Dr. Carb has helped me tremendously with soreness in my neck and shoulders. He has recommended several exercises and stretches for me to do before I sleep and when I'm at work. Just going into his office won't do much unless you follow his instructions to do the stretches he tells you to do. I highly recommend his expertise. On the first visit, I brought a friend with me who he let take pictures of my posture. I will upload some before and afters later ! read more

I've been in excruciating pain for the last 10 years after a maladjustment by Dr. Gregg C. in July 2011. I followed up with him a day later and he refused to acknowledge the pain I was in and if something was wrong. I've spent hundreds of thousands in recovering over the last 10 years not to speak of the amount of time spent in bed in pain, along with lost time at work, with friends and family. I've finally gathered the courage to write this online. Please be careful getting adjustments here. read more

I rarely write reviews, but Dr. Carb is truly the best Chiropractor I've ever been to! Each time I've left Dr. Carb's office, I feel so much better physically AND mentally. The office, his approach, and his demeanor are all so calming. He really takes the time to listen, explain my injuries, and give me fixes which is rare to find in any health care professional. When I find one like that, I always try to hold on to them! My previous chiropractors have never taken the time to talk or explain things I could do better to help my pain and injuries, they would just crack my back. Super happy he's contracted with my insurance (UHC) and that I found him through their website. The office manager (Julia) is also really great and understanding. I had to unfortunately reschedule an appointment late due to sickness, and she's really easy to communicate with. She even texts which is nice so I don't have to do phone tag. read more

Dr Gregg Carb of the Chiropractic Spine & Hand Therapy Center is a fantastic chiropractor, and one of the most caring health providers anywhere. He is NOT your typical "crack and pop" chiro guy, he's a real healer and "health enthusiast." He's great for those who work hard and play hard, and need some help in keeping their fitness bar high. Gregg is also great for anyone who had a serious disabling injury. He is warm and compassionate, and has a great attitude toward life. A really wonderful healing spirit. I have a lower limb amputation and my gait is badly deviated, and I sit way too much to avoid pain. Someone with a bad foot or knee could have similar back problems. The strain of uneven ambulation travels up my spine, Dr Carb helps greatly to counteract the stress. One of my last treatments I remarked "I feel light and strait as if I'm being pulled up" when I stood. Simply amazing results. He employs many techniques, but my favorite is ART. Active Release Technique is a rigorous set of protocols developed by Dr Leahy that specifically treat sports injuries. Most physical therapists and chiropractors use some form of these techniques, but ART has been highly studied and developed to ensure patients get fully restorative and safe treatments. It's essentially the use of pressure points and movement or manipulation of the injured area, but its far more complex then just that. It can even be used to ease nerve pain in cases of sciatica, or in my case severed nerves. Nerve pain often has me to do with surrounding tissue then actual never damage. Dr Carb has been doing ART for many years. He uses light therapy and has the newest technology He has been doing chiropractic care for decades, Gregg is old school meets new school. Experience and cutting edge modalities and methods. I first came to him because I'm a worker compensation patient, and he's highly regarded and respected as a top notch provider for them. He is state approved as an examiner for spine injuries. My chief orthopedic surgeon from UCSF warned me not to go to just any chiro, to find someone with a great skill set, more like a physical therapist. He said "get someone who can teach you" and Dr Carb is a great teacher. The location is great if you work in downtown San Francisco, he's in the financial district. Close to BART and directly next to the Mandrain Hotel and 345 California building. 220 Sansome @ Pine St. www.posturepress.com Watch the video "Age is only a number" Carb can work all day and still do that?! Go get it Gregg ! (And give it to us, lol) read more

Dr. Carb is awesome, the office is small and conveniently located for access via BART or Muni in downtown SF. I've had some back issues and Joyce has always been so responsive getting me scheduled as soon as possible. I always leave feeling so much better than when I arrived. He has good advice on stretches and exercise movements that can help alleviate back issues. read more

Dr. Carb is fantastic, combining strong chiropractic skills with ART. This is a powerful combination. He is good at assessing issues, treating them, and providing tips for home/work exercises and better practices. read more

