He was still very weak, to the point that someone had to be with him to make sure he ate and was giving water. He could not lift his arms at all. I visited with him on a Wednesday evening and was assured by the staff that he would be checked on every 15 minutes, so I went home for some much needed sleep. Fast forward 9 hrs, I get a phone call that said he had been found UNRESPONSIVE WITH THE BLANKET OVER HIS HEAD. I get to the hospital and when I spoke to the doctor, he stated that he had stopped life saving measures as soon as the paramedics brought dad in. Rigor had already set in. There is no possible way that dad could have, or would have, thrown that blanket over his head. He was to weak and was extremely claustrophobic. He wouldn't even close the restroom door! Don't put your loved one in this place, unless you can stay with them.

We were in crucial need of extra care for our dad while he was in hospice, then for our mom, as she went through the grieving process after he passed, then for her as she entered hospice. From the minute I spoke to Stacey on the phone, I was confident that her staff could provide what we needed. She was kind, asked all the questions that I would have never of thought about, and her condo demeanor put me at ease. During this whirlwind time, we went from eight hour shifts just for companionship for our mom to 24 hour care, with two aides working around the clock in 12 hour shifts. I can't express how exemplary Stacey and her team are. Throughout both of these back-to-back ordeals, Stacey checked in on us, the aides would text or call, and the report to notes that they provided gave us greater inside as to what was happening since we don't live in the same state. After our mom passed, Stacey would text to check up on us and see how we were doing. You just don't find this level of kindness and compassion these days. We also need to shout out an exceptional employee, Willow. Willow was our mother's primary caretaker and her love and care for our mom made all of the difference with our mom's illness and passing. Knowing Willow was our mom's caretaker put us at ease and because we knew she was getting exceptional care up until her last breath. Willow is a gem and has that special gift to connect with people, especially the elderly. She provides exceptional care within integrity, dignity, and compassion. We will forever remember Willow and Stacey, and we are indebted for how they helped us navigate unfathomable loss. We cannot recommend them highly enough to care for your loved one. It's a beautiful 2 bed 2 bath unit that was beautifully crafted for her. She also has a neat back door to the common area where she can have her dog roam and neighbors sit and gossip. We headed back to Athens this year and this venue has a little unit that can be rented out. Of course I want to stay here! The room itself is perfect for a couple. There's a nice sized bathroom, a comfy queen bed and a mini fridge for left overs/drinks. The staff here is so cordial and friendly. I have yet to run into a rude person. I have met servers, maintenance staff and nurses. They are all so nice! With it being a retirement community, it's nice to know that my cousin is in great hands. We have heard too many horror stories about retirement communities but this is nothing like that. This place is well maintained, beautifully decorated, spacious and open. I love the outdoor area where everyone meets and hangs out. The dining area is nice and provides great food. There's a pool and a zen garden. With all these amenities I don't want to leave. I'm happy I got to experience what my cousin experiences living here. Presbyterian Village is the place to be.

Hospice should be promoted more in the media. They treated my mother and all the other guests like family. Whenever I stopped by, the guests were always comfortable and well cared for. This place is phenomenal…read more I am so emotional after my business meeting there today that I almost can't take it. My grandmother didn't have that much dementia, but the place where we "placed" her was not nearly as wonderful as this Emeritus location. I think she would have been a great candidate for one of their "wings" - if only she had lived here and not in Rome, maybe we could have had her there. Here's the deal - Emeritus has 11 metro-Atlanta facilities, four that are dementia-specific, so to speak, and over 400 locations nationwide. From meeting with one of the key folks today, and meeting other staff and directors, it is clear that they are committed to the very best in patient care and treatment. Each resident has a nameplate on the door, and a photo/collage type thing next to their door with whatever they feel portrays them best- family pics, notes, etc. Even better, the four "sections" of the facility are decorated like....things that make you happy! My favorite was the "beach" themed room- and the hair salon! In one corner of a wing, they even have an old-fashioned mirror/dressing table and vintage dresses next to it. Wow. Beyond the aesthetics, it was clear that the staff really cares, and that anyone whom I love would be well tended to at this place...I witnessed staffers calling everyone they saw by name, carefully tending to the sofas in the lounge area, checking on people in their rooms or in the common dining area or group activity area. Really, it was - overwhelming. Bob Carr and staff do an incredible job, it seems - if I get totally *out there* one day, for whatever reason, this is the kind of place I would want to be.

Both Joe and Allis welcomed us and spent a great deal of time sharing their vision and commitment to their residents. We brought mom back for a visit and she immediately fell in love with them and the facility. Their warm and caring personalities made mom feel very secure and they immediately became friends. When move in day came, mom was anxious but at ease with how smoothly it went. She settled in almost immediately. Both Joe and Allis are exceptional people who care deeply for their residents. As mom began to have physical difficulties, they knew what to do and how to respond to every need. Mom often said how secure she felt and how much she loved being there. Our family was extremely pleased with everything that they did for mom. Even when nobody was around my grandmother would tell us how much she loved the people there and she felt like this is where she belonged. On the day we had to say goodbye to my grandmother the owners and staff were not only there for my grandmother but for us the family as well. One of the assistants made a point to tell us she loved her and to make sure we knew her favorite song. That spoke volumes to me about the personal relationship my grandmother had with them. This home and the people that run it felt more like family than a business. I will always be grateful for them.
