I have been to many Drs. since then but my older brother stayed with him driving a couple hours each way to see that Dr. until he retired well into his 80s. He was a kind, gentle, caring man that listened to his patience. Dr. Byington has a similar manner. He isn't Dr. House or some other know-it-all Dr. but he listens and cares and has referred me to a number of specialists who focus on the specific issues. When I wasn't satisfied with the care of a specialist, he found me another who was more proactive. This has happened on a couple occasions. I once had a Dr. who also did clinical research. After going to him for a few years he came in to see me for an appointment and said, "So, are you a new patient?" telling me he didn't have a clue about me and he hadn't looked at the chart to see that he had seen me for a few years. That was my last appointment with that Dr. I have been with Dr. Byington for a decade or two (I really don't know how long) and I appreciate him for listening, kindness, and putting up with me for all these years. As with anything, you are the expert on your own body and need to do your best to take care of it but having a Dr. who will actually take the time to listen, refer you to the experts/specialists when necessary, and advocate on your behalf is also a part of good care. I have seen too many medical care professionals that really didn't seem to care for the person. Dr. Byington cares and I like that,

Phone calls are promptly returned anytime I contact them. They have also gone above and beyond to ensure I received much-needed medications when I was in another state on my way out of the country for vacation. They also don't settle for anything less than the best treatment and management possible of whatever your specific condition is. If you have GI issues, get a referral to this office! They will change your quality of life for the better.

I walked into this Drs office today and I was beyond amazed. My appt was at730 and Dr Hammersma came out to get me himself! He sat and went through so much with me that I was beyond blessed to have him as my Dr. The entire staff was so kind and so incredibly nice! I was in and out in a little over an hour! Back in California it would have been 3 hours minimum! I am so appreciative of the care and concern I was shown today! Thank you to Dr Hammersma and his wonderful staff! I could not be happier!

For quite a while I was solely seeing PA's because you can get in with them basically the same day and they are just as good as any doctor. The front desk staff and nurses here seem to be a revolving door, but the PA's are a familiar face. Recently had a health concern mystery and feel like I was pretty brushed off. After months of symptoms, I was referred out by my Dr, and in contact with the office regarding results for one week. Then I fell off the map and even upon reaching out, still didn't hear back. Their facility is always very clean and nice. Dr O is very cheery and nice to work with. She can really give you the impression that she actually cares about you.

Dr. Bouwens listened to what I had to say, offered me good advice, and was genuinely concerned for my well-being. I actually learned things instead of feeling like I was just giving him all the answers (which is what I've experienced multiple times elsewhere). For the first time in a very, very long time I felt like I was speaking to a doctor instead of a businessman with a medical degree. He is knowledgeable, polite, kind, and helpful.
