I was a customer of Ron's for several years and was overall pretty satisfied. His prices are good and he does a good job of explaining good coverage versus bad coverage. He knows his stuff and is the most helpful if be thinks you might sign with him. Once you're a customer, he's less helpful than before you became a customer. He still helps but you begin you notice how much harder he is to reach. He doesn't always reply to e-mails and he doesn't always answer his phone calls. Not a huge issue, except he also doesn't always reply to his voicemails and when he does it isn't exactly prompt. You get lucky from time to time, but in general it's a toss up. No big deal I suppose. I dealt with this for several years because i was generally satisfied. Besides, when you actually need to use your insurance you deal with the company and not your broker, so it seems like an okay business model for someone who isn't the best as following up with people. Things will take an awful turn the second you mention you might want to change insurance brokers. Ron becomes a completely different person. Helpful is the last word I'd use to describe him, which is unfortunate because I have referred friends and family to him, and I myself was a referral from a family member. He flat out lied to me about the process involved in cancelling my insurance policies. According to both insurance companies, it's my broker's job to process my cancellations. Well Ron didn't seem to think so. As somebody trying to figure how to cancel my insurance policies I naturally had a lot of questions (kind of like when I called him to open my policy, except naturally when money is involved he's a lot more helpful). However after every short answer of his he would tell me "anything else?" Very clearly trying to get me off the phone because I'm not worth his time. He made me feel really shitty by asking him questions, which is ironic since HE'S THE ONE WHO IS SUPPOSED TO HELP ME. I wasted two days dealing with these cancelations because Ron flat out refused to do his job (at least according to BOTH insurance companies).
It's really unfortunate that things turned out this way. It's very clear Ron didn't value me as a customer. He took me leaving extremely personal for some reason. I would have had no issues continuing to recommend people to him because like I said, I was happy for the 5 or so years I was with him. I don't know if he reads these reviews or if he cares. Who knows, maybe this is common behavior for insurance brokers. I just thought it would be fair for me to post my experience with this company in case it's useful for anybody else. read more
