All tickets, once sent via email to the recipient, may not be printed by Greyhound staff even though your name is on the passenger manifest. Your seat is paid for and empty, and under greyhound's policy (specifically im Canada) it absolutely must remain paid for and empty. To impose a $15 fee for having the ticket bought on the Passenger's behalf is even more outrageous. Boltbus is also owned by Greyhound and has none of these problems. How is anyone to understand any of this. A backwards, cruel and draconian bureaucracy. Both the Driver and the Security guard sympathized and agreed the system needs to change. 100% Fraud! Do not book! A couple of days ago my partner and I bought tickets on the Greyhound website (worth 100$) for a round trip (for 2) from Vancouver, BC to Nanaimo, BC. (For those who don't know, there is a Ferry ride in between.) This offer was existent on the website (see image), we printed out the tickets through direct print and also received a confirmation email (see image). We took the Greyhound to the ferry station (Horseshoe Bay), where unloaded, gave our tickets to the woman at the entrance (yes, we actually had mock tickets for the ferry ride) just to find out our Ferry ride was not covered. This was not noted anywhere! Not on the website, or the email, or even in the fine print on the tickets. We pay the ferry, already angry. Then arrive at Departure Bay (Ferry dock in Nanaimo), walk to the Greyhound bus standing there to be transported downtown. You guessed it: That wasn't included either. The bus driver informed us that the buses stop there and we would have to take a public bus to get to our hotel. To make this clear, we paid 100$ just to get to the Ferry station (and back), even though it clearly states Nanaimo on the tickets. Then we paid 66$ for the ferry and 10$ for the public bus. So 176$ total. We called Greyhound today to receive a refund. The operator told us we wouldn't get one and that none of the managers at Greyhound would give us one. We told them we would take public and legal action if we couldn't solve this privately. Our complaint was noted down and sent to the management, but we were told we would most probably not even be contacted back by them. This is a blunt scam. And no, I am not just trying to get a free ride. I would have never bought 25$ tickets just to be driven to a ferry terminal that we could have reached with public transport. Client service was incredibly unhelpful. Clearly Incompetent, and unhelpful. Needed to change ticket time and date. They were very unclear and very rude. The representative was not able to get information regarding the new bus schedules for the different date. The representative gave me wrong prices, and contradicted her manager. The manager himself was rude, and was unable to confirm any times or dates but wanted me to pay to change my times and dates. When I tried to filled a complaint, they completely ignored the fact that they were rude and tried to say that I was simply complaining about the fee to change. Unfair disappointing service! We had booked 2 tickets for 14th September. Each ticket cost us 32 $. We called them to reschedule on an earlier bus which had seats available. The rescheduled bus tickets cost 40 $. We asked them to charge the difference amount to reschedule but they charged us 20$ extra per ticket to reschedule! So basically we ended up paying around 40 $ extra for the trip instead of 15 $. And this is just the start! So, my friend I got Greyhound tickets from Detroit to Toronto but due to inclement weather they cancelled all areiving and departing buses.... 30 minutes before our departure. I guess I understand it and all, but as we were leaving to taxi over the bridge, an arriving bus pulled into the lot. Okay? But we were just told no buses would be coming in.... Then, we were told a greyhound bus from Chatham-Kent, Ontario to Toronto, Ontario would take us roughly 3 and a half hours... it took us almost 7 hours even with our driver speeding. Delayed 2 and a half hours from Niagara to Toronto on 1/9/2019 with no any notice for customers.