Dr. Gregg is by far the best chiropractor I've seen thus far and I've undergone chiropractic treatment for the last ten years. Out of all my chiropractors, Dr. Gregg is the only one who not only treats spinal disease symptoms, but also teaches physical therapy techniques to mitigate/alleviate/reverse the diseases themselves. Adjustments are great and reduce pain/discomfort in the moment, but it's the physical therapy that improves the prognosis truly helps patients get better. Thanks, Dr. Gregg! Also, Dr. Gregg's staff is awesome - personable, responsive, and doesn't mind scheduling via text! read more

Dr. Carb!! I love him. I had been having neck pains that gradually got worse with sitting in front of a computer 10 hours a day along with riding BART 2 hours round trip everyday. After visiting Dr. Carb, my neck and back are pain free and with the recommendations he gave, the pain has yet to come back. You hear so many bad stories of how chiropractors end up doing more damage than healing, so I needed a good recommendation. When a chiropractor friend who practices the same A.R.T. (Active Release Therapy) as Dr. Carb recommended me to him, I felt more at ease. A.R.T. is awesome. It's like getting a mini massage and cracking of the neck in one visit. AMAZING!! Dr. Carb's office is in downtown SF, so it was very easily accessible for those working in the area. It's his own private practice so the service you get is very pleasant. ***After my first visit Dr. Carb called me personally to see how I was feeling.*** (WOW!!) I saw him and had work done on my neck and back a good dozen times. Each time, I walked out feeling so much better than when I walked in. Now that I don't work in the City, I can't visit much, but I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a chiropractor in the area. read more

Been seeing Dr. Carb for many years now. He's the only one who fixed me up after two car accidents, years of ergonomic injury and lots of rugby crashes. He's the only one who insisted on an MRI for the horrible pain I had in my neck that left me walking around like Frankenstein. The horror of the neck crack is relieved by the "relaxation station" as I call it...the rolling bed you get to lie for ten minutes after treatment. Ahhh...heaven.... Go see Dr. Carb if you insurance covers it, and if it doesn't see him anyway 'cause his cash rates are very affordable! read more

What a beyond great experience this visit was for me. My 1st to ever see a chiropractor in the 45 years of my life. Everything was not to my expectations. It was more. All the pin points to where my ongoing agonizing pain was hit spot on. I felt like my back was on cloud 12. Thank you so much and for giving me an insight on what to do thats best for me. read more

I am now an IRONMAN thanks to Dr. Carb! With 10 days left before my first full Ironman, the "Full Vineman" up in Sonoma County (July 28th, 2012), I started experiencing sharp pain in my right calf with every step I took trying to run. Pain was still quite bad the Monday before the Saturday race. I was in San Francisco on business that day, looked for an ART certified therapist as I've heard such great things about the results...and came across Dr. Carb, who was just down the street from my meetings. Dr Carb squeezed me in on Tuesday before I headed to the airport to head home. I noticed great improvement the next day, but still had a bit of pain if I tried anything resembling a run. On our drive up to the race on Thursday, I made a trip into the city to see Dr. Carb again for another treatment session. On Saturday, race day, I felt no pain as I started the swim, no pain on the 112 mile bike...and...amazingly no pain AT ALL during the marathon run! Thanks to Dr. Carb, I was not only able to compete, but I ended up taking 3rd place in my age group and 18th overall! Dr. Carb and A.R.T. WOW, if you want results, go see him! read more

Gregg Carb's chiropractic service is exceptional. Dr. Carb maintains his 5 star rating with me. I've been a fan of Active Release Therapy ever since Dr. Mark Thompson helped me with a seized back. But not all practitioners I've seen since Mark have been even nearly as good as he was. But Dr. Carb ranks right up along side of Dr. Thompson. I'd been having serious IT band issues since training for and running the SF half recently. I had the San Jose half coming up and all my other treatments and therapy were having no results with the IT band, so I decide to give ART a try, but I didn't trust the last two ART specialists I had seen, and Dr. Thompson is no longer treating people. I found Dr. Carb here on Yelp, and it didn't hurt that his office is a block away from mine. In only *three sessions, my IT band issues were solved, and just in time for the San Jose half. I ran it and had no IT band issues whatsoever. It should be obvious by now that I highly recommend Dr. Carb for ART treatments. - - - - *I did have a cortisone injection a couple of days before the race, which was helpful, but I did that as a precaution. In my training runs prior to the race, after the sessions with Dr. Carb but before the injection, I had no more problems with the IT band. So Dr. Carb's work still gets the credit! read more

