Went out shopping one day for a Bad Boy Maverick mower. The biggest and the best.Tractor Supply is…read morethe main dealer, and I was nearby, so I dropped by the Summerdale, Alabama store. They had one there but it already had a few hours on it, there was rust in a number of places on it, especially around the armrests, and some genius had installed the roll bar backwards! I was commenting upon the fact that this didn't seem to be a new one, and an employee told me it had been returned almost immediately by somebody who took it home. "It had some problems," he said. I live in Bay Minette, Alabama, so I quickly left Summerdale to see if they had one in Bay Minette. I told the store manager, Kerry, all about the horror-story machine I'd seen in Summerdale, and asked him if he could get me a brand-new Maverick. "Absolutely, give me a few days." I told him I would need it on the 22nd of July, once we closed on our new house, and he said that would be no problem. A few days went by, and he said it was there; he'd ordered it in special. We went to look at it, and it was gorgeous. The paint on the armrests wasn't black OR rusty, it was a midnight blue shade, and shiny-new. The roll bar folded backward; it was installed correctly. What a beauty! I offered a down payment to hold it. "No need," he said, "we have room to hold it here for you. It won't be a problem." The 22nd rolled around, and my wife went in and paid for it. After work, I went to pick it up. We were hooking up the rental trailer, waiting for Kerry to show up, and he never brought it around until we were all done. Then he never let me get near it, and insisted on loading it himself. Then he fussed over me shaking my hand over and over and pretty much escorting me to my truck door, and all but pushing me inside the cab. "Now, bring that trailer back right away," he said, though they didn't close until 9:00. I promised I would, and returned it as soon as I unloaded the tractor. The weekend came, and I went out to drive the new mower, but it soon became clear that this wasn't the mower I had agreed to buy. No; THIS mower has rust in spots all over it. Especially around the armrests. And the paint on the armrests is black! Oh, and it had several hours on it. The one we agreed to buy had ZERO time on the hour meter. To my horror, I realized the ROLL BAR was installed backwards so that it folded onto the seat! The SUMMERDALE machine! OMG! Tractor Supply - and Kerry specifically - had switched machines on me. This was not the machine I had agreed to buy. I've been working on it ever since. It took me nearly three hours to remove and reinstall the roll bar so it folds backward over the engine, instead of onto the seat. If you'll have to take your eyes off of your purchase for even a second, I recommend that you avoid Tractor Supply in Bay Minette. I'll never make another purchase of any size from them. I paid seven thousand dollars for a new Bad Boy Maverick mower, and I got bait-and-switched, and ended up with a USED problem-ridden machine I had driven thirty miles to specifically avoid buying.
