The team at Greenlawn have taken care of my family that passed as well of those of the church I pastor. They are kind, friendly and thoughtful. Staff was off-putting and at times rude. Did not respect the specific requests that were clearly given. Grooming was very obviously poorly done. Casket was supposed to be closed and draped in the flag during the service, was not. Many more mistakes made, but no acknowledgment or sympathy that what they presented to us was not at all what was requested. Put unnecessary pain and stress on an already difficult and hard day. Greenlawn is the last truly "locally" owned funeral homes in Springfield. Greenlawn Funeral Home - North is a beautiful facility - recently remodeled. Both of my grandparents' services were held at this chapel. They made arrangements as easy as possible on our family. The services were professional and honored my grandparents' lives. read more

The service wasn't bad. My rating is based on two things. I sent them an email a couple of weeks after the service for some information and I never got a reply. The second problem had to do with the condolences and remembrances. We were told that the site would be a permanent place of storage of remembrances. I wrote a couple of heartfelt stories about my son and planned to do that each year on the anniversary of his passing. Here it is two and a half year later I look on the site and a lot of the stuff is missing. Again I contacted them by email and I have not received any response. The only conclusion that I can reach is that they are liars and once they have their money they are done with you. I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

First the good: The funeral director was extremely helpful. From picking out the casket to planning the service. We told him what we wanted and he made it happen. Since my father was a veteran, we had the USAF honor guard there for the flag service, the VFW for the rifle salute, and the PGR provided escort. We had a reception at the funeral home. They allowed us to bring all of the food and drinks up the day before and they stored them in their fridge. They set up the room and brought everything out so it was ready to go after the service. We were very pleased with the way everything went up to that point. We filled out the paperwork for his VA grave marker. I was told that the VA goes by last name, and that it could be several months before they received it. Now the bad: I called them today. I had been told I'd be notified when the marker was placed. I had yet to receive a call. They never filed the paperwork with the VA. They were very apologetic, but that doesn't really help. My dad has been laying there in an unmarked grave for about six months. I'm not happy. We used this funeral home because we have a family plot there. Up until this issue, I was very happy with everything. My advice is, if something is left undone after the funeral, don't wait a few months to check on it. Make sure they've done their job. read more

It's very sad that after you lose someone that you love. My grandmother took it upon herself to pre-pay for her final expenses with Greenlawn. When she passed, it was out of state. (New York)!So a local N.Y. funeral home provider took care of the remains. We reached out to Greenlawn for reimbursement for that service. Greenlawn has told us we must go through probate court in order for them to return the funds. As they have a hard time giving money back for services they did not perform. They will gladly take your money. Perform a wonderful service. But they are not in the business of giving anything other than that. read more

Absolutely the BEST place in the area!!! Cannot say enough good things about them!! I've used two of their locations and was thoroughly pleased every time. I've never heard anyone ever say anything negative about them and I've also highly recommended them to multiple people. They make sure they cover all options with you based on YOUR desires, YOUR budget, etc. I've never known them to be the least bit pushy or arrogant. They try to help you in any way possible; I will never do business with anyone else ever again! I used the competitor in far southeast Springfield (Hwy. 60 & 65 interchange) exactly once and will always regret it. Cannot say enough bad things about this place and will never have anything positive to say about them. They use multiple business names in an effort to hide so check every possibility in order to read my review of them. read more

Don't use this home unless you really like the dated 90s look, constant miscommunication, and blue shag chairs. Seriously, my family had several issues with this home. Everything was extremely unprofessional. EVERYTHING. They didn't print the obit, they packed up the body and sealed the casket while family was still in the visitation, and rolled her outside before coming back in to announce what the pallbearers were supposed to do... Then at the graveside, the officiant (hired by green lawn) was struggling to keep his papers in his plain file folder. How ghetto. The canopy was a dated bright blue and the chairs were bright blue shag. Bright blue shag. I can't believe how much money my family paid these guys for such poor/trashy service. read more

Do not use this funeral home! An employee, Robert, was very rude and loud toward me when I went to the funeral home. I was there to pick up a form for a friend who he was upset with. He refused to give me the form, so I got one off the internet. This interaction was in front of an elderly woman who was sitting in the hall, well within hearing distance. I felt very bad for her.
