Where do I even begin?! Well, sit back, get a cuppa and relax - this is going to take some time!…read moreOctober 1st-October 5th - the weekend of my daughter's long-awaited wedding. We took over. Every room. At first, everyone was "omg - we're all a minimum of 3.5 hours away - WHY!!!" As Mother of the Bride, I had a lot of work on this wedding, and Connie was my first contact here. She made everything perfect from the onset. My husband and I visited about 3 weeks before the big day to lock down decorations with Connie in the amazing barn. She made us feel welcome & was so incredibly helpful. We left with a feeling of control, where before I was just frazzled. I knew she understood my vision for the decorations and would do everything she could to make it happen. The house itself is a magical place with rooms tucked through this door, past the games, to up one of the two staircases, to behind that door off the parlor, to down the stairs through the solarium! Tea and coffee are always available, along with lemonade and water. They offer a variety of teas and coffee pods for all flavor lovers, including decaf. From this room we open to the grand solarium. Completely surrounded by the 2nd-story deck and porch with an outdoor fireplace! Big windows allow for streaming sunlight all day - it sparkles! Tables set here are for the 100% delicious breakfasts Sally whips up in the kitchen! The deck/porch off this room lent itself to the cocktail hour for the rehearsal dinner, where everyone had the most fun petting some of the many cats that live on the property! The stairs leading down from the solarium held two more rooms. Anna's Garden room. The other is Houghtelin Hideaway Room - wow! This was our room. While not technically an "old" part of the house structure, it oozed aged refinement. A large king bed was the highlight with the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept in! I seriously need to know what it was - I peeked under the sheets and did see a foam topper, but that couldn't be the whole secret! A big 1920s oak 'set-back" dresser gave ample room to put our clothes away. smart lamps on either side of the bed lent some modern convenience with USB ports, plugs, and such. A beautiful vanity sat as a use for either a desk or a vanity with a large mirror over. There is also a bench with a large mirror over - plenty of "getting ready" mirrors. A closet with overhead light helped to hold out garments, bags, with hooks set extra high for gowns and such. The other side of the room held a huge leather sofa that you just sink into! Chairs and tables allow this area to be a nice conversation nook. The bathroom was a masterpiece in itself! A huge walk-in stone shower with both a hand-held wall-mounted spray as well as an overhead rain shower head. They also supply shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel in a wall-mounted dispenser. The enormous soaking tub was well used by myself three times! The vanity was well lit with so much room for things underneath with open shelves. A door out of the room at back led to a small patio area with a table and chairs and a path that leads directly to the wedding garden. Everyone there did everything possible to make my daughter's wedding weekend a magical event, and I truly hope we didn't overwhelm them too much! Right to the moment we pulled out on Sunday morning, watching the house fade in the mirrors behinds us - we knew we would be back again and again. This place felt like home. And one last - if you are holding an even there is none better than Connie to help you! She is an amazing, helpful, joy-filled, exuberant, AWESOMEDANCER, of an event coordinator!!

First of all, Stacey, the owner, is extremely competent and communicative and overall awesome at what she does! Even though she's always busy working events and in the kitchen, she still is quick to respond to any questions/emails/texts. Her response time was actually faster than any other vendor involved in my wedding, which I really appreciated. When my dad had a lot of dish-specific questions regarding preparation and details before our tasting, she was willing to have a long phone call with him answering all of our concerns. She made us a custom menu/package when we wanted to tweak and add on to their typical wedding packages, and the pricing was very reasonable as well! Stacey also let us have a 2nd tasting when we were still undecided on a chicken dish after our first tasting. This company wants to make sure you are satisfied, and can pretty much make any dish you might be interested in. Our red-meat option for my wedding buffet was sliced NY strip steak, and we requested it cooked rare to medium-rare. The cook temp was very important to my dad, a steak aficionado, but I figured it would end up coming out closer to medium since it's nearly impossible to cook steak off-site and have it be that perfect pink temp still once it's brought on-site...especially since even steakhouses have had difficulty getting that perfect "rare to medium-rare" cook temp in my past experiences. Well, Biggerstaff's steak for my wedding was absolutely perfect! They were all cooked to the perfect temperature, a beautiful pink rare (but not under)--we were extremely happy! (The rest of the food turned out great too.) On the day of the wedding, Biggerstaff's employees operated so smoothly and were so nice to me, and set up the tables so beautifully. Everything went off without a hitch, and my guests were all very satisfied. I highly recommend this company, especially if you're having an event at Hauser Hill, since they're extremely familiar and know how to work seamlessly out of there. PS - try the cornbread casserole! Everyone at my wedding was raving about it.

When I brought it to the manager's attention, he said to the chef/cook that I had a question, instead of the manager managing like he should have. I told the Chef/Cook which dishes were cold. The manager walked away and didn't make one effort to make it right. They had OJ on the menu and we were only offered coffee and water. The water came in a plastic cup and the lukewarm coffee came in a styrofoam cup. The buffet was $39.95 per person. What kind of restaurant serves drinks in these cups with these prices? Also, flatware was unwrapped and lying open in a basket. The server NEVER came back to check on us but an 18% tip was automatically attached to our bill. For what???? It goes without saying, we won't ever be back. A sadly disappointing Mother's Day. A good and experienced manager would have tried to make it right. Total bill was $107. Thank you very much!
