I selected a program that ran a little over $3000, including printing, editing (which I had to do, because they were too busy), artworrk for cover, website, introducing it at the LA Festival of Books, an agent and a publicist. The book finally got ready for printing, but I was not allowed to talk to anyone actually working on the book. There was confusion re: what I actually wanted on the cover, though I sent explicit information to the publisher, who apparently never got it to the illustrator, because he had me send it three times. The Festival is three weeks away and Greenberry Publishing Co. is suddenly not answering phones, extensions are no longer in service, etc. After finally getting to talk to the production manager and hearing his excuses, I told him that I had determined that you had to be inept to get a job there. I have not heard from them since.
