Ihate to leave a review like this, but my experience was honestly uncomfortable because of Marty. After I made a purchase, I walked toward the front to quickly look at an item near the door, and she immediately came over and stood there watching me very closely like I was doing something wrong. It felt very targeted and unnecessary, especially considering I had literally just paid. What made it worse was that as soon as I walked away, she walked away too, which made it obvious her behavior was directed specifically at me. It came across as profiling and made me feel extremely uncomfortable. No customer should feel watched or singled out after making a purchase. That kind of behavior completely ruins the shopping experience. On a positive note, Lori was absolutely fabulous--friendly, professional, and welcoming. She was the only reason the visit wasn't a complete negative. Unfortunately, because of Marty's behavior, I'd seriously think twice before coming back. read more

Heck Ya... this shop is a hidden gem in Monterey for high-rez printed photos. WOW!! Price is very good for quality & ordering is a cinch because it's done online using intuitive AI through the website. We can pay online or pay in the store. Once one enters the store, it's a camera-person's fun zone (I guess). I didn't understand any of the products, except the frames. Doesn't matter, really, because the staff is incredibly helpful to everyone who enters the store. Location is convenient at Del Monte Mall in Monterey with nearby parking. Store is generally open during mall hours. Whether you're looking for a gift or something for yourself, or just need some printed photos, Green's Camera World is the best option in Monterey County. THEY LOST MY MEMORIES AND RUINED MY FILM!!! USE CAUTION WHEN DOING BUSINESS HERE. Incredibly disappointed in the service and will not be bringing any film here for processing EVER again. I dropped off four disposable cameras, and I was not asked if the film was B&W or color. The shop assumed it was color and ruined all four spools of film. My memories from my vacation, trip and bachelorette party are all gone now. I will never get those back thanks to this store. They easily could've called me to confirm the film type, googled the type of camera or processed one test roll first before processing to process the remaining three film rolls. Unprofessional, lazy and incompetent. Do not bring your film here unless you want to lose all your memories and photos. read more

The store is nice, with a lot of good equipment, and the staff are somewhat knowledgeable and helpful. However, if you are looking to buy film or drop it off for development, go somewhere else. To start, their film prices are unreasonably high. A roll of Kodak Ultramax 400 cost me $15, which would have only cost $9 online or at another shop. If you have the ability to buy your film somewhere else I would highly suggest doing so. When it comes to developing film things get even worse. The price isn't bad, but the results are well below average. My roll of black and white film was underdeveloped, resulting in flat images lacking depth and contrast. The scans were very low resolution and therefore lacked detail. You might doubt my claims, but I worked in a darkroom and have developed and scanned hundreds of rolls of film. I have also been shooting film for years and I shot this particular roll on a Leica. I am positive that my film was not improperly exposed and that any lack of detail was not a result of my equipment. I would have loved to leave a good review for this shop. I always try to shop at local business, but I can't support a service that just isn't up to par. My review might seem harsh, but I'm just being honest. I just went through a big move so I don't have my own chemicals set up, but it seems I'll just have to continue processing and scanning my own film from now on. read more

Awesome place! I'm new to the film world and the staff has been very helpful. Each time I've been in, someone has been there to answer all of my questions and even give me some tutorials to use my camera. They've been so kind and I never felt judged while asking questions. I took in film to be developed and the turnaround time was fantastic!!! I brought the 35mm film in on a Sunday night and it was ready Monday afternoon!!! Great store and great staff! read more

What can I say. Mom and pop camera stores are few and far between for us central valley residents. If you see one, you have an obligation to go inside and buy something. Greens Camera World has not only managed to stay open all these years, but they still have multiple locations. I'm frankly jealous and wish we had a store like this closer to home. We came here because I had forgotten a reflector for a wedding... We ended up not using the reflector. They were nice enough to let me return it the next day. My friend ended up buying a film camera and some film. I ended up getting some accessories for my new camera, including a very comfortable neck strap. Prices for certain items are higher than most, which is to be expected, but they also had a line of very affordable things. The guys who work here know their stuff and know their inventory. They have a large range of products for most major camera brands. Doesnt hurt that they are all sweethearts to boot. If we ever find ourselves back in the bay, you best believe we are coming in! Amazon may have 2 day shipping, but you just can't buy good service from people who love to talk about cameras. read more

