A range of fresh sandwiches and pastries and baked goods. Very convenient for a lot of shop assistants, as it's central. It always seems busy. Trouble is it often takes longer to be able to pay than to choose your purchase! Jolly useful. read more

My vote here focussed on their cannoli. The cannoli sit on their counter tops in lidded glass jars…read more Cannoli, I just can't say the word without thinking of the Godfather: the way the murder, the horror, the bloodshed, rub up against the warm domestic scenes of Italian family life, homicide and hearth that made the movie so unsettling, putting guns and cannoli within six words of each other nailed it. Sicilian cannoli meaning little tube - a deep fried pastry - around for a thousand years and possibly of Arab heritage - at this time, the Arabs influenced Sicilian baking with the introduction of cinnamon, candied fruits and pistachios. They also introduced the technique of combining nuts and fruits with sugar and honey. So I took a few of each - lemon, chocolate and boy oh boy salted caramel. These are first class products so very tasty with the salted caramel being gloriously great. We also scooped up a few plump meringues one strawberry swirled the other lemon for a sugar hit. Mmnn. The staff are delightful and the goods are put into paper bags not plastic. Other purveyors take note. Four green stars.
This is located next to the level crossing in Poole High St…read more I think it must do extra well when the crossing is closed! They sell, and specialise in, baked pastry produce. Most obviously the Cornish Pasty is advertised, and all sorts of other savoury pastries. In addition they do sandwiches and baguettes. It does seem to be always busy, particularly with youths - I guess this kind of food is filling. It's not a particular favourite of mine at all, but what they do, they do well.

They sell coffee too
The salted caramel cannoli is exquisite

There are always customers in here! gosh, there's a branch near a friend of mine, and I dive in without hesitation. Friendly service, and at the end of the day they drop their prices!
Generally great produce but atrocious service…read more At the Broadstone branch I bought a sausage roll and politely asked for a napkin before I left. The response from the lady behind the counter was "this is not a café" I could forgive this if it were an isolated incident, however the Ashley Cross outlet forgot half my order and didn't seem bothered at all. Yesterday I visited the Poole High Street outlet. Toward the end of the day several items are placed in the window display on special offer "everything for 50p", this is a great idea to clear unwanted stock however once again blighted by poor execution. I asked one of the staff what kind of bread was in the window (its worth noting they bake some unusual bread so not an unreasonable question). The female staff member looked at me as though I'd spat on the floor and barked "it's a baguette". Absolutely shocking behaviour, only saved by the quality of their produce. I know a local sandwich shop owner who won't use anything other than fresh Bennetts rolls and quite rightly so, but I'm shocked by the consistently poor approach to customer engagement across multiple outlets.
Mmmmmmmm. Found Lardy cake this morning!!…read more Lardy cake was one of the things that made moving from Germany tolerable. It's sticky, and filling, and yummy yummy.
