I recommend against using this company. They are terrible. After years of letting their questionable service slide, I have reached a breaking point. They supposedly mowed my lawn yesterday, and i watched their guys do a little of it, but they left more than half unmowed - the side yard - and it looks like they didn't mow it last week either - the grass and weeds are very long. Also, last week, when we were having all the rain, they came and mowed parts, and in doing so their tractor damaged the pvc pipe that drains my sump pump. As a result of their damage, the sump pump was pumping the draining rainwater into a basement window well, and then that drained - a gushing waterfall - into my basement, flooding it. When I called Green Horizons to complain and to get someone to come out and explain this to me, I talked to Jordan, who refused to do anything about it. All he could say was "I'm sorry you feel that way." I am cancelling my contract with these guys and I would NOT recommend them to anyone. read more

I hired Green Horizons to clear my driveway and sidewalk for the 2021 -2022 snow season. The second time the plow showed up on Dec. 7th, 2021, the snowfall was substantial. The driver managed to drive off both sides of the driveway and got stuck. In both cases the truck managed to do significant damage to my sod before getting off the lawn. The only saving grace was the truck missed an irrigation sprinkler head by less than six inches. Green Horizons agreed to repair my lawn in the Spring. I foolishly expected missing sod to be replaced with new sod. In the Spring, a crew showed up, tossed some soil into the ruts, tossed some grass seed on the ruts and disappeared. The workers didn't even add mulch to the grass seed. Two weeks later, I properly reseeded the areas with the addition of mulch and eventually got acceptable grass. Last Fall, I paid the company about $220 to do overseeding in my side yard. Pretty much nothing came up. This Spring, I did it myself with seed and mulch and now have a reasonable amount of grass. The sidewalk was always carefully shoveled to Green Horizon's credit. This allows then to escape a one star rating. read more

The services themselves seem fine, but the lack of communication is unacceptable. I was told several times we'd get notified on the day of service. Not one single time have we been notified. A courtesy call, text, email.... Anything on the day of is all I'm asking. They just show up instead. Just excuses when I call up to ask about it too. There are endless comparable services that will do the same job, but with better communication. read more

Repeatedly difficult to deal with customer service. Last year there was a dispute over the time a crew was paid to work on the lawn and the amount of time they actually spent working. The was never resolved to my satisfaction. I let it go as a one time issue. This year there is another problem where the notes I specifically left on an order (start sprinkler before seeding) were disregarded and they sprinkler won't be started until 6 weeks after the seeding (seed will like have a significantly lower germination rate ... wasted money). The customer service person is also repeated rude/ snarky and won't work to resolve issues. I'm done with these guys. Overpriced, unfair, dishonest and rude. read more

I paid for the Fall Lawn Aerate and Overseed service for $336 but they didn't provide all the materials and did not do all the work. The contract stated "Whole lawn. Process includes mowing short, double aerate, premium seed, and organic topsoil dressing". First, they did not mow the lawn. It was over 5" tall. Their mowing service is $37 but I received a credit of about $29. Second, they claimed double aerate but only went over the lawn once. Finally, they claimed whole lawn topsoil dressing. If you Youtube This Old House for example, it should be at least 1/2" thick. They took a shovel and tossed ONE bag of topsoil over random spots on my lawn. I have multiple dead spots that were not treated. Prior to hiring them, I estimated it would cost at least $200 for enough topsoil to cover my lawn 1/2" thick. I thought their service was fairly priced. But it turned out I could have supplied what they provided for about $1 for a bag of topsoil from Home Depot. This is how they maximize profit. They charge you for the materials and work, but they short-change you. On another note, we hired them in the past to mow the lawn. They broke 2 broken irrigation valves. There's more than enough negative reviews and pictures here to indicate a pattern. read more

Never again!!! They have left a truck load of leaves in my yard for a week. I paid over $800 for a yard clean up. I've used these guys on and off for years to mow and do leaf clean ups. I don't know what changed, but I wouldn't recommend them. I called them 4 times. Each time they said the leaves would be picked up that day or the next. A week later and nothing resolved. read more

I retained Green Horizons for multiple years as have family members and the service has frequently been of disappointment. I always laughed if you want a cheap and terrible job to hire them, but did so out of what I thought was convenience. Specifically their snow service, they use unreliable/inaccurate data to determine snow totals (always less than what actually was the amount in a city), claiming multiple snow storms so they are under the 'required contracted amount' so they don't need to come out, and low quality removal - missing areas/driving over poles which mark the driveway and of course sprinklers. I am all for supporting small businesses and providing referrals but will be swiftly correcting my mistake next season after this last experience with them. read more

