The hours are great and so is the staff. My kids walk in and greet the teachers/staff, which makes it an easy transition in the morning!

They are constantly coming up with their own pricing structures not consistent with their corporate policies or even their own from last year. Concrete example #1- During inclement weather and Gwinnett Schools closing, we were still charged the full week? Why were we charged for before and after care when this service was not rendered due to schools closing? Example 2: We pay for before and after care which includes 2 hours before school and 2 hours after. On early release days, they charge you extra EVEN if you pick up your child during the 2 hour aftercare hours you have already paid for? Why are we double charged? I recently recommended 4 families to the Center and deeply regret it because of the lack of consistency (and guess what, not referral bonus). There are other centers close to this one. I say choose one of them.

NOT impressed. 2)My 6 year old son, who is far from a trouble maker was assaulted last week by a 9 year old boy in the head. This daycare failed to call myself and my husband to explain the situation when it transpired, and I ended up learning about the incident when I picked him up which was not acceptable. My husband was furious and gave the Director a piece of his mind. Do yourself a favor and bring your kids someplace else. If you want quality service for your children, this is definitely not the place!!!

Not wheelchair accessible either with no cameras was also a red flag. They have a problem keeping staff around, I noticed months ago and I was told during my visit that a senior instructor was leaving. I dont blame the staff because of managements spurious sense of care. No need for you all to lure parents in to visit your little house school with false promises and covert discriminatory behavior once they leave because they didnt pass your projecting manipulative test. If you dont like the look and skin colors of the intellectual parents you cannot manipulate, surely you couldn't genuinely care for their offspring. Be careful not to leave your children around people so miserable they refuse to provide or heat up food for a 17 month old enrolled at their "school" with a tuition. This is optional childcare before grade school and these are the type of people that make you want to keep your kid home schooled.

At 4 years of age my son's degree of concentration, ability to problem solve, love and understanding of nature and level of creativity are far beyond my expectations. I know with these skills he will have an outstanding foundation to grow from. My 1 year old is also greatly benefiting from this environment, at 15 months she has shown me how capable even a toddler can be. She feeds herself independently, can drink from a cup, is working on dressing herself, "helps" me with chores and takes great pride in showing me what she can do. The teachers or "guides" are all wonderful and truly care about your children. I strongly recommend this school to anyone.

I don't always write reviews on schools but when I do it's going to be about the Sunshine House Where do I begin? June 2023...just touched down in GA from Los Angeles, don't know a single soul in the Peach state and moved out here from an area that has a very educated driven school system (Arcadia), yup if your from CA you'll know that it's #2 best place to teach, #4 best school in California and #38 best in USA, their high school has graduated 100% of their class 3 years in a row with over 3.5gpa average...Aiko was in that type of school system, so my expectations were against me moving to a small city of Grayson. June 2023 touched based in GA by early July I ran over to a few other pre-k nearby and let's just say I was not impressed, matter of fact I was really considering just not enrolling my daughter in school all together until she was like 11, really it was that bad I was willing to take my chances. No joke I entered a preK nearby without being buzzed in cus a little kid about 7 yrs old just ran and opened the door for me, yah no we ain't doing that. I was so conflicted, I needed her to continue being social, learning and most importantly I need my space! Quick 411 on our daughter (Aiko) she's a diva, she wants to be a model and makeup artist, she already decided that at 5! She HATES school with a passion, you know how you feel waking up on a Monday morning to go to work? Yeah...that's her everyday! Needless to say the Lord likes to test my wife and I with some patience every morning, us real parents know what that is like, Aiko get your A** up now it's 7:54 and we gonna be late ! Jp baby we love ya :) Drive by Sunshine House on a weekly basis and decided to pop in one day just to ask about pricing/availability, the usual, already not expecting much based on the other school visits, but The VIBES!!! Shoot I felt like I walked into a Waffle House, 2 gals up front greeted me with a smile, some info and even called out the director (Ms Bartlett) who was also super nice and welcoming (Southern Hospitality) I guess does exist still, anyways she gave me a quick tour of the place, handed me some paperwork, told me some pricing and the rest is history...well not kinda... Fast fwd about 1.5 months school is about to start in 1 week, omg I forgot my packet! Aiko isn't enrolled! My wife thinks otherwise cus I'm a typical husband who lied about getting everything done! I offer to go grab her Starbucks but in reality I rush over to Sunshine House prayingggggg all the spots aren't taken, the girls upfront are laughin when I tell them what I've done, they say uhhhh I think it's to late but let me ask the director...yup you guessed it! They were still able to take her! They not only saved a spot for her but they saved my marriage! Now, if you've made it this far you've learned that the other schools in the area suck, trust me I'm the most honest guy I know. You also probably understand the ladies who work here are friendly, you also understand it's really dangerous to lie to your wife. Now the fun stuff. The teachers! Ms Cindy and Ms Jess or Ms Jazz, according to Aiko So remember I mentioned earlier Aiko hates school, yeah she's that kid. Cries everyday! Every teachers words, says shell get used to it, naw I know my kid she ain't gettin over nada! Well, Ms Cindy and Ms Jazz really play a huge part in Aikos school life, though she still cries time to time she is much much more willing to participate so that tells me they have left an imprint in her heart to gain her trust, for that alone it gives me peace and mind which I believe is the important attribute for any parent to require from a school/teachers. Aiko made her first best friend here also, Tallulah, shout to ya girl! Oh, side note Ms Jazz and Ms Cindy secretly run a hair braiding business during school hours cus I send Aiko to school with her hair down and at least once a week she comes back with hair hair lookin fleek! As you can hear, Aiko really enjoys her time here, lots of friends, nice staff, activities, memories and most importantly no kids opening a coded door for you, what else could you ask for in a school? My Wife likes to remind me how I almost forgot about our daughters education, Im a man of faith, I see it more as if the school was meant to be God will make a way, he did and I'm so thankful everyday, this place has been a true blessing for our family and Aiko, she's made so many friends and memories here in the past year so with that being said... I recommend anyone who is looking for a PreK to check this place out first, or last (if you are a risk taker like myself) the staff is awesome, facility is always clean, friendly parents and they are always engaged in activities. Your child/children will definitely leave better than they arrived because they treat your children with love!

