I don't mind Greggs (I'm partial to a cheese & onion pastie and a doughnut) and I almost understand why there are so many in town, literally walking distance from each other. I guess if there is demand it make sense...right? And maybe there is demand in Rutherglen. Yet why there are two on the Main Street within walking distance from each other I still don't quite understand. I've tried both of them several times (ha, maybe everyone does that) and thought it was time to write my reviews:
This particular Greggs is down beside the Mecca Rutherglen so if you near this end of the Main Street (the other one is on Main Street and can also be accessed via the shopping centre), this particular Greggs is more convenient and accessible. They don't have a sit in area but the offer the usual range of sandwiches, cakes, crisps, hot items and beverages as you expect from any Greggs. There's also a small display area with packs of doughnuts, yums yums, rolls etc to choose from.
Always clean and the staff are nice enough. There's never much of a queue and maybe that's because there are two Greggs so close together - I've no idea. Anyway, if I fancy a sandwich or one of their pasties, I pop in. I don't go out my way to go Greggs but sometimes when you're hangry only a cheese and onion pastie will do... read more
