Emily was absolutely incredible! She was such a pleasure to be around, listened to what I wanted, executed my requests like a boss, and was very professional and accommodating. I have super curly hair and requested a cut out of the norm, she was happy to oblige and did a fantastic job! Her personality was warm and made me feel at home. I was very clear about wanting an ash or cool blonde. Initially the first "reveal" of color showed a greeny-pinkish disaster and Sara said that it would be better "next time" and was willing to let me leave like that. This was the first issue. I couldn't leave like that, so she re-bleached my hair and put on a toner again. I left with strawberry blonde hair with orange ends that she said could not be colored. That visit cost $230. Sara told me she gave me a discount because she had initially left the toner on too long. I cancelled my subsequent appointment because I was not thrilled with the whole experience. I went elsewhere and they gave me the ash blonde I wanted including the ends with no problem. Atomic was really good about following up and wanting to know why I had cancelled with Sara as I had expressed to the receptionist my dismay at paying so much for a service that was in no way satisfactory. They said I had a free cut and color waiting there as a compensation. I didn't ask for this complimentary treat, but four days ago I decided to go in and I asked for Sara so there would be no hard feelings. Mistake! Even as I went to sit in the chair I asked her if it was okay and she just deadpanned back, are you okay? I was in and out in 17 minutes. She didn't wash my hair or offer to condition it. She offered no beverage. She told me my hair was too damaged to color and basically made me feel like total crap. She said she wouldn't touch my hair and would refer me to a colleague. At one point she held up a piece of my hair and rolled her eyes. Just so immature! This was supposed to be a level 3 highly professional colorist. I felt like I was in a bad sit com. As I'm leaving she asked "do you want to buy product?" and even that was so unprofessional, instead of offering to take me through what might have helped re-condition my hair, she just said it in a flat and completely unpleasant way. I went in today and met Emily who was very sweet. She said she would color my hair, but only if I got another cut (she charges $58) and a $20 hair treatment. She would consult with Sara but thought the color would be complimentary. The whole thing left me feeling I'd been given the runaround. I cancelled with Emily, just because this salon made a treat turn into something very different. It's a pretty salon and it's staffed with tons of stylists, and has a great reputation! I feel I got paired with the wrong person, one who lacked professionalism and maturity and spoiled what was a good experience for my daughter and also could have been for me. There are limited options for a higher end salon in Ladner and Tsawwassen but I would rather drive downtown than go through this again. So disappointed.

It is also not the most hygienic-looking. SERVICE Suzie is very kind and she made friendly small talk with me throughout the entire process. She listened to my requests and seemed to be very knowledgeable regarding hair styling. PROCESS I asked for a cut and ombre colour and brought pictures with me to show Suzie. She cut it shorter than I specified and a bit roughly, but it still matched the picture. The colour is what made me take off most of the points as I stated over and over that I wanted a very natural medium brown ombre (meaning I wanted my naturally black hair to gradate into brown). I also mentioned many times that I did not want it to look dip-dyed; however, that is exactly how it came out. My hair ended up looking like half of it had been submerged into brown, it wasn't natural-looking at all. While it was somewhat passable as ombre, I am extremely picky with my hair and left the salon discontented. Suzie did ask me to call her in the week after my appointment if I had complaints, but I decided not to go back as I had explicitly asked many times for a natural ombre and what I got was not even close. I did not want to risk another botched colour job. However, the cut was perfectly fine - nothing to call home about, but I asked for a simple cut so I was happy with it. PRICE The cut and colour came to a total of $60, which is extremely cheap but, in my opinion, is not worth it. I went to another salon to fix it at a significantly higher price, but I left much happier. WOULD I RECOMMEND Yes for the cut and maybe if you aren't wanting a very complicated colour job such as ombre or balayage. The prices are extremely reasonable, so I may go back for cuts only.

They were so kind (and I'm guessing it was the manager) that they agreed to take me in on such a busy day. Parking was going to be waaaay better than dt. Charmaine was lovely. She spent about an hour and agreed to add some curl to my wavy hair that usually looks frizzy when I do it. Nakry was equally as great, and I felt really lucky to have had both of them style it. Today, my hair is still bouncing with curl and is neither sticky nor stiff. As with all "finds" I was reluctant to write this, except that they were so incredibly wonderful. My stylist was a former Suki's member, which happened to be my former salon. Next time I need my hair cut/coloured, I'm going to give this place a chance. It's classy and the stylists are all nice and cordial. They really made my day! Total cost $48 dollars with over a 20% tip and included a $20 conditioning treatment and scalp massage. So if any man happens to be reading this...now you know why we women expect you to pay for us on a date if we get "dolled" up. (unlike other places where they either refute that they are issues and/or decide to not listen) For any other east asian haired ladies, this is usually what I tell my hairdresser (YES, I'm SO low maintenance that I'm actually high maintenance when it comes to a salon- but if i'm paying good money and you are trained well I expect you to listen and do what I say***): -I cut my hair once a year and it NEEDS to grow out well. -I DON'T OWN a comb, conditioner, hair products. I'm strictly a shampoo everyday, airdry and leave the house kinda girl. Styling involves me running my fingers through my hair and sayin, "that's about right.." -If you use a stright iron on my STRAIGHT ASIAN HAIR I will hurt you. -I don't do razors. Just say no if you're even thinking it. C'mon, just use scissors. -I want to avoid altogether the "frizzy triangle" (you know what I'm talkin about) -And I need them to thin out my hair and get as much volume at the crown of my head as possible because I have thick hair, and a lot of it, that easily falls flat at the end of the day (which also coincides with the "frizz triangle") Karen listened and gave me a pretty sweet cut. she double checked with me to see if using conditioner and product was ok with me and she did a really quality job ensuring it looked like how I wanted it. I ended up with some sort of rocker chick, ultra layered, BIG do. Think borderline elvira/ shape of a Q-tip. Haha, I know that isn't the nicest description but it is basically the exact shape I wanted because I will tell you- there IS no such thing as flat or frizzy-triangle with THIS cut. which is EXACTLY what I wanted. My sister got a really clean cut bob- which is also what she wanted. I forget the name of her stylist but she was super cute. Oh, and the shampoo boy (josh?) does a pretty good head massage even though I avoid touching at all costs. (he styles too at cost b/c he's training I think) highly reccommend Karen as a stylist.
