WOW! Its been a while since I have bought bread this good before. We stumbled across this real…read morebakery when we were on the search for the cheese shop and it is right next door. We spoke to the baker and he told us it was all part of the same business, the bakers and the cheese shop and the bakery had outgrown the building and was soon to be moving a mile or two up the road. Anyhow, we walked through the front door and were amazed at the wonderful display of freshly baked breads available to buy. From super open textured, crunchy baguettes to heavy sourdough and super soft farmhouse loaves, stilton and walnut bread, oily foccaccia and on and on. There was also a small selection of sweets such as really nutty brownies, pain au chocolat and danish. Everything looked so good, it took us forever to narrow down our choices. We ended up buying four loaves of bread and two cakes. All were beautiful and very tasty which is a big lack in most of today's crappy supermarket breads which people have become accustomed. My favourite was the baguette, it really was out of this world. The breads were a little pricey but WELL worth it. And the place is definetly worth a visit!

The thing is I have a weakness for vanilla slices, you know the ones with pastry and custard in the middle like a sandwich? Well they are my obsession. It is pretty bad. So whenever I have a craving which is basically every weekend, I have to go here and get me a vanilla slice. But then I come out with a box of different cakes as well as my slice and a sandwich possibly a pie and a drink! A whole meal deal. Let me tell you another thing about this place. It is so cheap. When I went the other weekend, it was a case of cakes, pies for two and it came to £3.00. For me that is seriously cheap, when I have Mr Greedy to cater for. Everything here is homemade from the bread to the pastry. I love this place so much it is that popular they have two shops. I would prepare for a wait though, or even get there early as it is ALWAYS busy.

It was a Sunday morning, and I could only get there long after opening due to my transport arrangements so I was worried ... but thankfully I was easily able to get a table to sit down and eat .. I'm lucky most of the people of Manchester don't wake up early on a Sunday. So it was a little quiet but inside was almost full when I got there ... which was nice. It was a decent day and I was kinda close to the window so could see the marina and all the people exercising and walking their dogs and it's with sitting and just chill. So with sitting and eating, I wanted to get something good. it always looked amazing when I was waiting for my drink to take out, but I'm always one to have eggs Benedict whenever I can, so I figured I might as well try theirs ... and it did not disappoint. It came with ham hock, 2 eggs, brown butter, hollandaise, and crispy kale on their own sourdough. Im not usually one to have kale ... but they made it amazing. I finished every last bit and wanted more ... it was hands down, one of the best eggs Benedict I have ever had. To accompany the eggs benny, I also went for a coffee, as you do, and an orange juice, which was so nice. Hands down will always recommend people to go to pollen, if not for their sourdough and coffee and pastries to go, but also to sit and eat. Love this place

This place is a little family run bakery, which is obviously very popular, and is just a little way off the centre (as it were) of Pudsey. It's not difficult to see why they are so coveted, as soon as you go in you are greeted by a super friendly team (I assumed a husband and wife team, but can't be 100% sure) ready to help you. I went in to browse and found myself instantly attracted to their lovely looking home-made preserves sets. The gentleman asked me if I was ok, which I was, and then apologised for having to turn on his mixer for a moment! It was lovely, and really wasn't a problem. As I had wandered in around 3pm ish the shelves were looking rather bare - the sign of a great bakers - and so I wandered to the glass counter at the front. I didn't want to walk out without something tasty. In the end I settled for a beautiful heart shaped chocolate brownie, complete with raspberry in the centre, for my boyfriend. It was going to be Valentine's day after all! I'm told that it was delicious, so I'm glad I made that choice. I bought a set of six mini breakfast jams as well, for a friend, and they were totally bargainous. I won't say exactly how bargainous, lest she discover how much I spent, though with any luck it'll be the gesture that counts! All in all this is a delightful place to purchase breads, jams, cakes and any other home made goodies. Just get in early to avoid disappointment!

From the moment we walked in and saw the fabulous photography on the wall to the minute we left with £15 worth of cakes I was a happy bunny. We over indulged in the white ganache tarts, caramel death by chocolate, a selection of chunky chocolate topped chocolate muffins, and a shortbread heart amongst some others. For my particular taste the ganache was slightly too runny, but i had a spoon so it was all good. The chunky chocolate topped muffins were varied from chunks of toblerone, crunchies, white choc etc. and were very tasty and moist, like proper chocolate cake should be, The shortbread was super - perfectly baked with a good amount of jam sandwiched in the middle. There wasn't much bread left on sale but it was about 3pm so we decided to go to the Barbakan.....

The store has a drive-thru, but you can still walk in and place your order which is handy if you fancy a takeout drink during the UK's ongoing lockdown. They don't accept mobile orders which is a shame, as it was recently expanded to include many more stores including some franchises, so it's a shame this one missed out. It is a franchise store, so prices are a little higher than normal, my drink ended up costing £0.15 more than at a corporate owned store, although compared to other franchises it did cost more again. I ordered a Venti iced Gingerbread Latte, I was just happy to get one seeing as though the majority stores have moved on from the festive red cups, my drink was good and I was pleased they were accepting reusable cups, considering many stores have ditched accepting them again following the UK's third national lockdown. The staff seemed really friendly and happy to help, the interior was also really nice, so it could be a nice place to sit inside with a drink when government legislation allows, there is also limited outdoor seating on a rare nice day, I wouldn't particularly want to sit there as it is part of an Esso/EG Petrol Station, but they have tried to make it as nice as they can. 4* - Overpriced for sure and I was just relieved to have an earned reward so I didn't have to pay the full £4.60 for my drink, but I was happy with my overall experience, the store is nice, the drinks are nice and the service was good too.

Anyway, it tasted quite good but maybe just because I had craving for it because I had one couple days after and it was very average. So if I did go back, I would probably order something else.
