I had the absolute worst experience riding with greyhound, and I will never again ride a bus thanks to them. First, I purchased my ticket as a straight bus from San Diego to San Jose, Ca., we stopped 4 different times, and on our third stop there was a 2hr delay, in Los Angeles. Second, they(Greyhound) did not tell us why we had stopped in Los Angeles for 2 hours, the reason changed three different times. The employees told us: 1. The bus needed to be cleaned, which was not(as soon as we got back on the bus there were literally paper towels on the floor in the first 3 rows and the whole bus still smelled like urine) 2. They were waiting for a new driver coming from Tijuana(like what does that even mean?) 3. They need to switch buses due to servicing. Third, the employee personnel collectively were the utmost rudest people I've ever had to deal with. Whoever was working on December 19 on this ticket confirmation deserves to be fired; BESIDES the drivers. The drivers were fine and the rides were the only thing decent about this trip. The employees that were in charge of overseeing the 2hr delay in Los Angeles were so rude that I will NEVER RIDE greyhound again!!!! I was yelled at to go to the back of the line, when I should get priority on the returning bus because I wasn't supposed to stop in LA to begin with. I was told by the same rude employee that "Greyhound will cancel my ticket and I would have to walk to San Jose if I don't go to the back of the line". Third, my ticket didn't work the second time they tried scanning it to get on the same bus that was delayed for 2hrs. It was the EXACT SAME BUS and my ticket did not work! Luckily the bus driver was nice enough to let me get on the bus, bless his soul. Forth, assigned seating goes out the window, I had 9D, window seat. I was not allowed to claim my assigned seat both times! Absolutely ridiculous, why have assigned seating in the first place! Makes me wonder, if I had paid for an extra seat next to me to avoid a seating partner if that would've happened... SCAM!!! Lastly, my bus ride was delayed 3 whole hours and I was late to work! My bus was scheduled to arrive in San Jose, Ca at 5:55am on Dec 20th, it did not arrive until 9am. Absolutely ridiculous! I WILL NEVER RIDE GREYHOUND AGAIN. read more

Not to be confused with Playhound (someone who never works) or Crayhound (the company with psycho bus drivers) (oh wait that is this one too). Located at 12th and Imperial is this transit station, which basically is the heart of all transit for the San Diego area. And we be talkin everything - from buses, both national and local, and trains and trolleys and you name it. The Greyhound station is basically next door at the Southeast corner of the huge terminal, which is pretty cool. It's right under the shadow of this beautiful city and its sexy skyline, and definitely one of the best Greyhound stations in California, despite being quite small, which honestly they all are. read more

If I can rate their service below one star I'd rate them negative five stars. They failed in all aspects of transportation for the community or for senior citizens with disability. They're lack of compassion they failedGreyhounds customer service they failed taking responsibility to deliver quality service they failed. their instructions for emergency situations to make sure their passengers safety was priority ,they failed miserably.!!! Greyhound bus is incompetent don't put your trust in them to get you where you need to go on time ,make sure you know you're going to be sleeping outside the station if and when you missed your connection and you have to wait next day for a bus to take you to your destination. Don't count on reimbursement when need to transfer to other modes of transportation they failed to deliver to connecting transportation such as Airports. After miserable and disappointing travel with Greyhound, I decided to finish my destination by going on Amtrak. I will never ride a Greyhound bus again ! advise anybody else that rides Greyhound you're risking your safety and don't put your trust in them they will not deliver they fail and all aspects of transportation for the public I don't know how they're still in business but they're a failing company that's struggling just to keep a bus runningl. Greyhound Bus #87072, July 13 San Diego to El Centro, with a transfer in San Bernardino. First timer... NEVER AGAIN! The driver was late to the San Diego pick up. We didn't leave until 30 minutes after we were supposed to. The driver took his time at every stop in between even though no passengers were getting on or off. He even picked up one random person off a random sidewalk--not a Greyhound stop--in exchange for cash. When I asked him if we would make it to San Bernardino in time, because I have a transfer, he threw his hands up and said, "Lady, I don't know what time we gonna get there. We got traffic!" He was so beyond unprofessional and wouldn't even hold himself accountable when I said aside from traffic--we were in traffic no more than 20 MINUTES!!--he was 30 minutes late!!! AND no one was even notified with an update; the app remained saying "on time" and even said we were in Perris when we had pulled over in Temecula. ZERO communication with the passengers and then it's just a "I don't know, you figure it out," response. Absolutely disgusting to just be okay with leaving people stranded!! I took the bus in hopes to see my son before not being able to see him for two weeks and this was the absolute worse way to go about it. Never again would I ride on Greyhound! I don't even want a travel credit. I called my bank to dispute the charge; at least they were way more helpful than this company. read more

