Not thrilled. With tip $1620 for this charter planned well in advanced (months). The night before…read morethe trip, someone called me to confirm the time and I was confused at how they didn't know the time we were taking off!!! I said 8 am, that's what we were told for months, and confirmed for months. I was all but reprimanded for chosen that time and not 7 am. Um? Excuse me? You didn't think of letting me know this two months ago... not the night before.! We have 15 people coming. They said they had another boat at 4pm so we would have to come back to shore right away. The day we arrive, all 30 minutes early, the lady asked how many people we had, and again I was in a state of confusion as this was discussed well in advance. I said, 15. She displayed a sense of shock and said wow that's a lot. Wait what? The captain said he didn't have enough rods for everyone. How is this even possible?!?!??? Finally they were able to find a few more rods so everyone on the fishing trip could go fishing. Unreal. The crew was lovely however they assured us that we would catch our limit and fill coolers, and that's why we needed the 8 hour trip and not the 6 trip. Well after being out there, this assurance became more of a dream. We got 15 small keepers total for 15 people and they were all under 20 inches (bait fish). The entire day. My spirits were still high because everyone seemed to have a good time even though we didn't catch much. This was all immediately destroyed when we rushed to dock. A brut of a man screamed at us to rush off the boat. First the hell all, we are taking a quick 2 second family photo. It's my boyfriends 30th and we caught jack shit! PLUS it's not even 4 pm yet and I over paid till 4pm. All that money and this tyrant is yelling at us. I couldn't even say bye to my family before he was forcing cars out of the lot so the new party could come in. How incredibly distasteful. We are leaving empty handed, and what an end to a 30th birthday. I wish I could at the least say bye to my family who drove 2 hours. $1600 to be treated this way.

The boat is spacious and clean, and it was smooth sailing out to our anchor spot, the Isles of Shoals. The dock is conveniently located right outside of downtown Portsmouth, just a short walk over the bridge. Would highly recommend this boat and crew for a fun day out on the water!

Sea Time Fishing Charters

We were excited to go out fishing while up in York. We searched around and found Sea Time and chose…read morethem for our charter. The day before the trip Lawerence/Larry called my wife to change the time of departure to 10:00 am instead of 11:00 am due to the potential for severe weather. So we agreed and were super excited to get out on the water. We arrived at Pepperrell Cove and grabbed some snacks at the Bistro. We messaged Lawerence/Larry that we arrived and asked where to park as there are were only a few spots that were not reserved or restricted. We found the boat and say that Lawerence/Larry was on the boat but a college age kid named Kai was there. He told us that he would be skippering the boat not Lawerence/Larry. This was never communicated to us that Lawerence/Larry wasn't going to actually take us out. This set the stage for a bad day on the boat as Kai was a great guy but there was no bait, and ice or cooler for us to use. The most important aspect was there was no live bait fish for us to use. Kai took us out to Snag Fish for Poggie first. We were able to get some using the 3 pointed hooks without bait by drawing through the school and snagging them. We then switched up to fishing for Mackeral. We were only able to get a few and the 5 foot swells and rain started to take a toll on one of our party. Kai took us into the mouth of Little Harbor to then fish for Strippers. At this point we were almost half way through the trip and just started actually fish for Strippers. Since the tide was still going out we had little success and the poggie were too big for the strippers to take on. We ran out of bait as the few we had were dying off so Kai decided to take us back out into the 5 foot swells to get live bait. As we hit Kittery Point I asked him if we could just use cut bait fish for Strippers. He agreed and then took us up the river to the Naval Yard to fish. The water was much calmer but the wind was pretty steady so we were chased off a couple of times by the Navy's Police boat. So we only really fished for strippers for about 45 minutes in two locations since most of the time was spent navigating to fish for bait fish. We totally felt like Lawerence/Larry passed of this charter to Kai at the last minute hence why there was no live bait or cooler full of ice. We brought this to his attention and he messaged at 5:20 am this morning with the following dismissive message. Turns out that it is illegal to snag fish in Maine. So while Kai was a great kid the owner of the boat is not very good at ensure a great charter since the live bait was provided and we had to get ourselves. UPDATE! To Lawerence the fact that the mackerel we were catching were less than 8 inches in length and were for bait fish for the strippers was no a great charter experience. The fact we wasted over half the actual time of fishing for bait and boating around to 4 different spots was also not an enjoyable experience. The fact that there was no cooler for our snacks and drinks was also not a great experience. The fact you were communicating to my wife the day before and never mentioned you were not going to skipper the boat and we would be skippered by some else was also a little misleading. The fact that there was no bait other than cut bait came across like you handed off the charter at the last minute hence the no live bait. Any other charters I have been on the boat is stocked so the clients can spend more time on the fish rather than getting bait fish.

