Arrived on time, but they had the doors locked. We were not let into the bus. Was given no refund or option for a later bus ticket. The return ticket had to then be cancelled, and I was given a credit. Overall, $30 credit for $200 worth of tickets and I had to find another way to my destination. I'm writing this review because all of these one-star negative reviews scared the hell out of me. DON'T WORRY TOO MUCH. I traveled from Ann Arbor to Detroit (4:45 AM - 6 AM) and then took the Flixbus from Detroit to London Ontario. The bus arrived at Ann Arbor about 20 minutes late. However, we arrived 15 minutes earlier than the expected time. So I am assuming Greyhound's "estimated time" is aware of these bit of delays. Flixbus arrived 15 minutes earlier. And I am writing this review while I'm on the bus. (Did not use that optional seat choice and am not regretting it. All seats are the same lol. On the first bus, I got assigned a seat, on the second one I did not.) CROSSING THE BOARDER: Fairly easy and quick. All of the passengers get off the bus together to go through the standard security. One thing to be aware of: They do go through your luggage (like they open and unzip everything and perform the "deep" searches). Plus the bus does go through the Nexus so it is fairly quick so that was nice. Overall, it's a lot better than I expected it to be. These one-star reviews, not quite too sure but be mindful that I might have been the LUCKY one or... the ones with good experience couldn't be bothered to write good reviews :) I hope this review helps you out :) safe travel. read more

I would give zero stars if able. I would warn anyone to avoid using the greyhound bus and it's affiliate flixbus. On the day of my departure an hour before my ride, I get an email that my reserved seat that I had paid extra for to reserve the two seats together was canceled and a new seat was not issued. I tried to rebook and it would not allow me to select a new seat. After searching for a customer service number to contact to try and resolve there website directs you to only submit a form online of your complaint. After my bus had come and gone. I get a reply saying they will not honor a refund to my account but only issue a voucher even though they cancelled on me. Avoid the hassle and save your money and use other means. read more

I rarely write a 1 star review, but my experience with Greyhound has been truly terrible. I've ridden twice departing from Ann Arbor; each time they seem to have overbooked the bus, requiring another bus to come pick up the remaining passengers (about 15 remaining). Of course, the driver has no idea when the next bus is coming, leaving most of the passengers stressed for the hour+ wait. The second time, the next bus never came - we were informed that we'd have to find some other way to get to our destination (protip: a one way car rental to Chicago split between 3 stranded passengers = lots of fun and slightly cheaper than my Greyhound ticket). Since the Greyhound station closed, the "waiting area" is a series of overpopulated and uncomfortable benches lining the road, with no shelter from the elements. Also, the ticket window is closed during the morning departure, so there is no onsite customer support. Attempting to call the Greyhound phone number listed on the ticket results in you getting directed to another number for customer service that you have to write down and dial yourself. Calling the number told me that they are not open during weekends. So... No help there. Le terrible. read more

There's a Greyhound terminal right downtown in Ann Arbor, and it's convenient if you're a college student and you want to hit the road, but you don't have a ton of cash for airplane tickets and pesky expenses like that. The Ann Arbor bus depot is one of the most spartan I've seen. Usually there are comfortable places to sit, and a cafeteria for people waiting to transfer to another bus. The lack of any of this probably has to do with the number of restaurants and splendid ways to kill time in the downtown area. Unlike Amtrack, Greyhound is a heck of a lot cheaper than flying. The downside is that it takes a lot longer to get where you're going, and you're cooped up in a bus. When I was 17 years old, I hopped a Greyhound to San Francisco and found out how big America is by seeing most of it while trapped in a narrow little seat on a bus, and in fact spent most of the trip next to very talkative old ladies. I also noticed that reading more than a few pages will make you carsick if you're in a moving vehicle. I don't do a lot off traveling by bus these days. But it's not too late for you, if you want to chuck it all and head for the coast. Last time I knew, you could get a ticket for anyplace in the U.S. for around $100. read more

