In a city where there aren't too many self-service laundries, GreenandClean is a welcome sight. It's a chain operation with a bunch of locations throughout Vienna. Check out their website for the one closest to you. The place is clean and air-conditioned and will cost you 5 euros for a wash and 1.50 euros for a 10 minute dry (a 30 minute dry can be purchased for 3.5 euros). It accepts both bills and coins. They also have some cards you can purchase if you will be coming back often to lower the cost of each wash + dry, but it seemed like you'd have to come back a lot to make this worth it. One nice touch is that the cost includes detergent that is automatically discharged during the wash so you don't have to worry about handling detergent at all. Also, there's a snack vending machine in the place but it wasn't working when we were there.

For our 3-week honeymoon, we elected to bring clothes for half the time and do laundry during the trip. We'd assumed that it wouldn't be super expensive to have things washed at our hotel, but one look at the astronomical prices and the 1.5x holiday surcharge had me looking for another option. This location is closest Green & Clean to the city center of Vienna. (There are many other locations, but most are further outside the main tourist area). We packed up our dirty clothes into a suitcase for easy transport, and my husband and I actually walked here from our hotel (the Hollmann Beletage- HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!)- it was about 1.5 miles each way, but not bad, given the unseasonable 45 degree temperature we had. It was easy to figure out which washer/dryer was the most appropriate capacity, and although there were other people there, it wasn't super crowded and we didn't need to wait at all. To wash and dry about 10 days of winter gear for two people was about 30 euro- a vast improvement over the 300 euro bill we estimated at our hotel! Since we were in Vienna for a week, it was worth our time to spend 2 hours here, but even if you have less time, this place is open 24/7, and is not in a sketchy area- even if you have to come in the evening or early morning, it would be worth it. The vending machine was broken when we were here (23/12/15), and there is no grocery store/drugstore nearby, but it looked like the establishment was serviced regularly, so it's probably fixed now.

Clear directions for using the machines with translations in English.

We were very lucky to have found this place; many thanks to a yelper's very detailed and accurate review from Jul 2013. Prices have changed a little bit but we did some research on their website and were duly updated about the changes. Here's a bit of background for context - we were halfway into our 21 day trip with 2 carry-ons when we arrived in Vienna. So laundry was an essential task on our to-do list. Before proceeding, I want to add that laundry on-the-go is not an easy thing to do in many European cities, unless you are ready to shell out 9 euro for each pair of pants and so on, at your hotel. We'd already tried a laundromat in Munich but failed to complete the task (will soon post my review of our rather distressing experience with "Wash & clean" in Munich). So we could truly appreciate what the GC laundry had to offer. To us, their prices were completely fair for two reasons: (1) difficulty of finding more convenient / cheaper alternatives, and (2) being able to get what one needs done in a reasonable amount of time & in a CLEAN establishment. Not to mention that GC machines are eco-friendly (hence the name "Greenclean") so they add their own brand of detergent, softener etc. (automatic & included in the price) to the wash...which means we didn't have to worry about any of that. You pay for what you get, fair and square. What we loved about this place: We arrived at the Favoritenstraße location first thing on a Monday morning. Had the place all to ourselves. All signs inside had English translations ... this was a huge luxury, esp. after Germany. Prices, directions etc. were very clear. There were different sizes of machines for small to XL loads. We could fit two carry-ons worth of clothing into the 20 kg machine with a bit of room to spare. There were sanitizing wipes to wipe things down if needed. Washing & drying combined took just a tad over 1.5 hours total. Folding and packing up took 15 minutes more. In 2 hours we were back on the bus heading back to the hotel. How awesome is that? For reference, a Munich laundromat gave us an estimate of 1 hr wash + 1.5 hr dry time. As for entertainment, we weren't expecting free wifi. I really don't think that every business is responsible for keeping us entertained at all times ...either in my own country or overseas. There is a TV in there, by the way. Total spent to do a 20 kg load (wash & dry) 15 euro. Having clean clothes to wear for the next 10 days.. priceless. :) FYI, GC is part of a chain and there are several locations in Viennna. Their website has all necessary details in English, including the complete price chart. They might have locations in other European cities. We will certainly keep an eye out for them during our travels in future.