I used Greyhound from Mississuaga to Niagara Falls. The bus arrived 30 minutes late and the bus broke down in the middle of the freeway. We were stuck on the bus for 2.5 hours in the HEAT. The driver kept giving us false information relating to the timing of when the rescue bus is coming. We were getting baked in the bus for 2.5 hours and when we got on the rescue bus, the bus smelled like urine the entire ride. We were supposed to be scheduled to get to Niagara Falls by 1:25 PM but ended up arriving at 4:30 PM. I had a round trip back to Mississuaga at 5:50 PM with Greyhound and missed the bus due to this incident. I called customer service to get a full refund and they are not able to process the refund. Customer service is terrible and not helpful. DO NOT EVER TAKE THIS BUS. read more

Routinely poor customer service. Both by email and by phone customer service has been not helpful in any way. Only received textbook robotic answers that resulted in nothing being done about the issues. A couple of weeks ago, I was comparing prices in several different windows. Turns out that buying two one way tickets was less expensive than buying one round trip ticket. I pressed purchase in the window for a one-way ticket and what comes up? The receipt for the more expensive two way ticket! How did that even happen? What is wrong with your website? Of course it is the weekend, there is no customer service on the phone, I send an email, get a generic response that doesn't address the issue. I tell them that and get no reply. On one of the trips I received a $5 coupon because the bus was late to arrive. I was pleasantly surprised, only to be disappointed that I can't use it online. So I can pay $35 for a ticket from Ottawa to Toronto online, or I can pay $65 at the terminal and get $5 off. Thanks for the empty gesture Greyhound. read more

I shipped a package with them to Vancouver Island. Not only did it not get to the town it was supposed to, it was delivered to another person with a completely different name in a suburb of Vancouver. I have spoken to them again and again on the phone and filled out lost forms for reimbursement and they haven't gotten back to me. Terrible! I'm stuck here on the bus from Toronto to NYC, I have no idea how I'm going to get through this for the next 11 hours. I have heard that Greyhound are awful but I thought to myself that long ride like that they have probably put the best bus they have. Going to Greyhound.com for a trip to Toronto-NY was cheaper than the .ca site and offered a 10% discount coupon. Plus the .com site indicates two baggages allowance for checkin and .ca site indicates one. Trip duration ranged from 10 to 13 hrs depending on the time of the departure. I m 5'4" petite female. The seats should have been roomier. I was with my boyfriend so it was ok and I could spread out. The seats are not bad just could be roomier. I hate this first-come first-serve thing. You have to line up at least an hr before to get a seat you want and especially if you want it together. Why can't they give you seat numbers and allow you to pick seats like in airplanes and that way you don't have to waste 2.5 hrs at least on a return trip just waiting in a lineup. But then I guess couples won't have the same option of going early and having at least a chance at getting a seat together. The driver was funny. Customs did not take long at all and was smooth. There were a couple of stops on the way - short ones. I never used the toilet. My bf did - didn't ask him. Must take food with you. Wifi did not work on the CDA side but did on the US side as it's a US bus. Coming back mostly did not work. Now the buses are the same from what I understand .com or .ca so don't know why there is a price diff and how would they monitor two different baggage allowances. Call center/phone service was horrible - full of bimbos who could not put two thoughts together especially if it involved any common sense or any real comprehension requirement. Overall the bus trip was timely and decent. I would go this way again. It was about $150 but for $250 I could have bought a flight if I had bought it a week earlier and not left it till the last minute. Train was ridiculously expensive - close to $400 read more

I had a bus from Peterborough to Ottawa that was scheduled to depart at 6:15. After waiting in the parking lot for a while we checked the bus tracker and realized that the bus was not coming until 7:37. Given that we had about an hour until the bus was scheduled to arrive, we decided to go get food quickly. At about 6:55 the tracker said that the bus was scheduled to arrive at 8:03. We arrived back at to the Greyhound station parking lot at 7:10. We realized that the 3 people who had been forced to wait in the cold outside after the greyhound attendant kicked them out when the station "closed" were gone. So we decided to update the tracker. The tracker said that the bus had departed from the Peterborough station a few minutes before and was travelling to Ottawa. I called the greyhound number advertised on the bottom of my ticket. It was an automatic message that gave no option to speak to an attendant. I then called the local number for the Ottawa station, which directed me to the same number I had previously called, giving me no option to speak to an attendant. When I arrived home I discovered another number to call. This one actually had the option to speak to an attendant. He gave me a ticket for the next day as a replacement. I then asked him if I could have some kind of compensation for the huge inconvenience, and he said sorry ma'am, that was voided when we changed the date on the ticket. We actually usually charge a $20 fee to change your ticket and I already waived that for you. (Obviously, if they would have charged me a $20 fee for missing a bus that arrived an hour earlier than it was supposed to, that would have been even more ridiculous.) Moral of the story: do not ride with Greyhound unless you absolutely have to - unless you want to wait a long time for delayed buses, and then miss your bus after it arrives an hour earlier than they tell you it would, and then treated like they are doing you a favor by not charging you $20 to replace your ticket afterwards (Like me, as I live in Ottawa and it's the only bus operating) I have only ever heard bad things about Greyhound. read more

