Cancelled on us twice and kept trying to get us to do the half an hour ride even though we wanted the hour ride. Went with someone else.

We had been on airboat tours in the Everglades but one of the members of our party had never been on an airboat, so we booked through Grasshopper Ecotours. Captain Rick kept in contact and even gave us an opportunity to move our scheduled tour so we would get better weather. By the time our tour rolled around, it was a beautiful day with nothing but sunshine. Captain Rick was obviously very knowledgeable about where the gators would be so we were able to see a lot of them during our hour ride, including some of the biggest alligators I'd ever seen. We loved captain Rick! The man does everything himself. He's fun and full of information. He pointed out not just the gators, but also the birds and plants. The tour is an hour longer than competing company, Twister. If you're worried about the noise, Captain Rick provides free ear protection for guests to use. The boat also has binoculars and water at no charge also. Even in choppy waters, the ride was smooth and fun. Tip: Sweatshirts are recommended. The wind from the sea breeze and the boat makes it a little chilly for some, but I was comfortable in a tank top. read more

Had a fantastic ride this morning with Captain Rick. Boat was comfortable and clean, nice headphones to keep the engine noise down when moving. Great mix between wider river to look for wildlife (saw a few gators which is harder in the hot months) and weaving through narrow trails you wouldn't be able to get to in the winter months when it rains less. Captain Rick gave a good blend between slowing down to give us information about the area, plants, and wildlife we were seeing and kicking up the speed for some fun crossing over some places regular boats could never go. Great way to spend the morning, easy to get to from Cocoa and Cape Canaveral beach areas. read more

Our tour guide was extremely informative and knowledgeable not only where the gators were but about trees, birds, native land, etc. I would recommend this to anyone not only wanting I see gators but also wanting to see wildlife and have a relaxing time!! Set up a tour while on a port day from a cruise, and was blown away. This was nothing like the junk that the cruise line tries to force on you. The boat captain was personable, knowledgeable, and very cool. Ride was over an hour long and we saw gators, fish, birds, turtles, etc. Cost per person was quite low. There is also a bar by where you depart with beers on the cheap. Can't recommend this place enough. read more

I booked a cruise and wanted to do something I'd never done before when we docked at Port Canaveral. I wanted something different, not overrun with cruise people and affordable. A friend found Airboat Ecotours by looking online and we booked! I had SO much fun! We arrived to the swamp and immediately you can tell he takes pride in his work. The boat was well maintained, stocked with noise reducing earmuffs, binoculars and even a cooler with ice cold water for the ride! The tour itself was informative, giving details about the Everglades, St. John's River, birds, the land, history of the land and the best part: ALLIGATORS! Hooray for Captain Rick. Three of us were on a boat of 6 plus Rick, boat could hold 15. On the water about 1h 45m. Pickup at a nearby hotel in his shuttle bus, short drive to his airboat launch. He was full of good history, geography botanical and wildlife information. Talked just the right amount, took questions, clever and courteous. Saw 7-9 gators, bald eagle, lots of birds. Use the binoculars and ear protection he provides! A little miffed he charged me $55/head on a credit card without telling me, but cash payers paid $49 while his ads say $45 adults/$40 kids. Captain Rick was awesome. "Grasshopper" Airboat Ecotours was such a unique Florida experience. Capt Rick does everything himself. His airboat was extremely clean and well kept (no ripped seats etc), noise dampening headphones and binoculars are provided for every person and he also has a cooler of waters for his guests. He was very kind in accommodating us at the last minute without reservations after our original plans for the morning fell through and waited for us to arrive which we were able to do while the other guests were still filling out paperwork. Once we were all situated on the boat Captain Rick took a picture with everyone's individual camera or phone. Such a nice gesture and he really is just that nice of a guy. The weather was beautiful for a day out on the water and we saw lots of egrets, heron and a handful of gators. Very reasonably priced for a 2 hour tour through the central Florida everglades. Capt Rick is extremely knowledgeable and is able to spot gators a hundred yards away and cut off the engine before the noise from the boat scares them off. This airboat ride was MUCH better than one we took one year ago with a larger competitor. Captain Rick showed us a wider variety of wildlife (including gators, an amazing inlet with tons of baby gators, and all sorts of birds) and a fun mix of marshes, rivers, islands, and open water. Captain Rick's boat is spotless and well-maintained, with nice binoculars provided for every rider. Captain Rick's knowledge of these waterways and their flora and fauna made for a fascinating trip. My nine-year-old son loved it. Highly recommended, especially if you prefer more interaction and attention with a pleasant, knowledgeable captain. read more