I do not recommend greyhound. I booked two tickets for Oceanside to Los Angeles in November 2022 for $84. The bus was stuck in San Ysidro and was very late. At one point the greyhound bus showed over 4 hours late on the website and then website stopped updating. I couldn't wait any longer since I had plans in LA. Greyhound made me late for my appts. I asked for a refund and was denied. I disputed with my credit card company and grey hound said services were rendered so I could not get refund. Greyhound bus line is a SCAM. Worse customer service ever. I will never try greyhound ever again In my life. Im surprised greyhound is still in business with this terrible service and unreliable schedules. read more

Huge advice; please consider using another form of transportation. Our experience with them was very bad. In a nut shell our bus didn't show up and we had to wait 5 hours at the greyhound station for the next bus. Also the man that works at the station here in San Francisco California; his name is Don, he gets angry easy and argues with people. Don't use grey hound if you don't need to. One thing is your bus is delay and another is that bus didn't show. Not to mention the ticket price is very expensive... read more

Long Beach to San Diego My first experience using Greyhound and this is the 2nd half of my trip returning to Long Beach. This location is a bit more congested than the Long Beach station and far busier. The check in was fast, easy and the lady at the counter was friendly and very helpful. After checking in I was directed to go into the gated area to wait for the bus arrival. Once inside the gated area I see 3 different gates to incoming bus arrivals. I stood by gate 1 for awhile and as other buses arrive the area began to fill up so I ask one of the men tending to the buses which gate I should be at for the Long Beach bus. I was looked at and ignored. I just wanted to make sure i was at the right gate. I waited about 10 minutes, watching more buses arrive and more people began to gather. I ask again, "sir, can you please tell me which gate I should be at so I can board the bus as one of the first passengers, ivr been here for 40 minutes and still have no idea where I need to be" he looks at me and says "you will know when we announce the boarding. just listen for the boarding call". To me that was rude. I have a bad knee and was only asking so I could avoid the rush of people boarding and get a seat close to the window so I could stretch out my leg as to not be stuck on the isle. I shook my head in disbelief. Mind you my bus was due to depart on Monday, April 23 at 1:45. I had been at the station since 12:15 and with the exception of the friendly woman at check in the rest of the staff was rude. Anyhow, after asking the second time and being told to wait I was annoyed to say the least. The gate I was standing at was becoming very crowded. I wasnt comfortable leaving to use the restroom Simi waited. I then witness a Spanish family approach the same man and ask gate information, the man told them exactly where to go and stand. Then shortly there after another family of the same ethnicity ask which gate is going to Long Beach, not only does he tell then he motions for them to come to the gate where I am and positions them literally almost in front of me and even tells them the eatimated arrival time which happened to be about 15 minutes late. Before he walks away I get his attention and say, "so I'm going to assume by what I just over heard THIS is the gate for Long Beach, why couldnt you tell me that ive been here for over an hour" he looked at me spoke to me in Spanish (which I did not understand) I said I don't speak Spanish I speak english. I felt totally discriminated against. I only asked a simple question and was ignored but others were directed to their boarding gate. I finally got boarded and the bus departed at around 2:15. Come to find out the woman who sat next to me had the same experience. The guys working the gate would not answer her either and she was stuck at the back of the boarding area and was second to last person to board the bus. She felt discriminated against as well. The bus itself was fine, a littke worn out interior but all in all ok. My issue was the feeling of discrimination and rude behavior my the guys in the bright vest helping load and unload passengers. They seemed to help their own and forgot about us Caucasians. Not cool at all. Makes me hesitant to use the San Diego location again. I was planning on using Greyhound the end of May to return to San Diego but this experienc has left me weary and unsure. The 2 stars were earned by the young woman at the counter only. Please talk to the men loading passengers their behavior was rude amd made me feel unwelcome. read more

