Maddison's in Long Lane is okay but I've been in better bakeries. I went there for lunch fairly…read moreearly one day and the choice of rolls and sandwiches were not brilliant. The staff said that they had run out of food which was sup rising given the time of day. The food didn't seem like good value either, £1.50-ish for a cheese roll, not even a big roll but one which was no bigger than your average sandwich roll. You can sit in and eat which is something I like but didn't take advantage of as I didn't end up buying anything but it is worth keeping in mind if you're in the area and want to meet a friend for lunch or a catch up cuppa. Parking is available opposite the store in the street making it easy to access.
Great little cozy neighborhood Bakery along Long Lane…read more I am partial for any family neighborhood bakery, and Maddison's Bakery keeps the tradition going. If you want to grab on the go, or even sit down this is the place to get your necessary baked goods.

Unlike most bakeries there is an option to sit and eat in. It's quite a charming and intimate place to have lunch, ideal for conversation and a catch up. Their meal deal makes The Bakery affordable, around £4.20 for a baguette, cake and a hot drink which is tastier, cheaper and more filling than most other High Street delis. It's close to Bexleyheath station and so is great for grabbing food on the way to and from work. There is are a few parking spaces in the street next to the shop.
The Bakery on Pickford Lane is a great place for any baked goods you can imagine…read more The Staff are very friendly and experienced and will get you served as quick as they can. I would go to the Bakery any day of the week over all the high street chain "fake" bakeries that lay around town. Their bread is so fresh and tasty, and i am a sucker for their farmhouse loaf. Their fresh cream cakes are to die for, as well as the remaining of the cakes they have to offer. Also, warm cups of tea and coffee can be found here. The Bakery is a prime example of why traditional family bakeries are better than chain bakeries and a reason you should continue getting your fresh bread from here.

It is popular with workers from local businesses and kids from Erith school over the road and as a result, this means that there might not be much food left later in the afternoon. It's not too pricey and provides value for money. It is worth popping into if you're in the area and fancy treating yourself. Sadly there is not room to sit down inside and so you'll have to make use of the benches on the street or take your goods home for lunch. It is not worth driving too as the road is congested and parking is not available outside. The only place where there is space to park is the pay and display in Mill Road which isn't worth paying for if you're only visiting the bakery.

Every high street needs an independent bakery, or at least a chain bakery if nothing else. Until…read morerecently, Barnehurst had neither. Having received a flyer though my letterbox, I decided to give them a try one Saturday afternoon, only to find they were closed. It turned out they open early in the morning (like all real bakeries do), and also shut early in the afternoon, so I returned the next weekend to sample some of their fresh bread and cakes. It was all of excellent quality, and the service was friendly. I noticed they also had some seating in the shop, and a coffee menu, so presumably it's got more of a cafe vibe in the mornings. If only I could wake up earlier in the morning, I could buy fresh bread each day. For now, an occasional cake will have to suffice.