The woman at the Del Monte shop could not have been less helpful or more alienating. I went over because the Salinas store person, Sam, had said the Monterey store had a camera I wanted to see. Sam was helpful and knowledgeable, but didn't have what I was looking for. In Monterey, every question I asked was put down immediately and I left after several attempts to be friendly and get some information. Green's Camera World advertises that they do camera repair. From my experience I can tell you that they do not. I took my Nikon 8008 camera to them for repair. It had been sitting unused for 18 years and the shutter & mirror were sluggish and not operating reliably. It clearly needed to be cleaned and lubed. The zoom lens I used as my normal lens had an aperture that was stuck open, also likely due to lubrication issues. They quoted me a price for cleaning and (I thought) lubrication. I got home and had a message on my old home answering machine saying that they contacted their repair person (they repair in Salinas, and I brought the camera to the Del Monte store) and he said he couldn't do anything with the camera. So, apparently, all they can do is blow some air across your camera to remove dust, clean the lenses, and charge you $75 for something you could do yourself in five minutes or less. They clearly are incapable of repairing a camera because mine was the simplest possible repair, requiring that the repair person unscrew the cover and then clean and lubricate the parts. I doubt that any parts needed replacement (I repair lots of things, so I have a pretty good idea of how things work and how they are repaired). I like the store and I like the people, but I do NOT like having my time wasted by a store which advertises a service that they cannot actually perform. Take your repairs somewhere else. read more

Bah Humbug!! Wanted to buy local even though it might cost more. Thinking excellent service would be worth supporting a local business I instead found a clerk with a care less attitude - when someone says to me "sorry about that" in response to not having the camera I was looking for tells me they really are not sorry. I forgot my battery charger in San Francisco, so I naturally used Yelp to find any open camera store on my way to Carmel. I first tried Best Buy in Santa Cruz. I tried calling Best Buy, and the automated phone options basically said, check the Internet because sales associates cannot discuss inventory on the phone. I tried to search online but my efforts were thwarted by poor connectivity. I stopped at Best Buy, but no luck. Item was not in inventory. Additionally, the sales associate kept calling my micro 4/3 camera a DSLR. I was feeling skeptical. Maybe he just didn't recognize the model since they don't carry any Olympus DSLR and Micro 4/3 cameras. Continuing my drive to Carmel, I found Green's. I called ahead and (1) someone answered; no automation; and (2) the guy who answered looked for what I was searching for and found it. Wow... Amazing right? Seems so normal but Best Buy cannot do that for you. I arrived at the store 30 minutes before closing on a holiday weekend. There were a couple people ahead of me and only 1 person working. After being there 10 minutes, the guy saw me checking out the chargers, and asked if I was the caller. He helped me and checked me out within 1 minute before going into another sale with another customer reviewing cameras so I didn't have to wait another 10 minutes since I had what I needed. I appreciated that, and I hope the other customer agreed that it was the right thing to do to check me out first given I only needed 1 minute of his time while they needed 15-20 to review cameras. Summary... 1. Better than Best Buy for selection and customer service 2. Stays open until 7pm on Saturday unlike other boutique camera stores 3. Had what I needed! read more

Was down in Monterey and Big Sur for the weekend and stopped through on the way back after realizing an actual camera store was nearby. Only picked up lens cleaner but the staff was extremely friendly and helpful in point in Benin the right direction regarding polarizing or UV filters, as well as suggesting some entry and enthusiast grade macro lenses. Very excited to find a local camera shop and will definitely be making the drive down from Santa Cruz in the future for new toys to fuel my hobby! read more