False advertisement, the wifi on the bus was not working. I've taken Greyhound twice now and both times my first bus was late which resulted in missing my next (transfer) bus. That meant waiting an extra 2 hours for my next both to arrive. Both my driver's were extremely rude and had no patience. If I could rate 0 stars you'd better believe I could. I purchased a ticket, and because of the auto-fill fields, the purchaser's name was put under the passenger field. I indicated that the purchaser would NOT be travelling on the trip, and didn't notice it had auto-filled until I had purchased since I had filled out the form once before with the CORRECT information, but I had typed the credit card number wrong, prompting me to fill out the entire form again. Easy fix right? Just call them like any other place and tell them I need the first name (we have the same last name) changed from that to mine, that it was a mistake on my part but it's a simple fix. I get an automated email telling me I cannot change it, that I have to buy another ticket. Another $94 on this? Because they won't change my name?? I had been googling and saw that they had done it for other people, so I decided to call and get answers. I was transferred from department to department, with the first woman actually telling me "you need to read better next time". Finally, I land at someone who says she'll refund my non-refundable ticket in 7-14 business days (almost. 3. weeks.) as long as I buy another ticket on the phone with her. I say fine, as it's really my last choice. At the end, it comes to $105. She tells me that there's a fee for booking over the phone with her. It's either buy this new ticket, or not be able to go because they won't change my damn name on the ticket. $199 spent on this. All because they refuse to change ONE FIRST NAME ON A TICKET. I just checked the email now, and she spelled my address wrong. I swear to god, if I have to buy a third ticket I'm going to go insane. NEVER. USE. GREYHOUND. This was the absolute worst travel experience! I will not be taking Greyhound ever again and I will let everybody I can know how horrible it was! We payed to have no stopovers or transfers on the way there and were forced to stop for 40 minutes in Cache Creek and switch buses ,we paid more to not switch buses. On the way back we knew we had to transfer buses in Kamloops but we were bumped to a charter bus cause our transfer bus was FULL..so we waited for 3+ hours with no info on an ETA for the charter bus..meanwhile 3 other buses headed to our same destination all scheduled to leave AFTER us left us behind...we booked our tickets days in advance and left very early in the morning so we could get home at a reasonable time....We did not.. A Bus Ride through hell! I took a round trip from Toronto to NYC. What was supposed to be a mere 12 hour ride ended up being nearly 16. I bought tickets last minute, so they were pretty pricey. Plane ticket pricey. I waited in line in the freezing cold for nearly an hour at the Toronto Coach terminal. If you don't, you're not getting on the bus and will have to wait for another one (God help you). The bus finally arrives, close to when it was scheduled to depart. You would think that meant that they would leave shortly, but no. We ended up departing nearly an hour later than the scheduled time (midnight). Why? I don't know. Everything is disorganized. They have no problems making you wait for them, as they can show up whenever they want. Even though you already paid for your ticket, but who cares about the customers, right? I was happy when the bus started rolling. Though I was not happy that my (very uncomfortable) seat looked like it was chewed off by a bear, and both power outlets for the seat did not work. The wifi was very spotty. If you take the bus over night, forget about any sleep. The bus stops at least 6 times along the way, and the driver will loudly tell you what destination we are at. We kept leaving later, and later. At least we are making progress! The real highlight of the trip is when we were less than 40 minutes away from NYC and the bus driver abandoned us at some seedy gas station in New Jersey, saying that he could not work more than a certain number of hours, and we would have to wait for another hour for a new bus driver to come in and finish the trip. And the older bus driver went in a car and drove (presumably) to manhattan. What the actual F? If we were going that way anyways, why couldn't he just finish the last leg of the trip and be done with it? Needless to say, by the time we got to NYC, everyone's enthusiasm disappeared. We were just thankful not to be on that bus any more. I dreaded the trip back, but I was mentally prepared for it. I waited for hours at the disgusting port authority bus terminal where people sleep all over the place and there were even people sleeping in line. The bus came 2 hours later than it was scheduled to arrive, and it wasn't even a greyhound bus, but some old tour bus from the 80s, there was no power outlets or wifi. I had an adequate experience. I took a bus to Buffalo. I found on arriving at the terminal there was little signage or instruction on what I should do so I waited in line to see an employee. In the end she told me because I had booked and printed online I didn't need to do anything so to just take my bag outside and wait. The seat was comfortable enough. There was wifi and an electrical outlet. Boarding is a cluster-. There aren't really signs to tell you where to be and people kind of spill out of lines into areas the busses have to pull into. The only major annoyance was that the trip took an extra two hours each way due to boarder delays but that's not the bus line's fault. All in all, I'd do it again. Wow how useless is the Toronto Coach Terminal. I line up in what I think is the ticket line (there are large greyhound signs along with coach canada and various other companies) When I arrive at the front of the queue they say we dont work for greyhound. WELL THEN MAYBE TAKE DOWN THE GIGANTIC GREYHOUND SIGN BEHIND YOUR TICKET COUNTER AND MANY OF US WOULD NOT WASTE 15 MIN IN LINE. I proceed to the mini hard to find greyhound desk and wait for them to print the tickets I ordered online. Fine. When I get the ticket (since I no longer need it and was selling it on Craigslist its a normal adult fare btw) When I ask them "theres no problem selling this right?" they said yeah the drivers need ID from everyone to match the ticket" um ? Wha? its a normal adult fare so I dont understand the issue?? They had no arguement for why I could not transfer the ticket. They suggested I pay $16 to make the ticket an open ticket for a year. Well actually greyhound no thanks... I never take the bus and had to this time but ended up finding a ride. Next time I'll spend the extra $75 and take the via to avoid the headache. read more

