Took my 2 dogs here to get their shots updated and their heartworm medication refilled. Cost me nearly $500. I almost fell over when I saw the invoice. It was all itemized and made sense but ooooooof, that's A LOT of money!!!! Not sure that we'll be back. May have to shop around for a better price... I miss Planned Pethood, a low-cost vet clinic in Denver. Does Buffalo even have low-cost vet clinics? Even my regular vet there never charged me as much as I paid at Afton for shots for both dogs. Regardless, nice ambiance and friendly staff... but mama's wallet wept after paying that bill!

It has been a long time since I have been in to see Dr. Kuhn, but he is a very compationate Vet…read more and he and his staff are so loving to my animal. Gizmo is not just a pet, but helps me get through major panic attacks and helps sooth my PTSD. He is also a beloved family member. So his care is very important to us! We discovered Dr. Kuhn at Afton clinic when we got Gizmo at the Eastern Hills ASPCA. He bonded with us immediately and he was so tiny. Just the lonely runt of the litter that was ignored by his brothers and sisters. We brought the whole litter out to play with and he melted our hearts and changed our lives in all the best ways, so his medical care was very important. When you get a rescue pet at this SPCA, they include first physical into the cost of the animal cost and Afton was on the list. Gizmo is a very easy going and a loving animal and won the staff over immediately. They gave him a full work up and the Vet And the vet tech came out to have a chat about him and was very thorough. We scheduled a yearly for him and when we came back for his first year visit it was a little over $100 for vaccines and full exam. Not too bad. Then he got very sick. We took him on vacation and he stayed in our hotel and we brought tons of toys and beds from home along with boxed litter pan and his normal food. The long trip home stressed him out very badly and his immune system was compromised, leading to a severe bladder infection. He had problems dribbling urine and it was orange. I was so scared we wouldn't be able to help him, as there was so much at stake to keep him alive and it was quite costly. We took him in and they kept him for three days and Dr. Kuhn or a vet tech called us daily to keep us updated. Once they got a three day IV antibiotic in him and checked his bladder to make sure it emptied they said he was good to go home. I remember being in tears because we didn't have that much money and I was afraid they wouldn't release him to us because of lack of funds. Then it happened. Dr. Kuhn signed us up for a pet vet low income assist program and this generous program paid a huge chunk ( over $200) and we were able to get the rest allowing us to get him the meds he needed to survive. The compassion for our family and our cat was overwhelming. It took a week and a half of keeping him in the livingroom with puppy pads and continue to encourage using the litter box, but he made a full recovery and is a happy, big ole' snuggle bug. We just got quoted $120 for all vaccines and exam. I got quoted $250 at another vets office. Yikes! Also, I really want to stress that this animal clinic is so helpful and compassionate. I have called a lot over the years and Dr. Kuhn and staff have called personally and discussed my concerns and given me tips to help my cat over the years. He is 4 years old now and it is comforting to know we have a vet that cares so much for all the animals. Give them a shot. I think it's worth it!

First let…read moreme say they had an opening the next day which practically unheard of based off of all of the places I've called. So if you're looking for care for your little fur friend like me you're in luck ! The receptionist was incredibly helpful with me setting up this appointment and the tons of questions that I had. So this animal hospital similar to several others in the area are doing curbside service. I pulled up gave them a call and someone came right out to meet me without any issues. The took all of the necessary paper work took the pip inside for the examination and the shots. The doctor came out to explain his findings from the examination and answer any questions that I had. Brought her back outside and it was no issues. Special shoutout to Erica and Julie they were truly amazing as well. Overall great experience and can't wait to get back. Slight cons: The parking lot is super tiny. They seemed a bit expensive when I compared with a few other places. And when it came to the price breakdown or any of that information it wasn't much communication. However, I recognize how that could be slightly limited due to the transactional nature of curbside service. Anyways I'll be back for sure.

Long-time client. Lost my cat today. Read this before you need them in a crisis…read more We've trusted Brighton-Eggert with a dog and three cats for years. The doctors are genuinely excellent -- no complaints there. But when my cat was actively dying and I desperately needed an appointment, they had nothing and sent me to urgent care or emergency care. The urgent care vet was limited in what he could do without my cat's full medical history and test results. Only Brighton-Eggert had it. Comprehensive blood work for the last few years, every 4-6 months. And also the result of the echocardiogram. When your fur baby is dying, you need compassion -- and that's exactly what was missing. A truly compassionate practice shows up for you in the worst moments. This wasn't that. The problems don't stop there. They've also stopped sending prescriptions to third-party pharmacies, a move that forces you to use their in-house pharmacy. They're not in the business of putting your pet first; they're in the business of protecting their revenue streams. Other reviews tell the same story: great vets, but a lack of compassion when you truly need them. If your pet is healthy, they're fine. But if you're facing a crisis, you may find that the compassion and continuity of care you're paying premium prices for simply isn't there. Premium pricing should come with premium support, at least compassionate support, when it matters most. It didn't for us. The doctors are genuinely excellent. But management has lost its way. Read the owner's responses to negative reviews and judge for yourself. We gave them our loyalty and our money without hesitation. What we needed in return was compassion. We didn't get it.