I have always been nervous to go to the chiropractor... I mean for real, who wouldn't be anxious about someone grabbing your body and snapping your bones? I was told by a friend though that it would help the back problems I was having so I decided to give it a shot. Of course, I looked for the most well-reviewed place in the bay area and this place popped up. I called to make an appointment and from that moment on it was nothing but a positive experience. The appointment-making process is incredibly easy, and the receptionist is incredibly kind, and she always reminds you via text when you have an upcoming appointment - not some robot. Their facility is right downtown, which I can dig, and is cozy and intimate. The first time I met Dr. Gregg Carb - and every time since then - he has been simply fantastic. Very thoughtful and kind, and is always gentle with everything he does. He has always given great advice and is continuing to help me avoid going in for surgery. After each visit I always feel so much more relief in my back. I am always excited for my next session, not just for the good body work, but for the good company and relaxed setting. I couldn't recommend this office any more. Thanks Gregg and team! read more

I have been visiting here for 2 years now and love it. Highly recommend it. Services are awesome. Very clean facility and everyone in the staff is very warm and gentle. I can't believe I haven't already reviewed Dr. Carb...his ART therapy has gotten me through more than a few a injuries over the years. His understanding of injuries, how to treat and his hands on approach are extremely effective. I'm truly grateful for having been referred to him. read more

After dealing with lower back pain for sometime, I visited Dr. Carb who was able to assess my problem and through ART help by body with the pain. It was not the usual chiropractic experience I was used to in the past. The Dr. told me what was needed to improve my situation (lumbar support, correct seating, stretch exercises to do daily) and gave me very good results. ART can be a bit painful, but the results are amazing. I recommend this doctor! read more

I've had a problem with my back from sleeping incorrectly for 2 years. Dr. Carb was able to correctly diagnose and prescribe my problem in 1 session. I actually initially told him the wrong area for my pain point and he was able to find the correct area on his own (found a knot in my back). He even gave me advice on good insoles and lumbar support for other problems I've had. read more

I have put off going to the chiro for two years but I am so glad I found dr. Carb off the A.R.T. Website. He gave an incredibly thorough evaluation and immediately identified my various issues. One week into his suggested stretches and I feel so much better. I asked if I could see him twice a week and he insisted that one was more than enough. He is in this for his patients and his concern for my well being was apparent. Dr. Carbs bedside manner is incredibly comforting and despite the amount of pain I was in, he made me feel very at ease. I have been receiving chiropractic care since I was 13 for various issues but I can confidently say Dr.carb identified my needs faster than any professional I have ever seen. I am so excited to get better with his help. Thank you Dr. Carb! read more

Dr. Carb is a true gem! He practices traditional chiropractic services, but also A.R.T. (active release therapy) and is an expert at both. I've been receiving treatments from him for well over a year now, and he has contributed greatly to my recovery from very serious repetitive strain injury (i.e. too much keyboarding) as well as helped me greatly improve my posture and reduce chronic neck, back, and shoulder pain. His treatments have never been painful (unlike other practitioners I've tried), and his bedside manner is unparalleled (he really listens). Also, it is clear that he is interested in making his patients *well*, rather than keeping us coming back for endless treatments. He offers flexible hours and works with most insurance, and also offers very competitive rates if you don't have insurance for chiropractic (like me). I am so grateful to have found Dr. Carb and highly recommend his services to anyone suffering chronic or acute musculoskeletal (sp?) or nerve pain, or simply if you spend lots of hours in front of a computer, as a preventative measure. Thank you Dr. Carb! read more

My secret nickname for Dr. Carb is Dr. Pain. I'm not gonna lie, when he works on me it hurts...A LOT. But he is one of the only doctors that has been helpful treating a birth injury that I have never fully recovered from. He isn't a miracle worker but I think he is a skilled Doc who does the most in his power to help the people he treats. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Carb if you are in need of a chiropractor. He explains everything, he's gentle, he doesn't try to get you to buy expensive gadgets that don't work and he really takes a holistic approach to treatment. He tries to get you to change the things that are causing you to have pain in the first place, whether that's the way you sit, the way you exercise, the way you stand, etc. He's really about helping you help yourself. I've been to other chiropractors but I really have to say that Dr. Carb is the best. read more

