A challenging golf course on top of a hill overlooking Braddock and the Mon Valley. Decently laid out, it curves and bends about the hill offering some narrow fairways that test your course management skills. The par 3's are all fun to play - especially the cliffhanger. Hard to rate this objectively when the staff is garbage and a liar- I am looking at you Bernie. Complaint to Nancy is not much better: Trash. The personnel at the course, especially Bernie did a bait and switch. They didn't like that I booked through GolfNow and told me that I was "lucky" they were going to honor our 1:50 tee time. We played 9 and at the turn I was told they have golf leagues, where very backed up and asked if I would take a raincheck. Then they said they could only get raincheck by calling GolfNow which they did not have the phone number for. He said he would accommodate me for doing them a favor by giving me a 'promo card'. When I got home, it turns out upon reading the fine print of the promo card that the times were restrictive AND I had to pay $20 x 2 for a cart! This was despite me already having paid for the cart on my initial time. What kind of raincheck is that? When I called the next day I was rebuffed by Nancy because Bernie denied this. After further discussion he finally admitted it but was angry that I debated having to pay again for a cart from a raincheck THEY were providing to facilitate their league. He yelled at me because he gave me a promo card- BUT failed to realize the wasn't a raincheck he promised because I would have had to pay for the cart (x2 people) in addition to extremely restrictive tee times. The facility was ok, dated, but overall nice enough. I was there as a guest for a baby shower and not to golf. The room where the shower was held was beautiful, with one whole wall of floor to ceiling windows and a "grand view". We had one main server and maybe a "helper" (she was young and blonde) for the entire party. Honestly, I don't feel like the server(s) did much. I saw one clean plates maybe once and she did clean up as we were settling the party after the event. As a very friend of the family, I came early to set up. We arrived well before hand to help set up and decorate. I asked for a trashcan (from the helper) to be placed in the hallway because the only one available was near the serving station and was very small and we never got one. The food and drinks were buffet style, self serve, and left a lot to be desired. There was not even water at the table. The spinach dip and pizza were good. We also had buffet pans of chicken tenders, pasta, and chicken on skewers. The chicken on skewers was very dry. The pasta was hard. There was no water in the pan to keep it moist. We even asked the younger server to add water to the pasta pan and that never happened. The alfredo sauce was delicious. Overall, it was a nice place, but the food and service was far below average. The small details weren't there, which was disappointing. I would not book another party there. read more

Played this course Father's day weekend 2020. Saturday was a warmup for Sunday's match against my one and only Father. Both days I played we experienced major backup on the course. I attribute the slow play to the vast amount of blind shots provided by the course layout. If you go, prepare for a potential 5-6 hour round. I have been here and played a normal paced round other times in the past. Just be cautious during peak hours. Overall the course came a long way from what it was 15+ years ago. GPS cartsThe scorecard gives advice for each hole and how to approach it. The greens are just fast enough to have your ball roll off after a missed downhill putt. It is beautiful and offers many spectacular views from the side of the mountain. Play it, take it in, bring some extra balls just incase. read more

I've played a lot of courses all over the country and few will humble you like this course. I can tell the bad reviews are from people who realized they're not a tour pro after playing here lol. Staff was awesome. Course was awesome shape for November. Idk how the course is so cheap but the carts are new, greens are quick not fast, pro shop prices are cheaper than a gas station, even the golf balls were a good price. We were a little late to our tea time due to construction in the nearby town but the course staff was courteous and made us feel welcomed. A unique, challenging, well-maintained course. When you play here, you know you are in Pittsburgh, and I mean that in a good way. You are overlooking a US Steel mill, Kennywood, and the Mon river, or you are traversing through canyons up and down the hilly northern Appalachian terrain. Most of the holes are one of a kind in their layout- with a 150 yard par 3 over a 90 foot cliff, for example, and several holes where you'll have to decide to either cut the dog leg or layup (I advise laying up on the third hole - but go for it with a fade on 6!). It can be a frustrating course if you are trying to score low - there are many places where moderately offline shots will result in a lost ball or trickle down a steep hill. But if you are looking to test your skills, make some creative shots, and beat your buddies, it's a great time. Look at it bright side, you will probably find as many balls as you lose! read more