For all would-be travelers, I'd sugest walking, it's more reliable. Our's is a simple situation; we paid for three bus tickets and waited for hours for a bus that never showed up. One thing I will give Greyhound is that they have a very bold customer service department, because after trying to get a refund for three days for a bus that didn't exsist, the representative had the audacity to tell us that the bus actually did show up. I salute these strides in invisible bus technology and hope to see this innovation continue, perhaps in the future they'll figure out how to transport their customers. My daughter who is a student at UMich purchased a bus ticket for 10/25/18 and it was scheduled to leave at 8:55am. When she made to the bus station to load the bus they informed her that the bus was full and her scheduled bus was canceled. Utilize greyhound only if DESPERATE! And even then, you're better off hitchhiking. Terrible customer service. TERRIBLE. Purchased two tickets online and had them printed out, in hand, but when it was time to board, were told the bus was full. Apparently, a previous bus had an issue and some of those passengers were given our seats. Greyhound didn't care to offer accommodations, such as another bus, or offer concessions for the grave inconvenience. There isn't even an agent on location to speak with. The bus driver isn't responsible for booking and such, so you have to call the customer service number and repeat your frustrations to a number of people who will not be any help. Also, their policy for refunds is that you have to mail in your tickets and a refund may be provided in 6-8 weeks, even if you purchased the tickets w a credit card. Just save yourself the trouble and find another way. read more

I should have read "Foo"'s review before I took the Greyhound recently because I had the exact same experience- I rushed to the bus stop early in the morning and was pleasantly surprised to have the bus arrive on time-ish (15 min late). However, I was not so pleased to then have the driver come off and tell the 25+ people waiting that they only had room for 10 people on the bus. I find it completely ridiculous, as a business practice, that they would overbook to that degree- I can understand a few seats here and there but all 25+ of us had prepaid tickets. Nevertheless, she assured us that a second bus would be on its way for us shortly. I asked her to call to get an ETA and she explicitly told us that the other driver had confirmed they would be leaving Detroit shortly and so would arrive in 30 min or so for us. While I was pretty annoyed at this point by the delay already, it did give us some hope that we had made contact and that someone would be on the way. But waiting outside in 20 degree weather (the stop itself has no covering and no seats) got increasingly frustrating, especially when the time stretched on and on with no bus and no one able to give us more up to date information on its ETA. Ended up being that that no bus arrived until around 10:50- 2 hours after our scheduled departure. We all felt pretty lied to at that point since clearly the whole "2nd bus coming in 30 min" conversation meant nothing. The icing on the cake was, when, after waiting 2 hours in the cold, some of the other people in front of me tried to board the bus, the driver would not let one of the girls board because her name on her ticket didn't exactly match her ID- it was a nickname- something like "Katie" rather than "Katherine"- but they have such a hardline stance that he wouldn't budge and was pretty rude about it, as well. So definitely a word of caution if you do end up taking Greyhound- nicknames are a no-no. To be honest, once I got on the bus, my experience was pretty smooth. I had extra space which was nice and the drive was pretty uneventful. But the whole period prior left a really bad taste in my mouth- so giving 1 star for the poor overall customer experience and crappy business practices when it comes to overbooking and not having a good backup plan for all the customers you strand when this happens. read more

Worst customer experience ever. I will never give a penny to Greyhound again. I waited at night, standing on the sidewalk outside a parking garage in freezing temperatures (there is no station just a Greyhound sign on the street), for a bus to Chicago that never came. I had booked the trip weeks in advance. While waiting I was given incorrect information over the phone by at least three operators and a manager (first, after it was already 20 minutes late: "it will be there in 30 minutes". Then, 40 minutes later: "it will be there in an hour and a half". Finally: "I don't know where the bus is"). Not to mention it took me a long time to even get a real human on the phone every time I called and was told to dial several different regional offices, some of which never answered the phone at all. When my cell phone turned off from being too cold to work anymore (during my final call to Greyhound), I just gave up, found a nearby public library to warm up in briefly, and took a cab to Detroit airport and flew to Chicago, at great expense. I had to be in Chicago that night for an interview in the morning and didn't have another option. Little did I know, this was not a one-off. I've never has service so bad I thought to write a review. I've only ever written reviews for positive experiences, but there is a first time for everything right? Typically I just call the company if the experience is bad just to let them know, the usual. However this particular station was so terrible in both staff and location that when I villains to the company representative I was compelling ignored and instead charged a fee for another ticket. The long story short: I arrived 15 minutes before my bus was supposed to leave. When a bus came at 11:30am I went to board and was told that this bus was not my bus and that I was taking the 12:05 bus, contrary to my ticket. I listened to the driver, believing that since he worked for the company he knew what he was doing. As fate would have it my bus was indeed that 11:30 bus. I only discovered this when I inquired what time the 12:05 bus was getting in from the station attendant. After waiting for about 5 minutes fit her to finish a phone call, I was told my bus left and that it was my fault, but for a fee of $20 she could correct my mistake. I didn't have cash and the station only took cash, plus I tried to pitch to her that the driver of my intended bus miscommunicated, but she wouldn't have it. I had to find an atm and pay for the ticket switch. The driver was overly sassy when she had shown up, considering she arrived at 2pm when the departure was 12:05. Overall, the majority of the customers were treated very poorly. As it turns out, the ticket woman in duty sold a man the wrong ticket. He asked for the soonest avaliable bus to Detroit; the bus I was going on. She sold him a ticket well before noon (I witnessed and can attest to this) for the soonest bus, which in her mind was 4pm. The man tried to board the bus and was told he'd have to pay a $20 fee to change how schedule even though, like me, it was no error of his own. He didn't have enough money (sadly neither did I so I couldn't help) so he was forced to wait in the station until 4pm. That wouldn't have been terrible if the "station" wasn't the side of the rode. There are no benches and no protection from the elements. I had to wait for well over 3 hours in the cold for my bus to come along with paying a fee to do so. This has to be the worst experience in customer service I've ever had. Traveling is stressful enough, why make it harder? read more