Green Horizons does a great job with both mowing and fertilizing. They coordinate the services on different days so they don't conflict with each other. The company sends emails and texts to remind/notify you they will be coming to your property. The mowers are really quick - usually here and gone in less than 20 minutes. Even though they're fast their mowing equipment doesn't tear up our lawn. (had that problem with our previous company). Their weed control products work very well. They even got rid of our thistles which I spent years trying to kill with store-bought products. They also put down grub control (extra cost) to keep the moles/voles out. I'd recommend them to anyone but, frankly, I'd rather not let too many people know about them. I don't want them to get too busy! read more

I am terrible at fertilizing my lawn. I start the season intending to do all the treatments and end up getting fertilizer down 1 or maybe 2 times a year if I am lucky. I hired them in 2022 for the 6 fertilizer treatment program. They did exactly what I hired them to do. They send a text in the morning on the day they are coming to spray the lawn. Lawn looks great, green grass and no weeds. Price was best I found. I plan to use them again in 2023. read more

Disappointed with this company. Prices jumped to almost double what they were last year. Was quoted $250 for fall lawn clean up in the spring then received an email days before service it was actually $691. Had I know that, wouldn't have booked the service and up kept the leaves myself. Leaves were left on the lawn destroying the grass, gates left open after service allowing my pets to get out. Overall will not be using this company again. read more

Unbelievably bad. At the recommendation of a realtor, we paid up front for snow removal. They send out emails to let you know they'll plow based on snow amount. Unfortunately the emails arrive well after you've had to dig yourself out of the snow. The snow plower arrives much later that that, usually in the middle of the night. The plow job they do is an absolute joke. I've taken pictures and sent to them complaining that every time they've come, we have had to finish their poor halfway job ourselves. Why pay a ridiculous amount of money and then have to remove the snow yourself?! I've asked them that in email sent with pictures of their poor job. Email seems to be the only way to contact them. I've never gotten them to answer a phone. Their reply was decidedly condescending, dismissive and flippant. Basically. Too bad. Have a nice day. One time they told me they'd come back and do it right. Then they emailed that they'd changed their mind and would not be coming to correct their horrible job. Unbelievable. They don't care. They got our money. They don't care if their service is horrible. I wish I could give them less than one star. The good reviews on here are highly suspect in my opinion. Paid these guys $326/visit (x2) to clean up my yard and haul away the leaves. They dumped half of the leaves in a small forested area in back of my property. The other half of the leaves they left on the curb in front of my house in a pile about 12 feet long and 3 feet high. The service was done on 11/5/20. Called them on 11/6 and asked when they would take the leaves. They said they are very busy and would try by the end of the day, or over the weekend. Asked them what I was supposed to do about the leaves being blown right back onto my property and into my neighbors yards? Their response, "You have paid for another visit for a fall cleanup, we can get them then." My response, "What about my neighbors yards?" Them, "Sir, we are very busy." They did not pick up the pile on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Called on Monday, said they were very sorry. Acted like they were scrambling, put me on hold. Came back from hold and said they 'should' get out to me today. Just called, they are closed. Pile still in front of the house. In fairness, they did this exact same thing to me last year and I paid them again. Fool me once, fool me twice. If you are the owner, please call me. We have spent considerable $'s with your company and our neighbors and friends also use you. read more