DON'T TRAVEL GREYHOUND IF THERE IS ANY OTHER OPTION AVAILABLE! I waited the obligatory 2 hours until 10pm for my 7:35pm bus to arrive. Then went home. Have tried 4 times to get my money back for my $200+ trip. 1) You should know, no refund is ever available, even though they failed to show up and provide the service paid for. You can only receive a 12 month voucher for future travel, per their fine print. 2) Calling customer service does not work. Have to fill out the refund request form online. No one at all you can speak to. 3) My third attempt, I was offered a 50% voucher, only good for 3 months. (I guess they feel I should have used my return ticket. How was I to return if I was unable to go to my destination to begin with because they never took me there? ‍) 4) They are ignoring my 4th attempt and request to have a customer service manager explain to me why the 12 month refund voucher I'm legally entitled to per their fine print is not being given to me. THEY ARE CLEARLY UNINTERESTED IN THE NEEDS, RIGHTS AND COMFORT OF THEIR CUSTOMERS. (Probably because the majority of their customers do not have lawyers and can't afford them.) PLEASE learn from my $200 loss (which is over 1/5 of my monthly income) and missing Christmas with my out-of-state elderly parents, so at least some good comes out of this ordeal. I booked for Delano, CA - San Diego with 1 transfer at LA. First leg of the trip was hassle-free. The second did not even happen. I am a vigilant traveler and I always track the schedule of my public commute if it's available online. Good thing I was tracking my trip otherwise I will be placed in a pickle. The bus from LA to SD was canceled without any text/call/email notification. No reason for the canceled trip posted at the greyhound app as well. I was able to made last minute travel changes 20mins before our bus arrived at LA. I don't want to imagine those people, especially the elderly ones, who have the same final destination as mine when they find out at the LA station that the trip has been canceled. This is really an archaic system for Greyhound. I will never use their services unless in dire emergency! read more

I understand passengers get annoying but I've never met a bus driver that would go out their way to pick on people until I rode with Greyhound. I was on leave from military for my birthday and wanted a peaceful ride but the drive was constantly bickering at people. The first thing he says to everyone was "If I hear any buzzing noise from your earphones I will pull over the bus till I feel comfortable"....okay? When we got to our first stop a gentleman was waiting for another bus and said that twice plainly and clearly. The driver rudely forced him to give him the ticket and said oh yea this isn't your bus. The guy waiting snatched it back and said "I told you." Driver got upset and said he will call the cops.... Okay? Last interaction in LA a gentleman came up and asked if he can use he bus ticket an hour early because he needed to get to Bakersfield asap. The driver stared at him for awhile before asking ".....why?" The gentleman said "I'm not trying to put my business out there" bus driver said "if you keep on with that gangster talk, ill call the police".....okay? Driver left the stop in LA pulled over to have a sandwich for his "mandatory break." He moves two rows down (because he has personal items of his in the front row) and sits right infront of me. There was a child maybe 5/6 that was listening to cartoons on his headphones across from us, the driver stops eating and says his music is too loud. I PROMISE you it was not.. it was slight chatter coming from the headphones. Once we were allowed to continue our journey after LA a few caucasian folk walked on the bus and his whole demeanor changed. "Yes Sir this, no Ma'am" was his answers to them. That's when I realized he was prejudice maybe racist towards people of color. This took place Dec1st on bus 60591. Why am I just now writing this? Because someone asked me my opinion on riding the Greyhound at work and I felt this was important to share with folks. read more

The employees are very unhappy and it shows, the vending machines only accept cash but not 20 and the atm only gives 20, the first bus ride was good but I wanted a refund on my ticket bc I couldn't make the time and they refused, if you want a place that gives refunds don't come here, I think that it was so unnecessary not to exchange or give me a refund like the bus we took was very empty and I bought separate tickets, make sure to not have anything come up and miss your bus like I did because they really don't care so plan ahead and don't expect anything great also buy snacks ahead of time read more

