I found a mini-beach where I could get sandy feet while relaxing in an adirondack chair, a bathtub of goldfish for zen-like pond watching, wind chimes hidden in a tree, butterflies dancing between flowers, a vegetable garden, bees doing their pollinating work, and yes, even a mouse foraging for its share. For those who live near the garden, it also seems to have composting bins in the back, to help supply fertilizer for the garden and perhaps neighbors as well. It's certainly an Oasis in the city, with only a hint of noise from nearby 10th Ave, and very little traffic along 52nd St. My only reason for deducting a star is that it doesn't seem like it would be open often enough for many passersby to enjoy.

I'm happy again, knowing the compost program at Union Square will go on on weekdays (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) and Saturdays, and that I can also take my compost to the site on 7th street on Sundays. Since few of us own land or even have community gardens to take our compost to, this is significant. Many of us had gotten in the habit of saving our kitchen scraps and thereby creating topsoil; it's an unequivocally good thing to do.

The artificial grass carpet was a bit weird but it made the place feel more comfortable. Whereas many community areas like this lack bathrooms, Continental Center had two gender-neutral bathrooms, which was kept clean. One minor downside was that even though there were many outlets throughout the space, only one outlet was close enough to the seats so that you can sit while you charge your belongings. Another concern was that there was an annoying sound (probably coming from the escalator?) every once in a while, like chalk scratching a blackboard. It would be great if that can be fixed.

She's not just running a daycare; she's an Early Childhood Developmental Specialist who feels like a partner on our parenting journey. The free monthly parental classes she offers have been a lifeline. My husband and I, as new parents, often feel lost in a sea of parenting blogs and conflicting advice. Sitting down with Ms. Huey, who has decades of real experience, gave us clear, practical steps to help our son's development and manage those tricky toddler behaviors at home. It's been invaluable. It's one thing to be told your child is in good hands, but it's another to see the results for yourself. We have been amazed to see our son truly blossom here. Because Ms. Huey and her wonderful staff tailor activities to him, his speech and motor skills have improved significantly. He's chatting more, knows his letters, and has started proudly putting on his own shoes. And the best part? He is genuinely excited for "school" every morning. The staff sends us photos and updates, and when he comes home and cheerfully tells us about his day (in his own adorable toddler way!), we know he feels happy and loved there. I have to mention the food--it's amazing! They serve home-cooked, healthy meals daily, which is a wonderful alternative to the processed foods served at many other places. Even our picky eater regularly clears his plate. What's more, he hasn't gotten sick once since he started (knock on wood!). For us, this has been a huge deal. He was way below the growth chart before attending, so seeing him gain weight and thrive has been the biggest blessing. It's a testament to how clean they keep the facility and the wonderful care they provide. Plus, after touring some tiny, cramped daycares, the spacious rooms here feel like a luxury, giving the kids plenty of room to run and just be kids. In summary, we wholeheartedly recommend Future Scholars Center. Every detail--from staff selection and meal preparation to the activity planning--is thoughtfully curated to create a nourishing environment for children. I looked…read moreinto their public NYC Health inspection history, and there have been past violations involving an unsafe heating apparatus classified as a public health hazard, lack of a First Aid/CPR-trained staff member on site at the time of inspection, missing allergy-response training, fire-drill documentation issues, supervision concerns, staff medical-clearance issues, fingerprint-screening problems, and food-storage concerns, but as a parent we need to make sure our kids are safe before we trust any day care that has bad record especially when it comes to inspection.

Prospect Park is a beautiful park. It gets overshadowed by Central Park, but I think we like it…read morethat way. We're okay with gatekeeping it even though it's not really even hidden. It's gorgeous, it's spacious - no tourists, no horse rides.

Off leash hours are dog heaven at this massive park. Our pug has a great time doing zoomies around…read morethe big grassy fields. The dog beach area is awesome in summer. There's so many things to see and explore in this park. Ponds, bridges, sports fields, waterfalls, a zoo, statues, an ice rink, fountains, farmers markets and food stalls. Easy to catch the F to 15th/Prospect Park.