I stopped at the Del Monte store on 3/29/21. Linda answered All my questions on the newest camera technology. She showed me the newest Sony and Olympus pocket cameras which I am now researching. She described and offered me a used Canon SX600HS which I bought. Visiting CameraWorld and viewing the latest pocket cameras was a highlight of my day as I learned so much from Linda and left with a bargain priced camera with a 18X telephoto lens. I brought my full-frame to California to shoot the gorgeous coast near Monterey, but on the way I dropped my camera (lens first) in a parking lot. My favorite lens (105mm) was inoperable. I couldn't even get the cap off. When I arrived at Green's Camera World and told my story to Sam, he went to work in as friendly and professional a manner as I could ever want. In seconds he removed the lens cap. In another few minutes he had the UV filter off (no easy task) and was carefully blowing broken glass off my baby. The lens glass survived without a scratch. Sam patiently tested the lens on a camera body he knew and trusted, and then he returned the lens to my camera. I was happy to buy a new filter -- Sam never asked -- and was impressed by the selection available. Green's offers expert service with a friendly attitude. To the reviewers who complained about rudeness, I would say that they are missing the widespread problem all store-front operations have with people who pretend to be customers in order to try out the product in the vicinity of the store before returning it and buying for less on line. Even if that's not what the reviewers planned, most of us can easily understand how it looks to an owner when someone returns a camera for reasons other than a defect in manufacturing. read more

I went into Green's Camera World to get a photo of my grandparents photocopied. Then, I was going to then frame it and give to to my uncle for his birthday. The photo was professionally taken and looks great, despite all the years that it has been stored away. I asked a neurotic and frantic lady who worked there if she could help me. She looked at the photo and REFUSED to photocopy it. She noticed there was a logo at the bottom (the photo was taken at an event) and said it looked like it was professionally taken. Yes, this is all true. But...then she very rudely said she will not be a part in replicating it because it was illegal. Firstly, these are MY grandparents from a different country...no one is going to sue you. Secondly, you are rude and have incredibly horrific interpersonal skills. You simply do not speak to customers in a condescending manner. After I left the shop I went to another store and they did a great job photocopying my photo at a fraction of the price. I gave it to my uncle and he was overwhelmed with emotion (his parents have passed away many many years ago). I will not go back to Green's. I went into Green's Camera World because I got my 50mm lens stuck on my camera. The lens dropped and the guts popped out. When I tried to remove the lens, it would rotate partially but stop. I searched online for ways to remove it and got pretty close to getting it off but was unable to completely remove it. I wasn't sure if Green's did camera repairs but I was hoping they could help, and to my delight, they did! Marty greeted me and was trying to help me figure it out. When we had decided that I should probably just try to cut the lens, Patrick showed up and took a gentler approach to it. While Marty and I were talking, Patrick successfully removed my lens! This was a huge relief to me as I broke the lens today and need my camera tomorrow and do not have time to get it fixed anywhere else. They were both very patient, helpful, kind, and didn't make me feel bad about messing up my lens. I was so happy I even bought something when I didn't plan on it! We were on a trip to Monterey and forgot to bring a charger for the camera. The folks at Green's helped me find one and then let me charge the battery in their store while we went to get lunch. When I got back, they mentioned the charger they sold me actually didn't work, but they were able to charge it using one of their own, so they refunded me the $$$ and gave me a fully charged battery back. If possible go somewhere else. I am all about supporting local businesses but not when the owner is rude, unhelpful, and unprofessional. Upon returning an item that I had bought the day before, the owner made a comment to me that she was tired of people buying her products, using them and then returning them. This is a very bad assumption to make and state to a customer of yours. If you are so concerned with people using your products and returning them you should have a restocking fee on all of your items just like Best Buy does. Don't complain to me about things that you can fix. Aside from this incident the owner always seems to be unhappy and unapproachable which are two qualities that you do not want to have as a store owner. read more

My husband and I have gone here numerous times. They have done a great job with transferring our old home videos from 8mm to dvd. They completed the transfer in a very timely manner and the prices were very reasonable. The staff are quite knowledgable and let us test out a few higher end cameras in order for us to make a better decision on what to invest in. read more
