But there is one exceptional thing that happened. Their breakfast staff, specifically a big shout out to Toni, is fantastic. She didn't miss a single person. That's a great customer experience. 5 stars for Toni

Check in/check out was fairly easy, depending on why you're staying in the area, the location is…read moregreat since the hotel is just right off the freeway, next to fast food, gas stations, and ikea. The rooms were clean and average upon arrival, and the swimming pool looked well maintained with towels on each seat. The HVAC system was a bit tricky since the rooms uses those old systems that you would find at older hotels so it's also noisy. It took me a while to find/set a comfortable temp in the room. Because of this, I woke up and my throat and sinuses were super dry. Water pressure in the shower fluctuated constantly and the handle felt like it was going to fall off. Walls are thin so you can hear people walking, talking, getting on and off the elevators, etc The highlight of staying here is the continental breakfast. They have everything you would want/need to have something quick and be on your way. I do appreciate the staff working that area, keeping everything stocked, clean and continuing to ask if I needed anything to just ask. They have a waffle making station which was the added bonus. Coffee was hot, fruit, eggs, sausage patties, bagels, cereal and some pastries were all offered.

It was an alright stay. It's in west sactown. About a 4 minute drive from the bridge and where old Sacramento is. And about 15 minutes from Capitol building. Check in was smooth. You walk in and immediately there's the breakfast area with complimentary coffee and tea available 24/7. And there's the check in / out desk. Usually one or two people are there depending on the time of day. I was taken care of in less than five minutes. Elevators are to the right of the desk. As well as the workout room which has three treadmills, an elliptical and dumbbells which ranged from 10 pounds to 75. It shares the same space with the laundry facilities. The room was a mini suite. It has a sink, microwave and plates etc. across from the kitchen nook was the bathroom. Comes with shampoo, conditioner and soap. It's a standing shower. Then there's a love seat, a great floor to ceiling mirror, and a bed with three pillows. There a tv and an iron (didn't see an ironing board). The bed was a little softer than I prefer. I like a medium firm bed. Pillows weren't the greatest. Soft as well. I was on the 4th floor and it was super quiet which is a plus.

I know they charge for parking so I let the front desk know and the staffer said they would move their car and I could take their space. Even though we were on the ground floor, the room was nice and quiet. A good sized kitchen was available but we did not use it. Breakfast on a Sunday morning was busy (some girls soccer team was staying), but the food was solid. It took a bit to figure out where things were at but I was able to make a waffle and have some eggs and sausage patties. This area is not the greatest, but I was not planning on walking around anyway. If you are going to a baseball game, Old Sac or Midtown (that is where we were), then this hotel is the right combo of convenience and cost.

We chose to get the room since we were going to a concert and didn't want to drive home late and wanted a good nights rest. Unfortunately it was the complete opposite. We have stayed in other hotels were the AC is not ideal, in fact a month ago we stayed at another IHG and the AC did not work properly but it didn't compare to this AC. This AC mad a constant noise the entire time it ran. When it reached the desired temperature it would make a burst of air to release. We didn't get back to the hotel Room after our concert until it was too late to complain and request a new room. We were up all night from the noise and the room was way too hot to go without it. We were suppose to check out the next morning at 11am but for some reason at 9am we had housekeeping knocking 4 times until we woke up Rommel the door and tell them we were not ready. From my experience they should have access do when and if we checked out. We spoke to the employee on staff the next morning and while he was polite he wanted to give us points to try to Make the situation better. While we use IHG frequency we do not have enough to have points be a benefit to us. He spoke to his manager and the only thing they offered was $30 off. This is such an insult. We were up all night and it ruined our next day plans as we intended to spend the day exploring in Sacramento but are so tired we just went straight home. While things happen I feel like when we checked in there could have been a delay in the room due to the known ac problem. There is no way it's not been something they knew about. The hallway heat is so hot that I'm sure cleaning staff use the ac in the room to clean it so they had to have known from them or the past guest how bad it was. To top it off there were multiple events this weekend and they raised the prices for last night. We paid a lot for a miserable night. Things happen but this place does not like to make things right or care about their

However, there were a few unexpected issues that were disappointing, especially after reading so many positive reviews. A couple of the face towels in the bathroom had a noticeable mildew smell, which was unpleasant. In addition, the air conditioner was extremely loud throughout the night. It repeatedly turned on around 1:00 a.m., 2:00 a.m., 3:00 a.m., and 4:00 a.m., making it difficult to get a good night's sleep. I hope management will address these issues, as they would make a big difference in the overall guest experience. Our room didn't end up being ready until 4:15. Besides that ridiculousness we had a great stay. I'm a big fan of The Embassy Suites product overall. Being a family of five it works out great. You can't beat the bigger room, free breakfast, free happy hour, and indoor pool/hot tub. Location is great right by the river. Very convenient to Old Town Sacramento, Downtown Sacramento, and right acroos the bridge from Sutter Health Park. It was indoor along with the pool. Due to timing didn't get to take advantage of the free happy hour. Enjoyed the free breakfast in the morning. Many hot and cold items as well as made to ordet omelets which is amazing. I enjoyed my omelet. Will continue to stay at Embassy Suites Properties. They definitely need to make sure rooms are ready in a timely fashion.

The Gujarati Hindu proprietor remembered me from my last visit including personal information I had shared on my first visit. His friendly, personal touch made me feel welcome and appreciated as a customer. Sometimes Indian proprietors can come across as distant or a bit cold, but this is a cultural difference between Hindus and Americans. We Americans are socialized to be everyone's friend instantly for five minutes. Hindus, however, are socialized to be careful whom they befriend, and they tend to be a bit standoffish at first. Once they know you, it's a different matter entirely, and then they can become friends for life. The motel offers few amenities, but the rooms are clean and include a microwave and refrigerator. Be sure to plug in the refrigerator right away if you want to freeze ice or keep beverages cold. Per "Hotel Impossible" I'd recommend ditching the old-fashioned, unsanitary bed covers in favor of a simple open bed. Free WiFi and parking are nice, but a coffee maker to heat water for coffee or tea would be a welcome addition that wouldn't be too costly to add.

We stayed in the Happiness Loft, which was cute and unique. The pictures do note that it's not ideal for tall guests, and that's true -- the ceilings are quite low, but it worked fine for us. The highlight of our stay was definitely the spa. I had one of the best massages of my life, and the couples massage experience was wonderful. That said, it was on the pricey side, as was the room rate, though the charm of the property sets it apart from many other Sacramento options we looked at. Breakfast was good, but at $30 per person, it didn't feel like the best value compared to other places we've stayed. The biggest downside for us was the location -- while the hotel itself is lovely, the surrounding neighborhood didn't feel like a place where we could walk around and explore, so we found ourselves driving elsewhere for dinner and activities. Parking was also limited. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and are glad we experienced it. The service, cleanliness, and spa treatments are excellent, but for the price point, I'd likely explore other options next time. For us, this felt like a solid three-star experience.
