I've been going to Lakewood Shores for a number of years, and have noticed many changes over the…read moreyears. The lodging accommodations are old and tired, and although you can see some minor improvements in the lodging buildings, there is much more to do. Just old, tired, a bit musty, and in need of some rehab effort. The TV in the common area between the two bedrooms couldn't get any smaller. It sits in a cabinet that won't take a bigger set, so get rid of the cabinets and install a larger and better quality TV. The dining facility is pretty good, and food offerings on the menu are tasty and fairly priced for a golf lodge. The Courses: they offer three different courses, with their signature course being the Gailes. This course has degraded over the years to the point that it's almost no longer fun to play. The T-boxes, fairways and greens pretty much suck for upkeep and appearance. They for sure need more water and soil conditioning. There is one par 3 hole in particular that has an elevated T-box, and to get up to it, you have to "try" and climb some railroad tie type steps with grass in between to get to the top. They are crumbling, overgrown, out of alignment and just plain suck. They are DANGEROUS! A path to the side of these steps to avoid the steps is worn into the hillside, and it's slippery and equally as dangerous....no rails, ropes, etc. to hang onto. I've seen people fall and roll down. Management has been told of this, but it's the same every year when I get up there with a large group every year. Parking: when you walk from the parking lot down some steps to get to the cart area with your clubs slung over your shoulder, again, large wooden railroad type ties with patio stone between. The ties are falling apart, the stone is sinking, and because of that, there is an exposed lip of the wood that you could easily catch your foot on and send you tumbling down the steps. Dangerous! What once was a quality golf resort to go to has fallen victim to neglect. Our group only goes back yearly because of the fair pricing, but if it weren't for that, I wouldn't go back at all, and I only have one vote On a good note, the staff is very cordial; and accommodating, but then don't you expect that anyway when you go to a gold resort? The other two courses are also in need of much TLC.
