My mother went to the Great Clips in Pembroke Center a couple days ago and was really troubled that the stylist didn't say one word to her the entire time she was cutting her hair. not. one. word. read more

I walk in and say I have a coupon for new customer $2 off and a senior $2 off. How would that work? Can I use both? Your all set. Umm what does that mean but ok. My hair was very long and grown out. I point to desired length and asked that the hair be blended to that length with long layers. Stylist asked what about the sides, umm, cut at an angle. Ok. So, to my shock she opens her scissors and starts scissor blade hacking at my hair. Like a razor cut. Who does that without being requested or at least asked. To be polite, I said does Great Clips have a specific way of cutting. Thinking it was their style. Nope. She said it was whatever she wanted. She did not get the hint. So, I tried another approach and said I don't want to ask for my hair to be shorter when you done. Stylist it doesn't matter I am just starting, and I will be blending in .... and she did she cut my hair over and over and at one point she said it will be like a mullet ... WHAT! I ask her a couple of questions and she said (are you ready) that she was not licensed to EDUCATE so she could not answer. I couldn't believe it. Should I leave? My hair was such a mess. More scissor as razor cutting, can you see the frizz. Then she switched to chipping in. I happen to like a little chipping but further up on the strand. So, I asked could you chip closer to the root. CLOSER she said no because then your cutting hair. Yup that's the idea. Apparently, she wasn't educated in the word 'closer' and chipping is not hunks of hair. So, as I explained she spoke over me and said see there is a communication problem because I do not understand her. Sure. Sounds like these issues and excuses are common for this person. Ok one more. I asked her what color would you say my hair is, it faded out after being colored. She said she is not a licensed colorist and won't know. I could not help it I chuckled. I thought she was kidding. I said come on. Maybe she missed colors in early elementary school. O I wanted long layers, halfway through and really thinking of calling it and leaving, I reminded her of the long layers and side. She said we won't know until I'm done and see where it lands. WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have 1 inch layer to start and maybe 3.5 inches at the bottom ... not long. And less not forget the 1950's bangs .... I didn't walk in with bangs. And didn't ask for bangs. Paying. Blank stare. Got a lot of that. So, I can use both the coupons. Stylist I do not know. Blank stare. What are they, seemingly not recall of what I said when I entered. Or just being ????? So I repeated. More I don't know I have to see them. Ok I'll have to go to my car. Had she asked for them in the beginning instead of saying you're ok, I would have gotten them at that time. We went from blank stare to blank stare and some eye rolling. Throughout the cut she was saying you're ok, all the time. I understand that is an expression but enough is enough and clearly I wasn't ok. Say what you mean. Yup we alternated between 'you're ok' and 'she wasn't an educator' (obviously). Haircut zero because it wasn't what I asked for. And stylist had no intention of listening to what I wanted. Running another errand, I saw a Great Clips in the Pembroke shopping plaza next to the store I went to. Being a NASCAR fan, I know about Great Clips from their sponsorship of a various cars. Having tried to go to a couple different barber shops that day with really long waits and my hair puffing out like a chia pet, I figured how bad could it go. Granted it's relatively low risk because my cut is simple - #2 buzzer on the sides and scissor cut the top to blend in with the sides. Short wait mid-afternoon on a Saturday. And the actual cut took maybe 10 minutes. It was a great cut. My girlfriend said it looked better than any cut I've gotten in the last 10 years from Levi's in NYC. Will definitely be back and will do the online check-in to hold my spot. read more

Had a boys haircut. Took approximately 8 minutes if that. Which I thought was rather quick but OK? Get home and took a good look at his hair. Now taking him to my hairdresser to fix it. Clearly you could see parts that were uneven. My son said mom why is one side longer than the other. Never again to this place. Lesson learned. My daughter had massive knots (matted) in her thick hair which is down to the middle of the back. I had tried for over a week to fix her hair. I was so desperate and frustrated. I tried 4 different places and finally ended up at Great Clips at the North River Plaza, Pembroke. Andrea was working and waited on us first, two of her co-workers saw how bad her hair was. So the three did their magic with much patience and people skills galore. They not only fixed her hair but, were able to maintain the length. This staff is absolutely the best of the best. Walked in there on a Saturday. They asked me if I checked in online I said no. They checked me in. One person walked in after me t. They took her right away because she checked in online. That's fine. 2 more people walked in 10 minutes later they took both of tgem agead of me. Maybe because they checked in onlune. I have been waiting tgere 19 minutes. You've list a customer for life. i visited the great clips on mattakeeset st in pembroke on wednesday, july 3rd at approx 12:00. it had been a while since my last haircut and i wanted to give these guys a try. BAD DECISION !! the girl that gave me my haircut seemed fine, she could tell i wasn't a talkative type, so conversation was minimal. so minimal that she neglected to give me her name! my first time there and she didn't tell me who she was! she finished the cut and i left. this was the day before the fourth so i had things to do. when i finally looked at the haircut she had neglected to cut my eyebrows and trim my ear hair!! imagine letting a first time customer walk out of your establishment with bushy eyebrows and ears!!! i can understand why haircutters don't clip nose hair, but to expect full payment for a half-assed job like the one i got at great clips is crazy. i did return to ask if eyebrows were included in the price and was told that yes, they were. The sides and back were okay, but they had the audacity to chop off 4 inches off the top, when a trim is 1 inch at most. Brought my 16 year old to the Great Clips in Hanover near Five Guys. He told the girl with "Green Hair" to take an inch off. First of all, she was the most miserable looking young lady, no smile and absolutely no personality. Wrong business to be in.
