I've done parts of the Great North Walk a few times and I can luckily say I've lived through it to tell the tales.
Maybe it's just me but everytime I've walked it, whether on my own or with a group of friends, I've always ended up somewhere else to where I've expected. To put it bluntly I've got lost!
There's a few entry (and exit!) points and there are foot paths and signs through out to direct you to you're destination and it's quite nice to be on a bush walk in the suburbs of Sydney but when you take a wrong turn, forget which path you came down and there is no phone reception it can become a bit.. interesting.
I've really enjoyed the walks each time I've done them and it's very peaceful and tranquil in there but if you end up in a sitation like I've found myself a couple of times, take a bit of food and drinks to get you through and take a couple of bucks so you can get a train home back to your original destination! read more