Inconsistent Service! Had a recent trip from Ann Arbor to Toronto with a bus change in Detroit in between. Came to the bus station to learn bus from Ann Arbor to Detroit was 2+ hours late. Would have missed my connecting bus and there was no support from Greyhound at all. This was at 11:30 PM at night. Almost got scammed by the bus driver offering my friend and I to ride for twenty dollars; turns out he wanted to pocket our money

I'm not quite sure where all these negative reviews are coming from because so far I'm having a great experience. I've been a loyal customer of megabus until I just had enough of their late busses,broken wifi, rude customer service, and now high priced/limited bus departures. Greyhound offers more departure options and this allows me to conveniently plan my mini trips around my busy schedule. Not only is the larger selection of time a plus, but it is also cheaper than megabus. I wish I would have looked into greyhound more instead of only checking the megabus site as my mode of transportation. I am a first time rider today (to Chicago) and i will be continuing to use greyhound! read more

I wish had looked at all the negative reviews. I don't ever write reviews but I have to share: they're all on point. First, finding the actual bus stop in Ann Arbor is confusing. The one listed here is not even correct and it shares a station with Amtrak. Nobody was even around to answer any questions. Second, do not buy anything but the base fare unless you might need to change your time. We bought the fare for priority boarding and it was not even utilized in Ann Arbor or Chicago! Third, none of the "amenities" actually work. The wifi does not work at all and half of the power outlets also did not work. Fourth, and perhaps this is a little out of scope, but the experience was even worse in Chicago! One staff member literally grunted at us when we asked about the boarding gate. We didn't know we had to check our bags (it says so on the ticket but in Ann Arbor there was no bag checking whatsoever). We also had to wait in line twice before boarding: once to find out the boarding location, and once to check our bags (wish the lady had noticed our unchecked luggage when we were talking to her the first time). We got there early, and through all of the inconveniences, we ended up boarding last, even though we had "priority boarding" passes. Long story short: avoid at all costs, unless you are very desperately strapped for cash. I wish I had looked at the reviews, I would have done anything else. I have taken the Megabus and Amtrak before and had a decent experience with both. read more

I missed my bus and had to spend an extra night in the city because the driver would not stop at Greyhound's new stop in Ann Arbor. I had a ticket booked for a bus from Ann Arbor to Toronto on July 11th. Upon arriving to their station, it turned out to be boarded up and a small official sign on the fence said "Greyhound Ann Arbor has moved", with a map indicating how to get to the new location from the defunct one - a couple of blocks away. Seems reasonable enough, so I followed suit and went to the new station. Unfortunately, the bus driver had a different idea, and instead of arriving in the new location - advertised by Greyhound itself - chose to stop at the closed station instead, causing me to miss the bus and look for accommodation for an extra night in Ann Arbor in the middle of the night. Despite not personally seeing the bus driver pulling over in the old station, I know this was the way things transpired because with me at the new station was a couple waiting to pick up someone who was getting off of the same bus, and he called them from the old station to say that he was dropped off there and that the bus driver refused to go to the new stop despite his pleads (after getting off the bus he saw the sign and advised the driver), with the driver responding that he'd "never heard of this and does not care". By the way, independently of pulling up to the wrong station, the bus was one hour and 30 minutes late. So this whole thing had happened at around 1am. Bottom line - I missed my night bus to Toronto because of an apathetic / uninformed Greyhound bus driver and a company that is being run in a way that ends up with them sending passengers to wait for a bus in one place in Ann Arbor and have the bus driver stop someplace else, without any notice. Thanks for screwing up my night and my ride, Greyhound. Never travelling with you in the US again. read more

