My wife's mother passed away and we were so very fortunate to have Mullins funeral home taking care…read moreof all the arrangements. There were knowledgeable, accommodating and compassionate. Everything we needed during that difficult time. I was also expecting a high pressure sales environment and was on my guard for anything that seemed self serving (I'm suspicious and skeptical by nature). Our experience was the exact opposite of that expectation. From the basic planning to the extra arrangements we were dealt with more than fairly and even talked out of what I thought would have been easy (and not superfluous) upsale. In this age of large companies we all have become accustomed to giving up on customer service and personal attention to detail. Mullis Funeral home is one of those rare places that still prides itself on the customer's happiness and value. Im lucky to have had the experience that allowed me the opportunity to write this review.

My family is still reeling from the insensitive way Mullins handled our mom's burial today…read more The representative from Mullins rushed the entire thing as if he was late for an appointment. First, he asked us to follow the hearse in our car, then halfway through the ride, he blew a yellow light and kept going. At the cemetery it was rush, rush, rush. The final blow was, as I collected the other half of the funeral home's payment from my sister, the Mullins guy took my place as pallbearer and carried my mom to her grave without me. The other pallbearers protested, but he ignored them. We were in and out of the cemetery in about 20 minutes. This was as cold and uncaring an experience as I've ever had. My sister left in tears over it. And I was robbed of the experience of carrying my mom to her final resting place, all because the Mullins guy was late for lunch or something. My family will hurt for a long time because of it.

Given we wanted to have a service within 24 hours, which in our case landed on a Sunday, we ran into challenges but Jr. was able to find creative solutions and accommodate all our requests and needs. The team handled our situation as if it were their own family, and for situations like this, I think that's exactly what you want from a Funeral Home. I highly recommend Jr. and the rest of the team if you're in the search for a Funeral Home that cares about your specific situation and unique needs. Thank you Jr., Adrian and Bethany for all your support throughout the process and handling my family's situation as if it were your own.

Commerce Hill arrived within an hour and was extremely flexible in scheduling the planning the following day. David Dougiello was our mentor during the entire process and did an amazing job of accommodating our requests and taking care of every little detail. We were able to focus our entire energy on the family and helping each other grieve. David and the entire staff went above and beyond to explain everything, offered a no-pressure approach to making decisions that were best for our family, and took care of every little detail leading up to and including the funeral and burial. Thanks to everyone for the support. In that span of time, changes at the funeral home have been inevitable, but one thing that remains constant is how the staff delivers a professional, compassionate and unsurpassed level of service meant for royalty. Pam, Becky, Terese, and the rest of the staff attend to every detail and never fail to treat me like family. During my last ordeal, they wrapped around me with comfort and, in turn, made a devastating situation of the short-lived life of my son bearable. In fact, just knowing my son would initially arrive from out of state into Becky's blessed hands helped me in the earliest moments of our trauma. To this day, what also brings me great comfort is remembering how angelic and peaceful my son looked in an expertly and lovingly staged backdrop. I will always highly recommend this funeral home.

It wasn't done. 3) We requested to have the hearse ride past two homes that meant a great deal to Mom - and are a stone's throw from the cemetery. That wasn't done, either. There were other examples of half effort and lack of attention to detail. Overall, the level of service and care seems to have fallen far from where it used to be.

Unfortunately, this time it was my daughter…read more Her husband had wanted to use a service in another city, but my daughter (who was very much involved in the decision making prior to her passing) stated, "No, mommy was very happy with Lester Gee, so we're going to go with them." We did so, and I really got to see first-hand how kind and caring they are. Chris and an associate came to the house to pick up my daughter, and they were so patient as the family said their good-byes. They handled my baby with such care. Afterward, my son-in-law interacted with them and he is not the most knowledgeable person. Again, Chris was just so wonderful and patient. I cannot thank the Gees and their associates enough for their kindness. Knowing my daughter was in such good hands was comforting to the entire family. And they didn't try to overcharge us, or sell us things we didn't want. Although it is a business, they never treated us as if they were only interested in the bottom line. It may sound strange, but if I'm in Bridgeport when I pass, this is the place I want to handle my remains. Thank you so much, Lester Gee and company. My family and I really appreciate you.
