I'm sharing my experience as the owner of Deck Impact, a subcontractor that performed deck work for Humberto Garces and Green Construction. Homeowners and subcontractors considering this company should know how our payment was handled.
We completed a deck project in Rockville, Maryland, addressed the requested corrections, and passed the final inspection on August 15, 2025. More than a year later, an outstanding balance remains unpaid.
I repeatedly contacted Humberto and his team. I went to their Washington, DC office on the days they instructed me to collect a check, only to be left waiting outside without a response or payment. This was followed by further delays and requests for patience.
Humberto initially disputed part of our invoice. In response, I explained the charges, offered to reduce the remaining balance to $2,845, and offered to accept payment in two or three installments. Those offers are documented in the attached messages.
He confirmed receiving the updated invoice and said he would process it the following week, with someone from his team contacting me on Monday or Tuesday regarding payment. That did not happen. He later asked for more days and, in another message, said he was waiting to receive funds to cover obligations, including ours. Despite repeated requests, I still did not receive payment or a firm payment date.
In his messages, Humberto emphasizes his reputation and values and says people who work with him do not have payment problems. He also explicitly acknowledges that we performed the work and that money is owed. Unfortunately, his assurances have not resulted in payment, and my latest follow-ups have gone unanswered.
I originally met Humberto through classes where small-business owners were learning and growing together. More recently, at a small-business networking event, he told me we would work out the payment. It is deeply disappointing to have trusted that relationship, completed the work, offered a reduced balance and payment flexibility, and still be pursuing payment more than a year later.
Whether you are a homeowner considering hiring Green Construction or a subcontractor considering working with them, please consider this experience and review the attached messages. Based on the repeated unfulfilled payment assurances and unresolved balance, I cannot recommend Humberto Garces or Green Construction.
I remain willing to resolve the outstanding balance and will update this review to reflect any payment received. read more