I would never use this method of transportation unless you have no other options and would not be concerned if you were left for 3+ hours in an empty bus station in a tough part of town and don't mind no communication from the company you bought your ticket from and like calling emergency numbers in India and the Philippines. My 21 year old daughter bought a ticket from Grand Rapids to Ann Arbor. After the purchase the itinerary was changed to include a layover and transfer to a new bus in Kalamazoo. The problem is that the other bus never came and no one at the station informed her or any of the other passengers about the status. The station closed and the waiting passengers were left outside to wait. After 3 + hours they called another open Greyhound station in Detroit to be told that bus had been cancelled. The 800 emergency number transfers your call to overseas operators who while polite are difficult to understand and have no idea what is going on. The app that is supposed to identify where your bus is does not work. Terrible!!! The reviews I have read overwhelmingly agree with the poor service . You couldn't pay me to travel with greyhound again. Absolutely terrible. I waited for over an hour on some sketchy downtown corner in the freezing cold. Called greyhound customer service. They were rude, dismissive, and completely unhelpful. Once the bus finally arrived there were no seats left, despite the fact that I had RESERVED a seat far in advance. I had to stand on this tiny bus aisle with other angry customers for hours while we drove down the highway. One other customer sat on the toilet the whole ride because there were no other options. Called greyhound again for a refund and they were very unhelpful. THIS COMPANY IS A JOKE. Huge rip off, totally unreliable, and has major safety concerns. Greyhound charged me for an incomplete transaction twice when I was attempting to buy these tickets on the website on July 9th. My credit card has been charged for two tickets, when all I was attempting to do is purchase one ticket, and I have not been issued any tickets at all. I have been trying to get someone on the phone to speak with, only to be placed on hold for over an hour and transferring me from department to department. I'm tired of this. Just refund me the charges so that I can buy another ticket and get on with my life. read more

The bus was estimated to arrive at 9am. It didn't come, it didn't come, the greyhound tracker showed that it was still not even in Detroit. The employee kept telling us (based on the tracker) that it would be here in 1/2 hour, in 1/2 hour, in 1/2 hour. Then the bus checked in in Kalamazoo. In short, the driver NEVER STOPPED in Ann Arbor. 4 people were left waiting at the stop on a sub 10 degree day for two hours and 15 minutes before we were told it had long passed our location. So, don't believe what the tracker says, and don't believe what the employee tells you either. read more

Thank you Greyhound for ruining my weekend. My son was supposed to take the bus from Ann Arbor to Kalamazoo (I'm traveling from up north) to meet me to travel to Indiana for the football game. The bus station was closed when he arrived an hour before his bus to get his PREPAID ticket. He called Greyhound who informed him that would be no problem as long as he had a ticket number. Once the bus arrived AN HOUR and A HALF late --- he was not allowed to board. Our hotel room for tonight was paid as were the tickets for tomorrows game. Now because Greyhound lacks the common sense or decency he is stranded....Customer service apparently is of little concern to Greyhound. read more

So I ordered a ticket for my girlfriends son (we used her credit card) with us being in Michigan and him trying to get to Michigan from FT Pierce Florida. He was to pick up his ticket from FT Pierce Bus station, 7150 Okeechobee Rd FT Pierce, FL 34945 (as verified by 3 separate Greyhound customer service representatives). We purchased with the "Will Call" option where he would pick up his ticket from the bus station. He got there at 5pm, bus would be leaving at 6:25pm, and went to get his ticket. They didn't know what he was talking about when he was trying to get his ticket, he saw a greyhound bus pull up (given time frame it was not his bus, but still he thought that the greyhound driver would know what to do). He asked the driver if he was at the right spot to get his ticket and get on his bus and the driver was rude and refused to answer his questions. Now he is STRANDED in Ft Pierce Florida, unable to acquire his ticket, the bus he was to be on already gone and we are out $180+. I called customer service to try and resolve the issue (Prior to his bus coming and going) and they refused to even speak to me on the fact that my name was not on the credit card used for purchase, and i wasn't the passenger. I understand that being somewhat of an issue, but seeings how i set everything up, and can answer everything that i did (even password for him). This needs to be resolved, he is out of money, and we CAN NOT WAIT 7-14 days for a god damn customer assistance form to go through. I would also like to talk to someone i CAN understand from AMERICA for customer assistance as well.