I've been to this location a few times in the past year. My initial thought was that it was scary because the station is just a covered seating area. There is a gate where there's only one security guard on duty. The bathrooms are at least inside a building. You have some interesting vending machines to get food from that are located in the back. The other two experiences were decent. Those manning the ticket booth are a bit zombie like, but considering they're the only one there, I can understand. I give this place 3 stars because I had a pretty decent experience with the security guard on my first visit and those helping to unload were pretty nice and helpful. The rest of the place is not where you'd like to be for very long though. Good luck to those needing to take the Greyhound. read more

I was on the greyhound bus, 09/16/2018 from San Diego to Long Beach, @6:00 pm. 9494. I arrived at the bus stop before 5:40 pm in order to check in my baggage. There were only 3-4 people before me but took so long to check in the baggage. Before I completed my check in baggage, the bus has arrived. I was very anxious that I might miss that bus.... However, very kind security person told me that he would inform the driver so that I would be able to get on the bus! And he did. I + other 3-4 people got on the bus no problem! Thank you so much for your help and I really appreciate it! Fare is cheap too. One minus star : Cockroach was at the bathroom the day I arrived here from Long Beach...... The Greyhound is pretty much the city bus except the seats are more comfortable and it goes further. Lots of strange characters, average Joe's trying to get a good deal, kind of sketchy but worth the price. A couple of observations: The guy at the bus station counter definitely said "ass" and "crazy ho" more than once during our five minute conversation while getting our luggage tags. You need to pay attention. The bus will stop in lots of different places (though not too many to the point that it makes your trip take TOO much longer), and if you get off it, you need to make sure you get back on. It will leave you if you're not careful. The security is incredibly minimal compared to the airport. Like I said, it's basically a city bus, but you bring luggage. The bus station was super sketchy at 5am, but they have big guys working in there that seem to be able to tackle someone if he/she were to get out of hand. However, the trip seemed safe, and everyone was generally harmless... just on his/her way to somewhere. I wouldn't want to be waiting in there by myself, but I wasn't concerned for my safety. The bus is cheap! I took it because I needed to go to Vegas for a last minute trip, and the plane tickets had tripled. For two people, it was eighty dollars total, and we could sleep on the way there. You can bring your own food, drinks, etc. In the end, I arrived inexpensively, safely, timely, and with a fair amount of comfort along the way. If you're okay with getting an "experience" on the way to wherever you're going, the Greyhound might be a good alternative. The San Diego Greyhound Bus Station is a sketchy piece of garbage, but don't let it scare you. You'll get a kick out of some of the crazies, and you'll make it to your destination. read more

Arriving to San Diego by bus? Welcome! You poor soul, you. The San Diego Greyhound station is located right in the heart of downtown San Diego- right at the intersection of broadway and first ave. The entrance/exit is on Broadway- so when you walk out onto the street- north is to your back, turn to your left and you're going east, turn to your right you see the ocean- that's right. You can pick up a taxi in front of the station, if for whatever reason no taxi is there, walk towards the ocean until you see the Wyndham tower- it's a green hotel/office building- on the far side of the building there is a taxi stand area that often has cabs, and bellmen who can help you. If you want a place to crash- the hotel Sofia just opened up in the same building as Greyhound, but you prolly can't afford it if you took the bus. The YMCA is down the street- but they just changed it into a boutiquey type place, so it's prolly a little bit more then a typical Y. There are one or two licensed Youth Hostels in the Gaslamp district- walk to your left down broadway, and hang a right when you get to fourth, fifth and sixth. You can also take the trolley (trolley stop down broadway towards the ocean- three blocks) to a variety of places, but not to the beach communities. read more

