The place's name changed years ago to the Sand Bar Grill but is in the same family. We have been coming here for over 10 years for breakfast when we're camping at Mississippi Palisades state park across the river. Don't be put off by the exterior. The restaurant is clean with good food and low priced. It is open every day of the year and is a real community asset. There are six four seat tables and two large communal tables where the locals sit and often feel free to help themselves to the coffee. Don't expect gourmet or fancy but do expect real homemade food, generous portions, and friendly small town service. They always seem busy but seldom crowded. They serve great pancakes that cover a full size dinner plate. This place is a small town gem.

They gave us a choice of either dark chocolate or milk chocolate. One wanted the dark chocolate and one the milk. If you like dark chocolate I would go with that. I had a taste and it was amazing. The café was extremely busy, so I completely understood that food might take longer than usual. However, after waiting about 30 minutes, only one person in our group had received their bagel, while customers who ordered after us were already getting their food. We went to the counter for assistance, but it was difficult to get a staff member's attention or receive help. After waiting another 10 minutes, someone finally agreed to remake our missing bagels. What was most frustrating was being told to get back in the long line, which extended out the door, if we wanted a refund. In the end, it took nearly an hour to receive two bagels. While the coffee and bagels themselves were good, the service and handling of the situation left us disappointed.
