hawaii, which both have their own State initiated long-haul bus services. Amenities on all Greyhound bus routes include Wi-Fi, power outlets, restrooms, air conditioning, and reclining seats; with some bus routes including video monitors for movies and tourism/travel videos. In 1987 Greyhound Lines came under new ownership. Greyhound Lines later acquired the former Continental Trailways company, the largest member of the Trailways system, effectively eliminating a large portion of Greyhound's bus competition, which included the other Main bus companies in the US, such as Megabus, BoltBus, Lux Bus America, Vamoose, and RedCoach. COVID-19 caused a 95 percent drop in ridership. Thus, Greyhound reduced service on March 25, 2020 and suspended six routes on April 5, 2020. On May 6, 2020, Greyhound Canada announced it would permanently shut down all its remaining bus services which it did on May 13, 2021. One of the reasons that I traveled so often on Greyhound's Bus Lines is because Greyhound offered Weekly, Monthly, Bi-Monthly and Tri-Monthly Bus-Passes at a substantial discount. This allowed me to actually "Travel" and even Tour different parts of North America including most of southern and central Canada, Northern Mexico, and nearly every State in the United States. This was a Great way for me to travel... at least when I was younger.

Tons of platforms (close to 30 I think) and several places to choose from to grab a bite to eat. Each time I have traveled in and out of this station has been a decent experience. Though, I do still sometimes get lost. It's an older building but it's pretty well maintained and clean. Folks working there are actually more than willing to help out. That's petty refreshing. I absoluely love the architecture of the station and its Deco nod. Not to mention the grand architectural elements within the interior. Traveling in and out of Union Station is nostalgic; like being in a 1940s romance film.

Some of of the waiting areas feel luxurious; if you have a while to wait it's certainly not gloomy! It's definitely a large, busy station with people coming and going so if you haven't navigated it before it's wise to get familiar with the building. There are some nice food options so it's nice to relax with a Jamba Juice. Kind, efficient staff. The Amtrak trains at Union Station have always been very reliable and there's just something so charming about traveling by train! When I went to college in downtown Chicago, I'd take the Hiawatha train back to Milwaukee every weekend and it was always a great experience. The key is definitely picking the train times that it's not going to be a zoo of foot traffic inside. Consider taking the train for a unique experience and enjoying a walk around a beautiful building with a lot of history!

As an Emerald member with the oneworld alliance, I have always received complimentary seat selection on partner airlines. That changed with Royal Jordanian. I paid $140 for two seats that were clearly shown as a two seat row. When my wife and I boarded, we discovered the row actually had three seats. No one pays extra for a middle seat -- ever. My seat number was k6 and the seat has no cushion whatsoever, I had to stack pillows and blanket to prevent back pain Most incompetent company I've had to deal with. Called someone in Detroit to get information about the plane and flight, he gives me another number to call I believe it was in Chicago. I call that number, another person tells me we don't handle this, you have to call another number. Called that number, that person gave me the original Detroit number. I called Detroit back, another person answers and gives me the information I was asking to begin with. Not done yet. I finally check in and get on the plane, plane was gorgeous and flight attendants for most part were very hard working. Half the people on this flight were idiots, loud, arrogant, dirty and bathrooms even after a couple hours in flight were dirty, urine on the floor, clogged up sinks. Absolutely disgusting!!!! Like a fourth world country on a top of the line plane. I will never ever fly Royal Jordanian again!!!! Would rather pay twice as much and get to Amman in 3 days then fly this airline. Rather take any other airline that go through that hell again.

That delay caused me to miss my connection to Los Angeles. Without asking or notifying me, American rebooked me on a flight going back in the direction I came from, only to put me on another flight the next morning. On top of that, I had originally paid for a window seat in row 12 -- yet I was reassigned to a middle seat in the very back of the plane next to the toilets. And the customer service? One rep put me on hold and never came back. The next basically told me to "deal with it" before doing the exact same thing. For an airline with "American" in the name, this experience was anything but representative of the best of America. Do better, I would give you a zero but I'm being kind.
