I love Green Drop. I've donated many gently used household items here, and all donations support the American Red Cross. The process is simple: I pull my car up to the designated area, and the workers help me unload the boxes. Once, they noticed a box in my trunk and asked if it was part of the donation. Green Drop is a great place to donate any household items that you don't want but that are still in good condition. I've never needed to make an appointment. I drive over at my convenience and the helpful folks who work here unload my donations from my car. It is easy. I've donated clothes, shoes, tvs, toys, utensils, costume jewelry, sports equipment, decorative collectibles, computer accessories, speakers, cds, luggage, handbags, and hats. I think the only thing they ever did not accept was my very old microwave. FYI: This is not a store like Goodwill. You can't buy anything here. It's a garage with a small parking lot. read more

It's convenient and for a good cause. They unload your car and then pull up your accoun on an iPad.. They are supposed to ask what charity do you want to support. My last visit on 10/14 a heavy set lazy man waddled to my car. He was sitting in a chair bumping house music. It felt like I was pulling up to somebody's back yard. Then he let the damn bin roll into my car door. He could not even stand straight up. Finally he asks if I wanted a receipt. I said no but yes I did. I hate when pol are lazy and won't do the extra step of creating a receipt so they ask if you want it knowing many ppl just wave it off. Horrible. As soon as you pull your car in, you are met at your vehicle with friendly faces ready to take in your donation. You don't even have to get out of your car, just drive off, easy peasy. Super friendly people. You can sign up or get a receipt for your donation. I didn't want a receipt because my donation was very small. But they were appreciative, nonetheless. read more

GreenDrop is an awesome place in Metuchen to bring any of your lightly used items that you no longer want. I am all about not wasting perfectly good clothing, toys, books, etc and GreenDrop takes pretty much anything as long as you bring it in some kind of container (a cardboard box or plastic bag is fine). The people are always friendly and helpful, if you sign up (quick process) you will receive receipts for tax write offs. You can also just drop off your stuff without signing up, you just won't be able to get a receipt. They work with about 4-5 charities and you choose what the money from your items goes to. This has been a lifesaver, especially for my books. I had such a hard time finding a place to bring my old books (including the local libraries!)) so when I heard about GreenDrop it was a huge relief. 5/5 read more

Great place to drop off used but good condition items to help a charity and de clutter your place. Do note their opening hours and they prefer you to back in to their loading lane. If you want a receipt, do let them know. A few guys here are pretty easy going, but you can easily spot the lazy ones too. The parking area is tight and right at the corner intersection so drive slow and be careful. Greendrop shares the area with a mechanic shop. Add in impatient drivers and that's a recipe for disaster. read more

Scheduled a pick up a week in advance. They sent a reminder email. Took my 7 bags out to the driveway at 6 pm the night before. By the time I got home the next day, they were picked up. Would highly recommend!!! Very organized. read more

So poorly managed and the Parking lot is a nightmare. I pulled in and had to go all the way around the automotive store, wait and then someone takes my spot, so I try to pull up to turn around and get stuck. the staff approach me, yell at me, and won't take my ONE BAG that I didn't need receipt for because of all the people in the spots and wanted me to come back in 20 minutes when I was already stuck in that spot, had my spot taken by someone, and I just wanted to get rid of the bag and go home. Like literally they wouldn't take the one bag and I had to do a K turn and leave their parking lot, it was insane and rude and so terribly managed that it ruined my day and obviously I did not come back in 20 minutes. Open up the right side of the building parking for all the traffic this place gets, don't turn away free donations because your staff can't act responsively to the incoming people. Or maybe put cones where you don't want people to pull in?? Or get a donation box if you're going to need 20 minutes to unpack 1 spot?? Terribly rude staff and awful experience. Don't yell at people making donations because your parking lot layout is a catastrophe. read more

Scheduled a pick up and gave them detailed instructions. Found out that they drove by and said they didn't see any items. They did schedule a pick up the next week, however, we had to bring everything in and then bring the items back out again, the following week. They come in the truck and the seat is high in said truck. How they could not see the items is impossible. read more

I went this place three times. The first time, a friendly young man asked what charity I prefer to donate and my email to send receipt ( I never got the receipt.) The second time, while parking the same spot at the first time, 2 men asked us to back in the entrance of their warehouse, which maybe 10 feet from the parking. My husband backed the car. And I told them no receipt wanted. The third time, an employee and a lady were chatting by the entrance, and the 2 spots facing the warehouse was full. Since I was not good at backing the car, I parked the same spot as the first time. I thought that I could put the bags close the entrance. A young man, who I met the second time, said to me that I could not leave the bags on ground. I waited a little while. When one car drove away, I parked that spot. Then the young man got to my car, asked how many bags. I answered, those two, and that one and another. Ho got angry with me. "I asked how many, you told me two, then three, then four. I had three and could not take one more. You need to take it." So I took the last bag, followed the man half of my age. He went to the selves and told me to put the bag on GROUND. "Is it OK to put it on ground?", I asked. He said firmly, "OK!" Why a young employee was so rude to a person, who drove 30 minutes to donate stuff? read more

Customer service is excellent - courteous and fast. One person comes over with a bin and takes out the donations from your car and another takes down your information. You don't have to get out of the car. I had 7 big bags - all done in less than 5 minutes. And I instantly got receipt via email. The people are professional and nice. I also like that you can choose which nonprofit to donate to. read more

This donation is different, it's a central location to donate a variety of items. When you arrive you choose from well known respected organizations. I was greeted by a friendly and helpful young man. I had 17 bags of clothing, that was collected into a wheeled container. This place is not known enough and needs to be promoted.