We were planning to travel from New York to Toronto by air and have booked our tickets. I forgot my PR card and was denied entry to the airplane so we had to find another to come back. Eventually we were able to get greyhound bus tickets from New York port authority bus terminal. It was scheduled to leave at 7:30 pm. We were not able to board the bus till 11pm. Reason is they cannot find the bus driver! There are about 50 of us waiting and a few like myself were travelling with kids. Awful experience! When we were told the bus is gonna be delayed, they couldn't tell us when roughly will we be able to leave. We were debating whether we should just return the tickets and find a hotel first as it's really getting late and my daughter was not in good mood. Worst experience of my life, was on this bus for over 5 hrs when it was only a 2 hr drive. This company is super unorganized and unclear. My bus was also an hour late. When we FINALLY got to my stop we were stuck on the bus for another 15 minutes as the driver wouldn't let us off.. he also took a wrong exit and went down a side road, when we were already 1 30hr behind schedule. I used to commute between Toronto to Kitchener by greyhound, it was ok. on Aug 24,2019 we took this bus from toronto to niagara falls at 10:45am, we lined up at platform 5 for two and half hour, a lot of passage rs even longer, no any communications from the company about what happened, eventually there was an american side bus coming and picked up our bus 5712 people to leave two hours later than the scheduled when we should be in Niagara Falls, no wifi on the bus. I usually have no major problems with the greyhound. They have cheaper fares than Via Rail so I deal with the bad customer service and unreliable arrival times. However, my bus from London to Toronto yesterday failed to arrive even 4 hours after the stated departure time. They admitted to over booking and claimed that two buses were on their way from Toronto. This was false. Now I have to physically mail in my ticket with a written letter and wait SIX to EIGHT weeks for a refund. Absolutely ridiculous and never trusting this company to get me home ever again. Have been using greyhound for years because it was the cheapest way to commute from Toronto to London for school without a car. Worst experiences ever. The website is buggy most of the time. When trying to get an advanced fare ticket to new york one time it would only show me refundable fare is available and I need a ticket so i bought it. When I go back on the same website a couple of hours later, it shows that advanced fare is available. Very upset because I had to pay $194 compared to $154 I would normally pay. Oh did I mention that their REFUNDABLE fare is ONLY 80% REFUNDABLE AND YOU HAVE TO PAY CANCELLATION FEES? I had to return my tickets a few weeks before my trip because I couldn't travel that day and they only gave me back $128 saying there is a 20% charge and a $35 cancellation fee... ON A REFUNDABLE FARE! Other than that very slow, smells and constantly breaks down. If you have a choice TAKE A VIA RAIL TRAIN never take greyhound it will be the worst experience of your life. read more