Horrible experience! I got a ticket to travel from LA to San Diego and it was supposed to leave at 9am then got delayed and we ended up leaving at 10:30! At first, I thought, COOL! Vegas roundtrip for only $50?!?! SO much better than $200+ gas money plus hurting my car.... Oh dear god, think again!! So I get on the first bus, and my mom was supposed to be on it coming from LA or somewhere, but due to poor greyhound everything, she was on a different bus instead...despite what the schedules said. Second...Have to get off the bus in San Bernardino ... try to get on connecting bus and NO! "this bus is now full, you have to wait for the next one... in 2 hours" .... What???? I didn't even know this could happen. So I'm stuck in a most dangerous part of San Bernardino in the hot sun for hours. Then back on the bus for hours and hours ... Maybe 9? I don't even know.....maybe more! Then on 4th of July ... Time to go back to CA in time to watch the FIREWORKS and so I get there like an hour early so nothing bad will happen, maybe even two hours early... they never called us for MY bus to line up or anything like they normally do but I guess all these people were greyhound regulars, so they were already in line.... by the time i figured this out, and the bus loaded, Me and the two people in front of me were told we had to wait for the next bus, which was like 2 hours later... but WAIT ... I accidentally had ended up with a special discounted casino fare ticket without asking for one, so I was going to have to wait for the bus that was not coming for like 5 hours!!! I was going to die! I decided to be brave and just get on the 2 hour bus anyway, even though I knew it had one transfer and I didn't have the right ticket for it... LUCKILY it worked... And I ended up getting to the beach 30 seconds before the fireworks started and feeling beat up and tired, after getting stuck in greyhound hell for over 12 hours, counting wait time. I've been on greyhound 2 other times and it was bad, but not THAT bad read more

So Thomas Jefferson mode of traveling to the Tijuana Airport is to leave from this station as Volaris Airlines has a 'hassle-free' shuttle... you get to leave from San Diego and they take you directly across the border to the TJ Airport no messing around with Taxi-cabs or anything and the cost is fairly cheap. Since Thomas' departure last October we have done this gig at least 4 times now and just 2 weeks ago I went down to meet him at the Airport (a first for me) I paid my $12.00 for the shuttle ticket, parked my car at the Sophia Hotel (I was staying over for the night after our tryst) and hopped on at 8:15am. The bus driver spoke NO English, NADA Ingles and there were only 3 other passengers beside myself for this over the border trip. So we get just about 50 yards away from the Border and the California Border patrol hops on the bus ask you questions about your trip - you show identification answer their questions and they allow you to proceed... next up you are at the ACTUAL Mexico Border and have to get off where your luggage is 'examined' by some Border person. Then you hop back on and you are now heading through Tijuana to the Airport. I was dropped off outside where I had to figure out where to meet Thomas at. All in all it was a relatively safe way to go... I have been to this station a number of times and the counter staff reminds me of people that are stuck with this mindless job and having to deal with people that are... (let me be kind here) interesting The last time I went (over 2 weeks ago) the counter person was named Stephany she was very nice and the Security Dude at the gate was name 'Christian" he was pleasant and friendly allowed me to come into the sitting/boarding area and actually wait beside Thomas Jefferson until his bus came. He was a darling and could see that we REALLY didn't want to say goodbye just yet. I hear that this location will be moving soon which bums me out as we have truly enjoyed the ease of staying at the Sofia Hotel and just coming downstairs to hop on the bus. What WILL we do now? BTW the bathrooms were clean... granted my bus left at 8:15am so there wasn't much action going on before I got there. Do arrive early if you can because these busses leave lickety split on time if not a tad early, purchase on line and the ticket is even cheaper! anddddd OH Yea... why is it that everyone at the bus station wants to talk to you?? hmmm Respectfully Reviewed read more

My first experience on Greyhound was pretty kewl. I felt a little ghetto at first, prior to boarding the bus. I guess it was because of the people who take the Greyhound are as colorful as I am. Although at times it feels a little unsafe, I've never had any problems at Greyhound bus stations. The craziest time I had was when I was in Sacramento at around 3am changing busses. I was there for a while and my buzz was wearing off. I went outside to burn one and damn, there were so many bums outsite there begging for change and cigarettes. I nearly threw up when I saw this crackhead crawling around in those little areas in the sidewalk where the city decides to put small trees or plants. Of course there was no plants there but there was this bum rolling around in the dirt, picking up old cigarette butts and eating them! WTF! And to top it all off, much of the area around the Sacramento Greyhound bus station smells like urine. Avoid this station if you can. The good side to Greyhound is they drive fast. Yeah, they stop way too often but they drive pretty fast on the freeways. read more