CAUTION with high-quality clothing! Silk dress returned damaged…read more I handed over a spotless silk dress to Jonny Fresh. The dress was returned to me with new, noticeable stains. When I complained, I was told that the stains had already been hidden - a cover story I do not accept. Customer service refused to compensate for the damage and only offered to reimburse the cleaning costs. Conclusion: Absolutely inadequate service and a complete lack of accountability for damages. I strongly advise against using this service for high-quality or delicate garments.

Please believe the bad reviews, any good reviews on Trustpilot must be from their own staff hoping…read moreto rebalance the appalling rating that Johnny Fresh has on Trustpilot. These lying thieves have destroyed expensive clothes in past orders - chemical / bleach stains in two pairs of trousers (chinos) , actual rips /pulled seams in a shirt - a full length down coat returned filthy and matted. We attempted to get them to take some responsibility as per their policy and reimburse for the damage and were given such a run around that we let it go. At the time our family were in crisis mode in our private life and did not have the headspace to worry about a few material items. Due to circumstance we need a pick up / drop off service for many things and have been stupid enough to use Johhny Fresh for cleaning again. 10 shirts were picked up on Monday - four of which were brand new, worn once and then added to the pile of work shirts to be cleaned. Wednesday these were returned to us ca. 8am. I gave each shirt a thorough check and of course two newer items have once again been damaged - they have the same chemical / bleach stains (exact stains) that the trousers had been returned with - clearly they continue to use a 3rd party who either is completely incompetent or just does not give a damn. I immediately emailed them - with pictures as per their own policy and attached the historic email with the damage to the trousers in order to highlight that not only have they returned clothes to us damaged on more than one occasion before - but the staining / damage is clearly the same! I received a response immediately only because I included members of the executive team : "The two shirts and the trousers are in their delivery condition and can be picked up again at your convenience. We would like to inspect the damage and determine how this could have happened." Which is so dismissively outrageous - firstly the trousers were damaged two years or so ago vs my shirts which had just arrived back - still with the dry clean tags / on the wire hangers / plastic packaging. What is there to determine ? Clearly each and every item was damaged in your care and it is both unprofessional and disgraceful that you are now going to ask me to be involved in 'determining how this could have happened' - this is a deep dive exercise for Johnny Fresh and their contractor - who are Johnny Fresh's agents. What have I got to do with the explanation that their outsourcer gives them in regards to "how this could have happened"?!? Clearly the next step would have been to to somehow pass the blame back to me once the shirts were back in Johnny Fresh's possession- I replied stating that she is welcome to send a member of their delivery / internal team to inspect the damage in order to determine "how this could have happened" in their care, but that I will not be further inconvenienced by them and that beggars belief that this request was even made - absolute radio silence since my reply. This seems to be their policy - respond, fob you off, then absolute silence. Clearly she could not even be bothered to read my email, as common sense would tell you that trousers no longer fit for purpose would probably not be still sitting in a persons wardrobe - common sense should really tell you that they probably were never put back on the wardrobe. Unfortunately, common sense and basic decency is something clearly lacking at Johnny Fresh. Can you imagine running a company that is routinely under fire - any decent team would be taking this very seriously. This place could not give a damn. Please, as a minimum, request your bank make a chargeback / open a case via PayPal and request a refund for the shoddy service received. This is a very easy process and if you provide your bank / PayPal with details / pictures and let them know that Johhny Fresh are fobbing you off your payment provider will help you as their client. This can also be done historically up to a certain time frame, please check. Johnny Fresh are under obligation to deliver on their own terms of service which is contractual.