Gave 1 star because I cannot give 0. I booked the Grey Hound bus Waterloo University to Toronto Pearson airport (trip was supposed to be Feb 15th 2019). Arrived 30 min early and waited until 1 hour after the scheduled arrival time (I stood in the Canadian cold for 1.5 hours) and the bus never showed up. The bus could not be tracked online or when I phoned in. Almost missed my flight and had to beg/pay a friend to drive me. When I contacted Grey Hound vía e-mail, no one responded. I thought to give them time to respond (it's been 5 months) but nothing. At least give me a refund Grey Hound!!!!! Terrible, stressful experience. Would NEVER recommend. read more

Stranded in Kaladar! We pre-bought a ticket for our son to travel back to Ottawa after camping in the Kaladar area. Standing on the side of the road at the scheduled time, bags in hand, we watched two Ottawa buses go straight by. Very Unfortunate Experience with Customer Service: My Sister in-law who is on a very limited and fixed income purchased a ticket for her son to take a one way ticket from Kitchener to Ottawa one way. She contacted Grey Hound 2 hours prior to the expected departure as she had not heard from her son and wanted to request to have the ticket modified to an open travel ticket. She would have been willing to pay the difference for this option if it was available. She was ultimately advised that nothing could be done and spoke with a call center agent who followed a very specific script noting that they had to speak with the passenger. The "Borg" on the other end of the phone could not understand that her son could not be contacted and that she was the one who paid for the ticket. She asked to speak to a Manager and was advised that she had reached the highest level of escalation. She lost the $139.00 which she paid. Great compassion and customer service Grey Hound! read more

The $2.50 "Terminal Fee" is ridiculous. This only exists at the Toronto terminal and no other. To avoid this fee, I tried buying my ticket online only to be met by a "booking fee". If you're sick of this mysterious nickel-and-diming then I may have a solution: Pay your fare directly to the bus driver. This should avoid having to pay any terminal or booking fees, but you'll need exact change. I don't know if this works but I'll be trying it next time I'm forced to take the Greyhound. read more

I was travelling from Edmonton, AB, to Prince George, BC. I went to the Edmonton counter, showed my online ticket, and the chinese guy at the counter issued a boarding pass, 30 minutes prior to the departure at 11pm. Sounds all good. Then I proceeded to the gate, and was waiting for the bus. After 15 minutes, the driver came through the door, and started boarding. Out of curiosity, I asked him, hey, is there a change of the bus? To my utter surprise, he said there is a mudslide on the highway, so it won't go after Jasper. Imagine what if I didn't ask the question and ended up at Jasper in the middle of the night, with no connection to Prince George. I went back to the counter, confronted the chinese guy and asked when did you learn about the mudslide. He said in the morning. So why didn't you call me or send me an email? I could have cancelled the bus, and bought a ticket in air canada. If I am missing the work the next day, it's more than what I would save travelling by bus. He rudely replied, we sale thousands of tickets, we don't care. Okay, so why do you ask for email/phone number, if you are never going to use it? Then I asked, if you knew the bus won't go the whole way, why did you issue me the boarding pass, just 15 minutes ago. The chinese guy yawned, and said I didn't read where you are going. No apology. Then I said I want to talk with your supervisor. Another guy came in, with a leaflet of greyhound customer service, saying you can complain as much at that number, but we are not going to bother with you any more. Amazing service greyhound!!! It's good that you got monopoly in this country. In any other place, people would have given you a slap and ended your business. read more

