He was hired to fix the issue of water draining toward my garage. Add a new spot and Sealcoating the rest of the drive. The new addition is pitched toward the house. The original draining issue was not completed. He only leved 2 lower spots but did not fix it so the water drains away from my garage.. The seal on my garage needs to be replaced yes but me hiring him was to help with it draining toward the garage in the first place not make it just look new. He was told to take the grass and dirt he was taking out for the new spot away instead he piled it along the side of my house. He says he's coming to check it out today never came back meanwhile I saw him working on a house down the road. When I spoke to him in person he was very hostile and would keep interrupting me. Workers left concrete and water bottles in my yard I have many videos of me putting water on my driveway from a bucket and it going right to the garage. Today during the thunderstorm my garage was completely filled with water

Marty is a true handyman, and a really nice guy…read more We have an apartment that's...old. So it has a few things that always need fixing up. And I'll be honest, the handyman we usually work with was booked up for months. It actually seemed like all the handymen were. (There's a pandemic out there, and apparently everyone's taking the time to fix up their home.) Marty let me know that he was busy too, and that he was taking some time to spend with his family (and you can't begrudge someone being a good family man). But he was willing to do the work when he was free, which is all we could ask. I also appreciate how he operates. He'd prefer to get photos/video of what the problems were so he can give you an accurate estimate before even setting foot in the place (saves everyone time), and so he can show up with all the materials necessary (saves everyone time and money). His website is also pretty comprehensive; it lists all the things he does, who he is, how he works, and shows work he's done. That's how I found him, and I'm glad I did. I also like that he's willing to admit what he can't do (in our case, it was more involved electrical work). Some folks claim they can do anything, and will do a less than ideal job; Marty will just recommend someone who he's worked with and can vouch for. In any case, we had a few odd jobs that needed doing, and once Marty let me know when he was available, he was on time, and efficient. He did quality work. I thought the pricing was fair for his time and labor, and I would hire him again. That's really all you can ask from a handyman.

I was pleased to learn about Marty and HV Handyman from a Yelp review, and even more pleased that the review was written by someone from Yelp I actually know in person. Marty is professional yet casual, a nice combination. He was always quick to get back to me when I contacted him in advance of the work, always in less than 24 hours. When I initially sent him a description of the work and a photo, he got back right away with his estimates of time and materials, and cost. Along the way, he was proactive when it came to things unexpected or little adds. For example, he discovered rodent damage on some of my electrical wires, and he immediately offered to take care of that. Within an hour, he had gone and returned to the local Home Depot with the extra materials to address the issue, and the add-in to the overall cost was again reasonable. He did 99% of the cleanup as well, leaving me with about 5 minutes of work to wipe off some dust after he completed the spackling, sanding, and painting. Marty also doesn't over-book, and he is again up front with what he can and cannot do. I've already discussed another project or two I'd like him to tackle once warmer weather has returned. I only hope he hasn't been swamped with additional work requests based on positive word-of-mouth and word-of-Yelp.

They said to me that I should come and sign another contract with them with another payment because the money we bargain initially was not enough. This was after five months into the renovation. I was paying double mortgages at my old place because I could not move in my new house. I was commuting 3 hours everyday to take my children to school because I had registered them for school there in the new district. I will definitely not recommend this company to anyone. I think they are fraud and they do not know what they are doing. I hope people learn from my mistakes.