They actually had quite a few bad reviews, compared to the other Montessori schools in my area, but most of them were for kids in the older grades and my son is only 2 and I really liked the teacher he was going to have, so I decided I would still give them a try. On June 28th I took my son to the teacher/child meeting so my son could meet his teacher. In early July I paid my registration fee and thought I was registered. A week before school was set to start and 45 minutes before my orientation, they called me and told me they were denying my application because I wasn't committing my son to go to school there through elementary school. I've been to the school twice and have spoken to them on the phone at least 3 times and never once did they say you have to commit your 2 year old through elementary school! it's obvious they had another kid that they just wanted to put in my sons spot, which is fine, it's their school, but to do it a week before school starts was so unprofessional. ALL the other Montessori schools in my area are full now. How can you say you care about kids, but not treat them all with the same respect? They didn't care about the fact that my child doesn't have a school to go to now. I'm not sure if it was a money issue or race (I'm black), but my child definitely got push aside for another child and they way they did it was cruel and unwarranted. On top of all that, the Administration Director had the nerve to get annoyed when I wanted to know exactly when I would be getting my application refund. I would not recommend this school.

DO NOT enroll your minority children at HOMS--your kids' mental health is far more important than…read moreany Montessori curriculum. The severity of the prejudice, retaliation, and negligence toward my family does not capture the levity displayed by HOMS regarding the incidents BOTH my black sons of Egyptian and Jamaican descent experienced. -------------------------- Incident #1: My kids were placed in a vehicle during pick-up and not one single person thought to ensure the safety of my kids by verifying the actual adult. When I brought this issue to their attention, I received excuses to justify how busy carpool can be especially as they iron out challenges in the beginning of the school year. Incident #2: My 2-year-old's dread loc was completely "combed out." The school assured me there were no combs in the classroom so technically his hair wasn't "combed out." His hairstyle represents our connection to Africa, pride in our blackness, and a spiritual connection to God. When I brought the removal of his loc to their attention, it was explained that the staffer was ensuring his comfort for naptime by removing the sand trapped in his loc'd hair. I received an excuse by the lead teacher that she had no idea what his hair was. Incident #3: My family's nanny had been accused of spanking my eldest in the parking lot of the school (and no, there are no cameras or video to support this allegation). This accusation was made by a 1st grader, whose mum initially stated she witnessed said spanking too. I incessantly questioned the mum through the Assistant Principal Colleen Crewey as this is a serious allegation. Colleen, on the other hand, was bothered by my need for data points on this fireable offense. Anna then began engaging with me taking questions to the mum that witnessed this spanking. Again, HOMS showed no concern for the welfare of my children when I asked questions. Instead, my questions were deemed too much by these women. The mum later admitted she had not seen anything as she was focused on driving. I was given a reminder of what is not allowed on the school's premises. Incident #4: On January 6th, 2022, BOTH of my children were "released" from their contracts with HOMS. On December 15th, 2021 my eldest had been bullied then jumped by students (boy-girl twins) in his class. When he successfully defended himself against the twins, he was described as impulsive & aggressive. I was mandated to create an action plan for my eldest son's teachers. I was told that part of my action plan needed to include him seeking medical attention to address his impulsivity and aggression. I spent my winter vacation chasing these mandates. Once submitted on January 6th, there was no discussion. Instead, my efforts and concern for my son were dismissed by HOMS. Both boys were released from contracts with HOMS. If this decision was intended to be a consequence for my eldest, then why was my youngest son released too? -------------------------- Furthermore, if HOMS is "dedicated to providing a safe and healthy environment while nurturing a child's natural desire to learn, to teach valuable skills, and to instill the love of learning that will last for a lifetime," why did staff allow my eldest son to be targeted and bullied by other children? Why did he fear going to school? Where was the nurturing? What valuable skill was taught by "releasing" my children? Where was the love of learning [about different hairstyles] when my son's loc was being combed out? However, what does last a lifetime is the prejudice, retaliation, and negligence inflicted upon my family by Harbor Oaks Montessori School. I, like many other parents, want a safe learning environment for my children. I am even more cautious and cannot trust that my black sons will not be judged by the color of their skin by a school that encourages this type of behavior. I am also concerned for the children left behind and under the leadership of these 2 sisters. I KNOW my sons are not the first to experience this, and I am afraid they will not be the last.