I would rate this a 0 star if I could. I just wrote this status on Facebook so I just copied and pasted: I don't usually take to Facebook for these sorts of things, but I figured I will this time to try and raise awareness for anybody traveling via Greyhound. I highly recommend you choose another service as Greyhound, in my opinion and experience, is the most unreliable service you could possibly choose. I booked a Greyhound bus for today, due to leave St. Catharines at 3:50pm. Just to be safe, I arrived at the terminal at 3:30pm, just in case it came early and wanted to leave early. But, obviously, if you have ever taken a Greyhound bus, it usually shows up late. At 4:20pm, when the bus still did not show up, I spoke with one of the employees at the terminal's help desk. They phoned Niagara Falls, which is the stop before St. Catharines, and found out that it had left their terminal at 4:15pm. I was told that it should be at the St. Catharines' terminal in roughly 15 minutes or so. I patiently waited until approximately 5:30pm before going back into the terminal to speak with one of the employees again. She called Greyhound directly and spoke with an employee who had absolutely no useful information. Instead, she was given a number, that was passed onto me, to call. I phoned the place about 6 times and had no success. It went to the machine every time. So, I called another Greyhound "help" number and spoke with a very nice, but useless, employee. He also could not figure out where my bus was and when I asked for a refund, he said that it was "not possible." Instead, he transferred me to yet another employee who "was better suited to help me in this situation." I waited for 5-10 minutes before somebody picked up. Once again, she couldn't figure out where the Greyhound bus was and that she wouldn't know for 24-48 hours because that was not her department. She informed me that a refund would NOT be guaranteed, but that I could try. So, she advised me to mail my ticket to their offices in Dallas, Texas, even though it was an e-ticket (apparently, as soon as you print out the ticket, it leaves their system). She could not help me with anything else, and at this point, I'm out about 20 bucks (plus however much it will cost to mail out my ticket) and three hours of my life.A All other buses are sold out for the day, except for a Canada Coach, which would be departing St. Catharines relatively late, and would likely arrive in Toronto for around 11:00pm) Now, my sister, mom, and dad are driving up to St. Catharines so we can be together for the weekend. My dad's Father's Day dinner is canceled and instead, he'll be driving to come and get me after a long day at work and an appointment. Thanks Greyhound, for making me feel emotions of not only anger and annoyance, but now, guilt as well. Thank you very much. Happy (early) Father's Day. read more

My friend who works for Greyhound Windsor sent me a package on June 1st 2019 and I only just got it June 12th 2019!! I tried tracking the package but it just kept saying the request to send the package was made on June 1st. I tried calling the number provided 1 877 643 6446 but they just had a recording saying there was no one to take my call. Finally my friend who works for Greyhound Windsor had to call the big guy in the Toronto Greyhound station and the next day I received a call from someone in the Toronto station to tell me my package had arrived and was ready for pick up and when I asked what happened they had no response. Worst service ever! I would not recommend or use there package or bus service again. read more

This was the worst trip I have ever had during my life. My trip was from Buffalo Airport to Toronto. The Greyhound bus was scheduled to pick up passengers (about 20 people) at 1:20 p.m. However, it never happened. We called customer service but nobody responded since it was Sunday. It was a hot summer day and we wait 2 hours until the next bus came. All passengers were very frustrated and some of them left the bus station to take another option. Another worst experience I had with Grayhound was getting refund. I cancelled a refundable ticket some days before the trip and they are still processing the payment after 45 days. I called several times and every time they told me there isn't any record !!! I would not recommend the Grayhound to anyone especially those who want to be on time in their destination. All in all, Grayhound sucks. read more