Dr. Carb is amazing! I am a musician, and first saw him several years ago for a very painful repetitive motion hand injury. Before visiting Dr. Carb, over the previous year and half, I had been to several medical practitioners, ranging from hand surgeons to an OMD, and none were able to help. After two very painful cortisone injections failed to help, the last hand surgeon I saw recommended surgery. A friend suggested I give ART (active release therapy) a try, and I found Dr. Carb thru the ART directory. Following my first visit, the next day I was astonished to discover actual relief. After the first week of three treatments, my hand was 50% better. He very quickly reduced the frequency of visits, and in 3 months time, I was 95% cured. Since then, I have periodically seen Dr. Carb for other physical ailments, and he has never failed to deliver quality, ethical, and compassionate medical care. His depth of knowledge is immense, and he will refer you to someone else if the problem is outside his scope. Highly recommended! read more

Dr. Carb is the BEST! I have been seeing him for the past few years and he does an AWESOME job! He fixed my carpal tunnel / tendonitis!!! I have never felt better in my life! I referred my boss to him too and my boss was so thankful that I referred him to Dr. Carb. Dr. Carb is the "real deal" and he does not do anything on you that doesn't need to be done. He is truthful and gives great advice. I will be seeing him as long as I possibly can! read more

Dr. Carb was amazing. I had been having this sciatic pain issue and was seeing a chiropractor in Los Angeles. Since I work downtown San Francisco, decided to have a visit with the Dr. My pain kept coming back every so often and that didn't make sense. It would be in my left thigh and made it difficult to walk. I had to go see someone else. He was incredible. No back cracking, but more stretching than anything. I saw him for 2 visits, and now my pain has been completely gone. I would definitely recommend Dr. Carb for any pain you may be experiencing from your back or in your leg. read more

Julia is super sweet and always happy to accommodate my schedule for appointments. I went to see Dr. Carb for sciatic problems and he's taught me a lot about the joints and fascia in the body. I've seen other chiros and he's been able to make the most improvement for sure. I also love that I've come in with other problems (tweaked neck, foot injury) and he's happy to address them. Bonus points for the heating pad/mechanical roller bed at the end of treatment that almost always puts me to sleep. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Carb since 2007 and I'm continually amazed how he solves my issues in just a few sessions. He's not one of those doctors who says that you'll need to see him every week for a year to be fixed. In fact, I usually go in just once or twice a year and I walk out of there with everything working again. And then I wonder why I waited so long to make an appointment. Plus he has a massaging table that you lay on after he does the adjustment that is heavenly. read more

I see reviews of high quality patient care here - but look what their Dr. Greg Carb wrote me! I was referred to him from Kaiser for multiple issues. I emailed him pointing out these issues & he wrote back: "Hi, please aware that Kaiser is an HMO and the reimbursement is minimal. And that is an understatement. Having an office in SF means significant overhead, and we can only provide a service equal to the reimbursement of that service. That is the only way we can remain in-network with these plans. If that does not work with your situation, please let us know and we will cancel your appointment. Thank you for your understanding. Dr. Gregg Carb" This is outrageous - he is saying that Kaiser doesn't pay him enough to give me proper care by him & for me to go somewhere else. He "only provides a service equal to the reimbursement" that Kaiser pays him. I was referred by my Kaiser dr. This is my ONLY medical insurance - why is this loser dr a health care provider to Kaiser if he cannot help people and do his best? read more

Dr. Carb stands out as practitioner with heart and an exceptional talent for healing. By combining his chiropractic and ART (active release technique) techniques he has been able to meet the needs of our entire family. During my 13 years as national level competitive gymnastics, I attribute my physical heath--never sustaining a fracture, ligamentous tear, or dislocation--to my continual treatments with Dr. Carb. In addition, he has treated my mother's carpal tunnel and two frozen shoulders, my father's foot and back pains, and my sister's track and martial arts injuries. Dr. Carb has tremendous skill, a caring heart, and takes the time to listen to his clients. Beyond all of this, he has also been a fantastic mentor for me during my undergraduate pre-medical coursework by quizzing me on human anatomy and fostering my inquisitive mind about the causation and mechanism of injury. As many reviewers have stated before, he is the best I know for sports and work related injuries and I have nothing more to say then that I highly, highly, highly recommend him. read more

I recently had left hip pain and went to see Dr. Carb. The next day my hip pain was gone. Simply amazing.