Friendly staff. You are essentially playing on top of a hill/hillside. When you are on top, it's wide open, although holes are right next to each other. When you are on a hillside, course is very narrow with steep hill on one side and a cliff on the other. LOTS of blind tee shot, hitting at a directional flag pole. You will do multiple switchbacks with your golf cart trying to get around this place. They often have cart on cart path only rule, which is annoying, but walking is still not advisable unless you want to climb hills all day. Good views you get of the valley does NOT make up for somewhat frustrating course layout. read more

Never going back...went out as a twosome with my cousin and had a threesome and foursome in front of us so we weren't moving. The foursome behind us were members or regulars, they hit into us and yelled at us all day. Decided to confront them on the 14th tee box as they kept yelling at us to golf faster but we couldn't with the groups in front of us. Almost threw hands with an elderly man because he wouldn't stop running his mouth. We quit after hole 15 because we couldn't play in front of them anymore and we were furious. Golf should never be like that and is the reason why younger people aren't golfing as much...What a disgrace of a human being. If you allow those types of people of the course, then I don't ever want to golf there again. read more

I would rate this 0 stars if I could. Two friends and I embarked on a journey to golf a course we had never been to before. The pictures online looked incredible and we were not disappointed upon arrival. We booked at 4:00pm tee time and we made it to hole 3 when we got stuck behind a group of 8 golfers (which I didn't even know was legal), and this really slowed our afternoon down. We made it through 6 holes before a massive thunderstorm and some hail arrived to the Pittsburgh area. For our safety we took cover and then raced our way to the clubhouse, along with many other golfers that were out that day. Due to the dangerous weather conditions we returned our carts and walked into the clubhouse to do what we do at any golf course when dangerous conditions stop a round of golf, enquire about a rain check. The employee there stated to us that since we were a twilight group that went out after 4:00pm we were not eligible for a rain check. When we told him their website says twilight golf is after 5:00pm on the weekends (see image below) he still tried to reject any sort of olive branch such as a rain check for 9 holes since we had already played 6. He eventually offered us $7 (which was also a lie) and we were handed a rain check slip for $6.86, approximately 1/4 of the price to play a round here. Many other golfers were offered the same deal and decided it was better worth their time to try to brave the thunderstorm while holding metal poles in the air than to get 25% off their next trip out there. It's almost as if Grandview would rather have their customers (who I was taught growing up are always right) have to decide to risk playing golf in lightning or to walk away feeling ripped off. In all my time golfing I have never seen such poor customer service and I will never consider returning to redeem my $6.86 voucher. The course is beautiful and a lot of fun to play, it is just unfortunate when poor customer service can ruin what was supposed to be a great day. read more

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Had a memorial outing planned 2 months ago for my father who just passed away. 28 golfers. They sent me an email 2 weeks before the event saying the my event was cancelled because they just scheduled a bigger event. Unreal! No apology and no other options given. Inexpensive greens fees but the weirdest set up of a golf course I've ever played. The layout of the course goes from wide open links like golf to extremely tight tree lined holes. My husband and I like to use our Enjoy Coupon Book to experience new places to eat and we had been trying to get to this place for a while. This was very disappointing. To use our coupon for $19 off one entree we had a choice of TWO entrees!!!! TWO . . . either shrimp scampi or chicken parm. It's not that they offered anything else . . .that's all they had in the menu as dinner entrees!!! They had a variety of sandwiches so maybe we'll return to try something for lunch. 2nd time playing here. Was in the area for a bowling tournament so a group of us decided to come early and get a round of golf in. The course is hilly and challenging with readable and fairly flat greens. But, as the name suggests, what a Grand View of both the course as well as the surrounding areas. Carts are in excellent shape and provide you with electronic scoring and course GPS. The folks here take pride in their course and take very good care of it. read more

Challenging but fun course! Bring plenty of extra balls, I am a novice and lost at least 5. Carts are in great condition and remind you to stay on the cart path (sometimes annoying when looking for balls but safety first) and guide you to the next hole. The pro was very nice and patient with our group as we had to delay teeing off for an hour due to parkway closures. Driving range is nothing to write home about but gets the job done for warming up. Beautiful views and lots of variety of length and layout of holes. I'll definitely be back! read more

