Bus 22204 on Saturday 23d 2025 at 6.30 pm allowed 5 per in a row to enter the bus without paying their fare...I've seen the same people do this daily and are still allowed to rude for free...catering free rides to their friends is not excusable and should be stopped...your drivers are not treating people equally and should be reprimanded...check the on board video you have on every bus...next step will be the news and my mpp. read more

Bus drivers are great, often quite friendly, and considerate. The people on the bus generally keep to themselves and are nice albeit you might have a strange encounter once in a while. I recommend keeping your casual bus rides in the daytime wherever possible. Unfortunately the bus fare fee just increased to $3.50 which is a heck of a lot. But luckily low income families can apply for their discount programs online! So grateful this is an option. The buses are pretty clean. I haven't noticed litter around. The bus times in Google maps are really accurate and the experience is pretty seamless. Overall super grateful for our buses here! read more

Today in the morning I was about to board 65 number bus...Me and an elderly adult were waiting for the bus when the bus arrive that elderly adult told me you go. First and I said no I will wait you go first but still he insisted me to board firstfirst and the bus driver without knowing anything and didn't let me speak he was started saying me no no and that was extremely rude. In front of so many people he yelled at. Me...it sucks...He is the only rude grt driver I have met so far. I give a 1 star review because of BUS 206, AND BUS 12, ESPECIALLY 206 . It comes 4mins earlier along Gateway Park, on the map everytime it says 4mins more I might be 20 seconds away, they just zoom pass the Bus stop. WHY EVERYTIME. If I could give the a Zero I would have given it, and it happens all the time so it's not particular to 1 driver. This is winter, I then have to stand in the Cold for another 20mins. You know, coming from a transit system such as York Region Transit, it's hard for a transit system to be as abysmal as that sorry excuse for a transit system. Overall, I like GRT. Many places where you (as a student at least) need to go are easily accessible, with multiple routes that serve that area daily. The Mainline bus runs every 7.5 minutes six days a week, and the 200 iXpress runs every 10-15 minutes most days, which is quite frequent for a serving population of just over 400,000. These two routes get where most students need to go anyway, and even if not the 8, 9, 12, 29, and 201 (all serving student populations) are relatively decent in its frequency as well. The few complaints I have about the transit system is the underwhelming Sunday service (hourly frequencies on many routes when there's demand for more than that), lack of all door boarding on the iXpress (rapid transit) routes, and the lack of articulated buses, which would be of good use for some of the university runs. read more

why do I need to stand at fairview mall to go to Cambridge, when a bus shows up and goes off service to Cambridge and says we have to wait 45 minute. so this bullshit strike sets better service and routes when we have to wait. but yet we pay more in bus service and passes only to wait longer to get anywhere read more

I really like Grand River Transit, they are really a family to me. I have given many compliments of their staff and operators. I like the iExpress buses and I also like how drivers will take the time to chat with customers and will take the time to address customer service issues politely and professionally. As a recently new citizen of the Region of Waterloo, I am very happy to move to Waterloo Region thanks to the awesome men and women in blue that drive the transit services. One suggestion to GRT is they should sell additional sweaters and coats with the Region of Waterloo logo that the drivers wear. I like the uniforms a lot as well. I find the service is reliable in all directions and they have very frequent buses which is what I like. So, to anyone who takes the GRT, I recommend taking the time to go onto www.grt.ca and provide your compliment or complaints to the staff if you want to provide feedback. Also, some of the riders are extremely friendly. A recommendation to all, please make sure to respect the priority seating on the buses and please move to the complete back when buses are getting full. Also, make sure not to leave your backpacks or things on the empty seats since the seats are designed for people and not for our stuff. Also, please respect all operators and customers. Also, please take time to say hi to the bus drivers when you board the buses, they don't bite. :) read more

When I moved to Kitchener in 2012 GRT was amazing. Kids were free and transfers let you go in any direction. Then they came 2014-2020, what a joke. With years worth of construction taking up the whole city, to a complete over-haul of routes, buses and terminal shut downs for 3 cities at once... then a freaking strike because the employees dont have it good enough... Call center employees are rude, drivers are rude, passengers are rude. It's like being back in Toronto all over again read more

Grand River Transit (or GRT if you will) is the best general public transportation system in Waterloo Region that is run by the Regional government. I don't take the bus all the time, but when I do I find it fast and efficient... Today I took the bus to and from home to work, and the service was punctual and the operators courteous in both directions. The grt.ca website has an excellent trip planner that takes the guesswork out of when the bus will be there and how long the trip is going to take, it's a handy tool! read more

I just had such an enraging bus driver. I happened to get on the bus going to wrong direction -totally my fault, I don't usually take this route, and everyone in KW knows how complicated the roads and busses are. THEN I misplaced my transfer - again, my fault. I looked all over, couldn't find it. Had I more change, it wouldn't have been a problem, but I did not. So, I asked for a new transfer. I was refused, and happily. The driver told me, "Only one transfer." Ok, fine. EXCEPT I HAD A BABY IN A STROLLER WITH ME. So I continued to ride the bus, assuming it would do a loop and take me home. It became another route. I got off as close as I could to home, and was forced to walk 30 min in the heat WITH MY BABY. It would have been quite simple for him to issue a paper transfer. It's really common for drivers to admit people who are short fare, or who have misplaced their pass. SO WHY DID THIS DRIVER REFUSE TO HELP ME?! And with a smile on his face?! When I got off the bus I intentionally flatly said, "Thanks," to which the driver happily replied, "You're welcome." Un-freakin-believable. read more

Buses are way too expensive for only an hour and a half transfer with shitty bus routes and horrible bus drivers. I've almost been hit by buses 5 times at CROSS WALKS and I've only have been living in Waterloo for less than 3 weeks. Toronto's buses are way better and are only $2 for a whole day transfer. Most of the time in Toronto you don't even have to pay!!! I moved here to upgrade my courses but I don't have the money to spend all of it on this shitty fucking bus company. Make the transfers at least 2 and a half hours or lower your prices. Consistantly late. Ive been late to work about 7 times in the last two weeks relying on the schedule of this bus network. There are a select few drivers that are not late. However, it appears the majority of the staff prefers to take smoke breaks for 5 minuted after the busses are to have left the terminal. Would not put a dimes worth of faith into this company. read more

buses constantly late. trip planner is sometimes very wrong. they hadn't updated the screen system at Ainslie for over a week no wonder I was getting frustrated when my bus never showed up. I watched 2 teenagers go into the bathroom with an older woman who looked like an addict they kept going in and out of the bathrooms laughing there heads off coughing .... obviously smoking crack cocaine the lady working the counter watched and didn't do a single thing security either back when I was a teenager 5 years ago we use to get kicked off the property just for waiting for buses well associating with friends that were loitering and now people are getting away with a lot more grt completely sickens me and I mostly take cabs because of this fact and when they raise the fares they can count me out I'm not commuting on a bus line that only cares about money and not getting people to their destinations on time and not cleaning up the bad individuals hanging around all the best to grt seriously read more