I've been a patient of Dr. Carb's for several years now. He's helped me so much with my repetitive strain injury. He practices Active Release Technique, a type of deep tissue work, and at times it hurts like a you-know-what, but I always leave his office feeling better. He's great about offering exercises and advice for self care, and he's a truly gentle person who does everything he possibly can to take care of his patients. The office is also really helpful with insurance and extremely accommodating if I need to reschedule, even at the last minute. Full disclosure: I copy edited his book, Sitting Pretty. (I mean, if you go look me up on Amazon, there I am, so there's no point hiding it.) However, I formed my opinion of him a long time before I agreed to work on the book. I thought he was great then, and I think he's great now. read more

I've been using Dr. Carb's chiropractic services for years for neck and shoulder pain and must say he's awesome. I've tried other chiropractors from time to time and always end up going back to Dr. Carb. Not only does he do the adjustment, but also applies active muscle release technique (it feels like a massage), so the visit is not merely a 5 minute adjustment like it is in so many other chiropractic offices. Office is very accomodating in last minute cancellations or trying to get an appointment on a whim. The receptionist is super friendly, too! read more

Dr. Carb is the best Chiropractor I know... I've had some bad ones, but doesn't take a genius to know what feels good or bad for your body. I have seen Dr. Carb on and off for the past 15 years and absolutely love him. I have recommended so many people to Dr. Carb because I believe in his abilities and his ethics. If he can't do anything for you, he does not lead you along just to get money. He will tell you that he can't help and even help refer you to others that may be able to help. He truly has a patient's interest at heart. Although I found Dr. Carb due to a work repetitive stress injury (which he fixed most of it in 5 visits), I continued to see him through my own insurance whenever I have spine issues or other potential repetitive stress issue. His blend of both chiropractic and active release really addresses most of my problems and I don't have to see a chiropractor separately from a physical therapist. He addresses skeletal and connective tissues - a total package. However, because he is a chiropractor, most insurance offers some coverage for his service. Dr. Carb had cured me of neck pain, low back/hip pain and most recently of a shoulder problem that made it painful just to slide a shower door close. In 3 visits, I was 80% better. If you pay the going rate for massages that only provide temporary relieve, I recommend you give Dr. Carb a try. I've found for the price I would have paid for massages to address symptoms, Dr. Carb cures the cause. So even if you don't have insurance or your insurance doesn't cover his service - if you pay for massages, you money may be better spent with Dr. Carb. read more

Dr. Carb is the best. I appreciate that he talks to me about what's going on in my body like I can understand and graciously answers my questions, affirms ideas I have about my body that he agrees with and clears up misconceptions I have without condescending. He seems to take an investigative approach. I come away understand what's going wrong and feeling better than when I came in. I have experienced significant improvement with my hip and other issues over the years thanks to his attention and skill. The combination of chiropractic adjustment and ART had been extremely effective. In addition, he and Julia (at the front desk) are so friendly and welcoming. I always look forward to seeing them. Note that starting in November Dr. Carb will be working elsewhere on Tuesdays and Thursdays so the office will be closed those days going forward. Get your appointments! read more

I had a flaming case of plantar fasciitis about a month before I was to leave on a yearlong planned trip to climb the Schilthorn in Switzerland. I was very concerned that I would not be able to go and therefore bring the trip down for everyone else. I researched treatment online and came across ART and found Dr. Carb was skilled in this modality. I am so grateful to him. The hands on manipulation and religiously following his advice of icing and stretching at home and a softer orthotic did the trick. I was pain free for the trip which was the experience of a lifetime. I would have missed it without his help. I continue to use the stretches to prevent becoming symptomatic again. His web-site is very educational and I am reading his book, "The Science of Sitting Made Simple." I am working on that piece because I tend to be a sloucher :-( The book is highly informative and has created an urgency in me to pay attention to my posture for overall good health. I am very impressed and recommend Dr. Carb highly as a skillful and expert practitioner. The bonus is that he has a very kind low-key manner about him which makes for a pleasant visit. I must also note that his secretary is just lovely...so professional and respectful. She is a great asset to his office. read more
