They were not wrong! I was fortunate enough to have Harvey Acosta for my written and CFC course. Harvey has a great skill of making topics you may not understand relatable to something you may know a lot about. Even though you wouldn't think those topics are relatable he finds a way to get through to every student. Harvey cares for his students and seems to always be available for his students needs. Harvey gives you the blueprint and it's up to you to put in the work. If you follow his plans you're over prepared for the test. For the practical course I had the Walt Disney / Johnny Carson of the practical exam world. Gary truly is the best in class when it comes to practical exam preparation. He can take a student with zero knowledge and help them understand the building systems in and out. He makes sure to engage every student during the class and holds them accountable. He invest his time to make sure you understand the systems, not how to take a test. If you put in the work and follow the program that Gary creates for you, you will be well prepared for the exam. Gary has been teaching this class for some time and his numbers speak for themselves. I would say his students have a 90-95 percent pass rate if the students put in the work. By the end of the course, I had a clear understanding of how the systems work inside and out. Gary breaks everything down in a way that is easy to grasp, even for complete beginners like me. Practicing the turner simulator and participating in the course fully will absolutely prepare you for the FDNY exam.