High expectations did not follow through after playing at this mediocre golf course in Braddock, PA on Saturday, July 27. This golf adventure took an immediate turn for the worse when I went to the pro shop to purchase a sleeve of Pro VIs. I was greeted by an older man who was pessimistic about the outcome of my play and said my yellow balls that I purchased would "fly into the woods looking like little canaries" . Look, I'm not going to lie and say I didn't lose those 3 balls after the first 3 holes but please give me a smidge of a false sense of encouragement to boost my delusional golf game. Also I don't want to attack the older man's age . I believe boomers were the greatest generation whom ever walked this great country. They went to the moon for Christ sake!! They are also the most non selfish group of people who helped keep working class wages prosperous for generations to come. I also think it's commendable of them to trust our "cosmopolitan elite" media no matter how dishonest they tend to be... Getting back to golf , the first hole was a blind shot , approximately 350 yards from the "tips". Nice little dog leg left down hill. I think I boggied it. IDK. I thought to myself , cool. I like how the course incorporated blind shots into the lynx. I didn't realize however that 94.4% of tee shots were fucking blind . Who in the holy fuck created this golf course ?!Only an idiot would except a low score his first time not knowing the lay out of the unfair fairways. (Me)There were some scenic views on some holes however that was interrupted by constant noise whether it was chainsaws, police sirens and the sounding of other golfers saying "fore!" on errant shots. O I forgot people don't say "fore!" on any shot . Our group nearly got plunked in the temple a few times . It felt like our group was under attack by a jihad golf gang . And for the record the sirens were really annoying on the third hole . I understand that Braddock is a culturally diverse neighborhood. And I think that's great and all . Diversity is our strength! Also I believe new immigrants are more American than the "current stock". ..But please keep the noise level under jet decible level when I'm about to putt for double par . Anyway I shot a 86 ... for 16 holes!! And only took 3 hour to ride ... 9 holes! Get ready for this story. I'm playing a foursome and this guy (the owner) comes up asking if we skip the next few holes we can come back around and play a few more because 6 members were playing as a group didn't like waiting for us. We had 2 beginners with us so we were playing not fast but a fair and respectful pace. We got stuck behind groups in the back nine after skipping holes and it was too late for us to play anymore. When I requested 25% cash back for our green fees he puts the phone back in the pro shop members hands and on speaker phone calls me an asshole. I went off outlining his greens and tee boxes were burnt grass, not watered once this summer and fairways were just as bad. Grand view use to be nice but not it's gone to shit. Bob the owner is a complete disrespectful piece of work. Save your $50 and play Pittsburgh national or conleys resort, you'll thank me later read more

Some of the worst management I have ever seen, while my family and I were driving up to 6 tee box, the starter said that they didn't offer the Twilight special and kicked us off the course. Without a clear explanation other than "HE" wanted to go, he proceeded to give us our money back(which he had waiting for us) This isn't the first time we have have problems with this guy. I've reviewed Grandview in the past fairly favorably. Today I'm going to post a review that's not so favorable. The league I play in is on Thursday afternoon, I haven't missed a night all year and played well enough to make the playoffs, which started last week August the 8th. Our playoffs last 4 weeks and between last week and this week Grandview decided to aerate the greens, Great, aerate the greens in the middle of August right while we're having our end of the season playoffs. They say that they aerate now so the greens will be in real good shape by the middle of September and on into October, when our league is done. I know it's the same for everyone, but I play golf for enjoyment, and I don't think anyone enjoys playing on aerated greens. To protest Grandview's decision to aerate now I will play out the season every week but I will not spend one dime in the bar afterwards and will encourage everyone in my league and all the other leagues to do the same. read more

I like this course. It's always very well maintained. The carts are in excellent shape, all electric and all equipped with GPS. The greens fees are extremely reasonable and many of the holes are challenging, even if you are a better golfer. It truly has a grand view up and down the Mon, from the Triangle and the Cathedral of Learning to Braddock, the Edgar Thompson Works, Kennywood and beyond. Yet, when you go a few more feet on the cart path, you are in the woods, alone with the abundant wildlife. One caveat- bring an abundant supply of balls. If you golf like I do, one sleeve will not be enough! read more

TERRIBLE! TERRIBLE! TERRIBLE! The tables were dirty-stickey, salt and paper spilled and not cleaned. Window slats on the floor. The menus had sauce spilled between the pages and sticky. The service slow and un professional. The attitude of the hostess was like she was doing you a favor by sitting you and made snide remarks about ones demeanor.
