In the times of Covid, just keep in mind that hotel staff will not enter your room during your stay. For any and all clean linens, they ask that you stick your used linens in a provided plastic trash bag and set it outside your door between the hours of 9 AM and 1 PM daily. As you go out and about and enjoy the rest of your day, hotel staff will switch out your linens and return them back at your door within that same timeframe in another clean trash bag.

I fell in love with the South Wind Motel!! Ok, people, this is a BEACH TOWN with one traffic light, so don't go down there expecting the Hilton. However, you can expect comfortable clean accommodations (100% on their Sanitation Inspection from the Dept. of Health!) and a friendly, knowledgeable staff. The ocean front units are wonderful. I had one on the third floor which had two double beds and a FULL kitchen set up. Full size fridge, coffee maker, four-burner stove, microwave. Pots, pans, dishes and flatware for four. Yeah, so the flatware didn't exactly match, but it's the BEACH! Go get a hotdog and get over it. Then go out on the balcony equipped with 2 rocking chairs and enjoy the beautiful view.

By then, with no additional funds, we had returned to the campsite and briefly stabilized my husband. After hours of being declined, they expected me to break down my campsite and move my husband again at 7pm. They are refusing to refund me for the error they made.

We could hear people fighting through the walls, which was scary and made it hard to relax. The main entrance was left unlocked all night, and there were no staff members or security present--just an overall feeling of being unsafe. To make matters worse, we just saw on the news that there was a shooting at this hotel, which sadly doesn't surprise me. Our group had multiple rooms and all showed signs of pets--hair, strong chemical smells clearly trying to cover up pet odors, and a general lack of cleanliness. There was no front desk, no amenities, and no one available to help or even answer basic questions. It's under new ownership now, and unfortunately, it shows. I would proceed with caution, but personally, I will not be staying here again.

The owner is a retired teacher from the Mid-West, takes care of his property. It's only 5 blocks from Main Street and all the Shag Clubs. Many "insiders" know of it, so do call ahead if it's a big weekend for those aging dancer types. I like it that it's inexpensive, clean and has off-street parking next to the rooms. There are rooms with kitchenettes, but I just get the ones with the 'fridge and coffee pot. They'll loan you an iron if you need it. The heat is from a wall mounted a/c unit that does cooling and heating. The bathrooms are clean if a little dated. NBD The property is across the street from ocean-front, so beach access is convenient. This is not a place for a romantic get-away, but the price is very easy on the wallet. There just aren't many small motels left along the Grand Strand. There's mostly high-rise hotels with spiffy pools and spiffier prices. Take your pick, cheap and clean--pricey and smelly. I pick clean every time.

This was one of the worst stays I've ever had somewhere. The primary bathroom shower had hair still…read morein it. Strands on the walls, and ledges. I didn't tell the front desk so they didn't have a chance to correct it, but it should have been clean to start with. The drawers in all of the dressers had hair in them as well, with 1 drawer looking like it had pubic hair! The fridge didn't get cold enough, even on the almost highest setting. The freezer was fine. Most of the staff looked very young and I saw them goofing off in hallways instead of working. Then there was an electrical fire in a condo on our floor that no one was staying in! Thankfully the fire was contained and no one was hurt. Another fire alarm went off on our final night there, but there was no fire. We all went outside at 4:40am just to be told we could go back in. It was very hard to go back to sleep after that. I don't plan on returning. This place has obvious issues.

Upon…read morefurther investigation and having a few issues with coughing and sneezing and a little snooping around, we found black mold behind the door where the air compressor resides. It was downright gross. We reported it to the front desk (she was very receptive to our complaint) and was told the manager had to be notified prior to any action being taken. There were no other rooms available at the Seaside, so a new location would have been the only other option. Nothing was done that night. The next morning, we were prepared to move to another spot. After speaking to the manager and a maintenance person being notified of the situation, we were offed to have the room sprayed, or to have the mess painted. We chose neither, as that would only exacerbate the issue. We wanted out of that room. From doing my research black mold, the only true remedy would be to have professional remediation. The manager, even after seeing the photos I'd taken said that it could have just been "dirty" NOT! So, she arranged for us to be housed at another location with the same accommodations. We had already packed our belongings prior to speaking to her, so we were ready to move. We did and when we arrived our rooms were not ready. Waited over an hour before we could go upstairs to our room. The room seemed clean. The kitchen was outdated but functional. You be the judge. Mold or "just dirt" See pictures attached. Because of the exposure and inconvenience of having to move, I felt that some portion of the money spent should have been refunded. I will be sending this review to corporate to see if a remedy will be provided. July 21-23 stay. Best part of stay was the beach, beach view and rooms seemed clean, but how clean can it be with this circulating around in the air?