I wanted to make a review about this greyhound station. Everyone is nice and very helpful. I've been taking greyhound everytime I go to LA. Today, they're outstanding! They went over beyond my expectations. I bought a ticket and was greeted very politely with the staff. Also the lady at the gate checking the bags is doing her job very well when she saw a weed inside the bag of the customer she took it and throw it away and just explained to the customer about their policy. really good job on that! For the guys, I appreciate how they ask everyone where they're going to make sure they get on the right bus and also made sure your luggage are safe. One guy really caught my attention though, when he escorted the old lady to go to the restroom and waited for her to go out and helped her again to cross the street. What a gentleman! I used Greyhound Package Express on Monday, and I struggle to give this place even a "2" for service. Parking was horrendous, like 3 parking places. Location close for low-income travellers, but that was the ONLY consideration given by Greyhound. Service in the shipping dept. was poor, and the small package area was abyssmal. Waited 20 minutes while they processed another order of 20 packages, this was a NIGHTMARE. Site was undertrained and under-staffed. For bus travellers... Going to vegas we had also a 20 mins stop in a station with subway and others fast food. Arrived there 30 mins late but is ok. Coming back I didn't have issues of any kind about delays. I would say zero stars, but not an option. Valesquz 1728 at the San Diego downtown location early morning is zero help, She either doesn't listen or doesn't understand English.bShe will refuse to let customers use the restroom, scolds customers like children and tells them the routine she's use to. She is very problematic. I would love to see a more diversified staff instead of %100 Mexican. If I wanted to be treated like this I would have moved to Mexico. The business is going down the toilet literally the seats on the bus are filthy unckept, and smell like a thousand butts. One in 6 busses you take will get you stranded on the side of the freeway more than 6 hours and I take the greyhound or use to take more than twice a week. Greyhound is good in the fact that they have super cheap rates if you book ridiculously early. I booked a fare on 10/20/18 going from Santa Ana, CA to San Diego, CA via online. Upon receipt of the email confirmation, I noticed it showed from San Diego, CA to Santa Ana, CA. I immediately called the customer service rep for help. The customer service rep looked up my ticket confirmation and said that it was an error due to the system glitches. However, she would not be able to issue a refund or exchange of departure locations due to its policy. I asked to speak to a supervisor on duty but that person was never available. As a result, I filed a complaint with Better Business Bureau (BBB) and Department of Transportation (DOT) for assistance. I just want to share my experience to warn potential passengers think twice before selecting Greyhound bus line for your transportation. read more

One of the people who help load the bus violently grabbed my arm when I was accidentally walking towards the wrong bus, which they could have just simply told me to go the other way. The people who load the bus are truly the rudest of the staff and always have been. The people aren't welcoming at all and every time I come here someone always does something to make me feel dumb read more

I think this has to be one of the scariest places ever-- I remember now why it is commonly referred to as the "Dirty Dog", My boyfriend was working up in the Riverside area the day before we were planning on going to Coachella- so instead of driving back to pick me up I thought that I would be kind and find a way to go and meet him instead of him making an unnecessary trip. I bought by ticket online to find out that you have to show up an hour before your scheduled trip. I had a coworker drop me off at the front that was full of "bus patrons" smoking cigarettes and the first question out of her mouth was- "Are you sure you want me to drop you off here?". After waiting in line for about 30 minutes, I got to hear many conversations of people "taking the bus to Vegas to make some quick money on the tables and also a few taking the bus out of town to go "anywhere but here". Traveling alone, I was wondering how my trip was going to pan out. The bus was just nasty with about an inch of trash on the floor making me keep my feet up the while time, and my new bus partner was some euro kid that had his shoes secured by ripped plastic shopping bags, It seemed like the longest 2 hours of my life. I am all about public transportation, but don't think that I will be willing to take the dirty dog on my next trip! read more

This Greyhound bus station has moved to 1313 National Ave as of November 14th. It's about a mile and a half from its original spot. Both Google and Yelp are lax in updating their business info, which has caused a lot of problems for many people. You can see all the official locations on the Greyhound website. They moved because the building in which they were located didn't want to renew their lease. read more
