I am currently living in San Francisco so San Franciscans in Philly can think of Mom's Organic Market akin to Rainbow Grocery in SF. Mom's has a great variety of local and organic produce. Hard to find items that you would find in a good well stocked natural food store or cooperative like Mom's is. Staff is friendly. The layout of the store is a labyrinth that can be confusing like a rubik's cube too far gone yet with a little patience and perhaps asking security, staff, or one of the regulars they can help you get your learning curve to navigate the store of organic natural food product heaven. Within Mom's is the Naked Lunch vegan restaurant which I will return to have a bite there as it looks interesting. I am a proud graduate of the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at Naropa University in Boulder, CO where I received the William S. Burroughs scholarship. I did my thesis on William S. Burroughs and William S. Burroughs wrote Naked Lunch aka the cut up novel for which this restaurant is named. Since I was in Philly two weeks I was mixing up dining out at the wonderful vegan foodie scene in Philly along with cooking at my homestay. For cooking at my homestay at Mom's I picked up the following: Soymilk Local and organic blueberries Bananas Garnet jewel sweet potatoes Limes Avocados Organic granny smith apples Red cabbage Ginger root Sweet yellow onion I am pretty sure all the produce was organic. Mom's has been family owned and operated since 1987. Great bulk bin items. Great produce. In a word, great. Mom's sets the bar high for a natural food store. They are like the special forces of natural food stores which is quite alright in my book. Each day Mom's states customers prevent 9,233 grocery bags from being used. Mom's has banned over 250 ingredients from our products storewide. Mom's has chosen to print their receipts on BPA and BPS free paper products for the safety of it's community and the environment. In a word...Yes!

The very kind driver Yamil, was able to take a picture of the ingredients/label for a replacement due to dietary restrictions. My order was completed efficiently and timely with effective communication via chat. This was very convenient and I was able to use a $25 UberEats discount. Great customer service.

I've almost never had a pleasant experience here with the cashier staff and the two times that I thought they were actually nice (for a change) I'm always coincidentally asked to fill a survey after my interaction. And the situation just keeps getting worse. There is almost never a free shopping cart by the side entrance, the staff at the cash register always acts annoyed when they see you stand in line, and I've bought lamb here that smelled completely rotten that I've had to toss. One time, I had to go back to the store because the cashier charged me incorrectly for an item, I spent at least 20 minutes waiting to be helped. I thought ordering online for pick up would help me circumvent the bad experience, but nope. There's been many occasions when my online order was never fulfilled and I would need to cancel the order altogether because there was apparently no staff available to work on the order. When I do get my order fulfilled, the pick up experience is just awful. I would thank the staff member but 90% of the time I get a side eye and no response (there's only ONE lady that's actually nice and would acknowledge me). The list just goes on! Why do I even bother spending so much of my hard earned money here?

I grew up on this soup, and am very disappointed to hear what Campbell's thinks of their customers…read more They just put one of their one of their VP's on leave (only!) after he was recorded in a meeting saying (and I'm leaving out the profanities) "that they make their soup only for "poor people and "who buys our *?" and that he no longer buys their Campbell's "unhealthy" products now. As far as I was concerned, Campbells was a product that managed to transcended economic classes and traditionally used on holidays, along with regular lunch days. What a wakeup. Thankfully I'd just purchased the Cream of Celery for a Thanksgiving recipe and not opened it. Now it is back on the shelf in the store and actual label reading by me. Sorry Campbell's this is too sad for words.

Yes, I love sodium so yes, I do love me some Campbell's…read more.. Founded in 1869 by Joseph A. Campbell, they introduced a new recipe to Americans - canned condensed soup, something that rival H.J. Heinz couldn't manufacture at the time. Campbell's is now one of the largest processed food companies in the country, with headquarters still located in Camden, NJ. My spouse and I recently watched an interesting piece on them on the History Channel's "The Food That Built America" series.   MY FAVES: Beef with Vegetables & Barley - Dark in color and hearty due to vast amounts of barley.   Cream of Mushroom - The base for many-a-Hawaii home chefs!  Makes a great gravy for hamburger steak.   Homestyle Chicken Noodle - IMO better than regular Chicken Noodle due to the thinner cuts of noodles.   Minestrone - Honestly the best recipe I've tasted.  If you know of a restaurant that does it better, let me know because I haven't found them!   Old Fashioned Vegetable - Tastes like a hybrid of Vegetable and Beef with Vegetables & Barley.  Had to special order this on walmart.com as they're not sold on Maui.   Tomato - Only because my chili recipe calls for it.   Vegetable - Hands down my favorite whether it be for a hangover, craving, snack or side dish.   Vegetable Beef - The bits of beef are gross and tough but the rest of the soup is good with a medium-boldness.   FUN FACT: Two of my favorite potato chip brands fall under the Campbell's umbrella - Cape Cod & Kettle Brand. And don't forget about chicken broth giant, Swanson!   OVERALL: Processed convenience.