In heavy thick fog, somehow Larry found a school of pogies. There were boils of stripers feeding on them, like nothing I have ever seen in my life. 3 times we had 2 fish on the line at the same time. Eventually many other boats showed up at the same spot one they saw what was going on, but Larry was clearly was the leader. So much fun! It was my second charter with Larry. First time my son caught a 46". I actually have my own boat in Kittery but I've done charters with Larry so I can learn how to fish the local waters from him. He's an entertaining guy, with a lot of local knowledge, and is happy to teach if you are interested. I'd highly recommend Larry and SeaTime Charters.

Worst Marine Service Ever Experienced…read more Boating is meant to be enjoyable, but... As members of SHKP since 2022 and spending an average of $20K per season on storage, mooring, hauling, commissioning, and maintenance, we gave the go ahead for rudder bearing replacement in fall of 2024 provided it would be complete by April 1, 2025, based on an estimate of around $3500 and provided it would not impact spring launch schedule for April 14-May 1st 2025. Rudder was pulled in fall of 2024 and existing rudder bearings destroyed in the process prior to us being notified that there were no exact match replacements, requiring hull modifications and available replacement bearings would cost $7500, and labor increased to about $3000. Since rudder had been already dropped we had no choice but to approve the purchase. We subsequently learned that no work was done on the project in the fall of 2024 and none in spring 2025 until April, making the project 2 months late and eliminating the possibility of making our agreed upon launch timetable. Billing and payment on project to this point was $10,500, 3x the original estimate. The boat was finally launched in early June, only to be quickly hauled out due to leaking around the outside of the new rudder bearings. The service manager then stated to us that the project had become a "nightmare". The rudder was removed, recaulked, and boat relaunched on June 18. Though no leaking was observed, the technician who performed the work said he thought they might leak under certain sea conditions. We received an additional bill for over $5000 which made no mention of launch and leaking but which itemized labor for reperforming the faulty bearing installation. Upon sea trial Jun 19, the rudder appeared to be dry, but the technician observed a small drip at the engine heat exchanger raw water connection. We were notified that this would be addressed (without any potential issues being mentioned). Two weeks later, now July, we were informed that the technician would not be able to fix the now disassembled heat exchanger connection, and an outside contractor would have to be engaged. Under SHKP policy, only vendors approved by SHKP can work at the marina, and their chosen vendor was not local but an hours drive east in Portland, even though I identified local vendors who were willing and able to do the repair. The vendor - Power Products- designated by SHKP let the schedule slip twice by months and the final repair wasn't complete until the end of August, two months and $7500 after identification of the drip, which we would have been willing and able to live with until the end of the season. On top of this, we were prevented from direct communication with the vendor Power Products by the service manager at SHKP during the repair scheduling and work. All told, we paid $20,000 and lost an entire sailing season for work which we were not afforded adequate discussion and involvement in the decision making process, and we still have concerns about the quality and sea worthiness of the repairs. Since SHKP had our boat as virtual hostage through the entire process, our choices to find better qualified vendors was virtually nil. We hold SHKP management, particularly the service manager, directly responsible for this nightmare season, and warn every potential SHKP customer of our extremely stressful and costly experience. Caveat Emptor, Maine and NH boaters!