It really depends on who is working. We've hired them for snow removal, lawn mowing, and other yard services. This is the email I sent to the company: I am writing to express my unhappiness and disappointment with your fall clean up service, which was performed on Nov. 14, 2018. After examining the yard, I have noticed damage to the grass, large amounts of remaining leaves, branches, etc., and debris in the road from the pile of leaves that was left in my yard for almost two days. I can assume that one of the factors that led to this was the timing of the cleanup, which was at least 3 1/2 weeks later than usual. By the time of the clean up, snow and freezing temperatures had occurred leaving the ground vulnerable to damage and nearly impossible to clean up in a satisfactory way. I honestly think that a better decision would have been to skip the fall clean up and do it in the spring, and I would expect someone with professional knowledge to use better judgement to determine if clean up was appropriate. Now I'm left with a lawn that looks awful and is not adequately prepared for winter. I also wonder why the clean up occurred in mid-Nov. There were many days if not weeks when the leaves and lawn were dry and clean up could have been completed, yet no one showed up or even communicated. I had to contact you to see if clean up was going to happen, at all. Where was your customer service? Additionally, I prepaid for my service. This has left me feeling like I had very few options in which I could express my displeasure with your service. Although I thought prepaying for my service was convenient and resulted in a small savings, it gave you payment before service was rendered, which was a huge mistake. In fact, what money I saved will have to be spent and then some on lawn repair in the spring. As a result of your substandard performance, I ask that you do not perform a second clean up. Also, In the future I will be exploring other lawn care companies. I am also going on Yelp and posting this email as a review. By the way, it looks like others have had similar issues with your services. Finally, I am asking how your company will address this substandard service. The good: GH has done several jobs for me, including aerating, reseeding, topsoil application, fertilizing, etc. They've been reliable and easy to work with. The bad: Given the fact that I'm a repeat customer, and have used GH for many different things, one would expect a minimum standard for customer service and respect. Not so. Recently I signed up for but never received a couple of additional services I am a current customer (2017 fertilizing service) but yet you'd think I was some random dude they'd never worked with before (and BTW, I always pre-pay so they never have any issues with payment from me). The ugly: Tell me one thing, do another. Should be their motto. After expecting these services to be performed when THEY TOLD ME they would (2-3 days), I called a week later to find out what was going on. Then I'm lied to. Twice. Don't use GH. Sorry for the good people at GH, but if you take my money and don't reciprocate the expected level of service, I'll go elsewhere. And so should everyone else. read more

If you like paying a ton of money for nothing, this company is for you. I've been a customer of Green Horizons for 3 years, and this is the final year. Each year, their service has gotten progressively worse. I constantly have to call and ask them to redo their work. In the last year, they cleaned out my gutters and in the process left gutter junk all over my sidewalk, and the siding of my house and fence splashed in mud. This winter, I've paid a ridiculous sum to have my driveway plowed. They are usually so late I end up doing the work myself. When they do arrive, they do such a crummy job I'm left with an icy driveway, huge ruts in my yard, and a completely unshoveled path to my backdoor. Last year they dug up my grass when plowing. I asked them to come back and address the solid mass of ice on my driveway (after I put 100lbs of salt on it - it was that bad), and they told me I'd have to pay $114 for "deicing services", despite the issue being caused by their crummy plowing service. Terrible service. Do things right the first time, folks. Next year, I'll go with someone else. read more

I've used Green Horizon for several years now, and this year I am extremely disappointed. I always set up weekly mowings, well in advance of the season. Mowing was supposed to begin on the week of April 16th, and no one ever came to my house. Now it's the following week, and we've finally had some nice weather so the grass is growing and getting out of control, and still no one has come. I reached out via email over the weekend and was told someone would be coming to mow by Tuesday, so imagine my surprise when I arrive home to my tall grass still intact Tuesday evening. I called the customer support line and was told "I am the one who emailed you, that was a mistake. Someone will be there by the end of the week or the weekend". No apology, nothing. I was never even notified in the first place that my house was missed the first week of mowing, which is very unprofessional. I will never use Green Horizon after this season again, and will ensure no one I know uses them as well read more

I have used Green Horizons for snow removal and lawn mowing. Both services are of erratic quality at best. Mostly the snow removal is abysmal-poor quality 4 out of 5 times. I have had to clear snow left behind. I have notified their "customer service" numerous times about repeated issues (plowing snow over shrubs, not clearing the full width of the driveway and sidewalk etc). It seems to fall on deaf ears as nothing improves. I have given them as many chances to improve their services, and I am now done. I've been a customer of Green Horizons since 2011- both lawn and snow services. Their service has declined slowly over time to the point this winter that has passed unacceptable. Similar to other reviews, I have called after every snowfall this winter as they have completed less than half of the snow removal covered under our contract. I'm now looking at a narrow path that they have cleared on the sidewalk and the 40+ steps that I need to use to access my front door that remain snow covered after nearly 24 hours. Other than one return email, Customer Service has not returned messages or calls all season. My favorite moment when calling their outgoing message in their voicemail asking customers to let them know if all of the work was not complete and they would schedule the crew to come back to finish it. What?? ---- Update: It is Now 36 hours after the snow stopped. They still have not completed the job and appear to not be answering their office phone. read more
